  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Other cool cars like the G70

And a 'little' bump in price too.:p

I turn 40 this year so the wife didn't object.
I fully specced it out except the Gloss Black crap.

An Audi RS5 passed me on the highway yesterday. Love the looks and it sounded amazing (may not have been stock).
I worry about reliability and repair costs, but it's tempting.
An M340i is a good choice, if not unique.

The B58 and ZF are supposed to be bulletproof. Hopefully the rest of the cars is as well!

Agreed. My post was a bit confusing, I was referring to the Audi's reliability.
The BMW should be good. My last three 3 series sedans were all very reliable.

I know know what you mean about Audi.
Was looking at the S5 Sportback but it looks old to me. It will probably get a full update soon I think.
Initially wanted the M240i but wife vetoed it.

Remember the N Vision 74 from last month? It's a G70 underneath.

What's perhaps most intriguing, however, is how much production or near-production hardware is used in the N Vision 74. The fuel cell stack and the two high-pressure hydrogen tanks are from the Hyundai Nexo. The electrical architecture is 800V, as in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The motors are similar to those that will be used in the forthcoming Ioniq 5 N. And although it has a unique multilink suspension all around and bespoke subframes, key elements of the body structure are shared with the Genesis G70.

And not only are Hyundai seriously considering to put it into production, it's also going to share the platform with the Genesis X coupe. I'm reminded of 30 years ago when Toyota developed the Supra alongside the Lexus SC.
But the really clever part is that the N Vision 74 wouldn't be an orphan inside Hyundai. The car has the same wheelbase as the Genesis X Speedium concept, insiders say with a smile that leaves you to draw your own conclusions. And, they add, we can expect to see another concept that could also conceivably be part of the same vehicle family as N Vision 74 and X Speedium.

"We would like to make this car as soon as possible," N brand management team department head Joonwoo Park says. And he and his colleagues are doing their damnedest to make it happen.

Ok, not like the G70 but damn GM hit it out of the park with the new Z06!

That flat plane crank makes this engine sound glorious!!

I really enjoyed watching the long and very technical vid Savagegeese did on the Z06. Makes you appreciate how extraordinary this engine really is and how a company like GM was willing to spend the R&D money on it, when Toyota - arguably a much larger car company at this point - can't even build their own sportscar engine and instead source them from Subaru and BMW.

One thing I do find amusing is how they went googoogaga over the sound of the engine through the whole track session, when in essence it isn't unlike most shreaking inline4's, because that is basically what the flat-crank V8 is - two inline4's. This, after them routinely poopoo'ed the sound of more pedestrian "four poppers". I grew up with inline4s, from Japanese UJMs to VW GTi's, and have always liked the howl of a high revving inline4. To me, that was what I associated with HIGH PERFORMANCE. I never much cared for the typical American V8 rumble. It's what you get used to.

Actually a Stinger...

Love to hear your impression of the car. It's hard to get balanced feedback on the M340, especially vs. The G70 3.3T. Not looking for stats, more subjective feeling.

I'll have to break it down into categories. Can't say much about performance yet since I'm not pushing it until I reach 2,000km.

I configured mine with every option available except M Sport Pro which is basically aesthetic with Shadowline headlights, gloss black grille, and red calipers. And Cognac wasn't available in Vernesca leather so I went with Sensetec. Merino leather was $4,500 and I didn't feel it was justified since I found the quilted Nappa on the G70 stiff and uncomfortable on longer drives!

Canadian Spec configured as follows:
  • Premium Enhanced Package
  • M Enhanced Track Package (bigger rotors, bigger calipers, extra oils cooler, and higher powered fan)
  • Advanced Driver's Assistance Package (full options with Automatic Lane Change and hands free Yraffic Jam Assist)
  • Adaptive M Suspension
  • Adaptive LED Headlights
  • Wireless Device Charging (enables Digital Key and NFC support)
  • Universal Garage Door Opener
  • Cognac Sensatec
What I've lost from the Genesis (not an option):
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Heated rear seats
  • Electronic steering wheel adjustment
I'll update more in a few days!

Probably won't be relevant to most G70 owners but I'm kind of amazed at how much Hyundai refreshed the Sonata, they completely revamped not just the exterior but also the cabin. The G70 obviously didn't get the same amount of love.

Holy crap that looks good! Like really really good.

G70 just doesn't sell enough to get the attention we all want... That Sonata interior makes the G70 like very dated.
