  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lol, okay, maybe that Yoda gif was too graphic for the forum. Taken down! Sorry! Don't wanna offend anyone.

Finally, I’m now a G70 owner.

^ how many KM you got on it now?

I have driven less than 300 miles in the past 4.5 (covid) months !!!!

I've got less mileage then I expected, only about 27,000km so far
Yeah much like you I've only had to get gas maybe 4 times since March thanks to Covid

I go out a couple of times a week just to take a 20 to 30 mile ride. I'm enclosed in a metal and glass box so I'm neither spreading or getting an infection. In two weeks I'm going to drive about 1100 miles and then hibernate a few days before returning.

I’m working at home. Of course since I’ve only had the car for two days, I’m sure I’ll put more miles on it over the next few days but then I should probably settle down to some fairly low weekly mileage myself.

We have some pretty wide open toll
roads nearby that are fairly empty during non-commute hours so I took the new G70 out yesterday so I could vary the engine speed, as is recommended for the first 600 miles.

I know it’s off-topic, but if any of you have any personal tips for the break in period, I’m happy to hear them.

This is nuts...but I am 1 year and 8 months into ownership. I have 7,100 miles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My lease is 10k miles/year. Needless to say...after 3 years...pretty sure I can sell the car for a profit upon ending my least :)

ah yes the break in. There seems to be A LOT of different thoughts on that.
Vary the reps/speed
drive it easy
drive it like you stole it
drive it how you plan on driving it

I honestly have no idea what to believe
I wonder if it any of it actually makes a difference if you are only keeping the car for say under 200,000 miles?

I drove mine relatively easy, only hit WOT maybe once during the break in period

Manual says to take it easy for the first 1000 km's (i.e. no launch control etc). i didn't even drive mine in sport mode. You should vary speeds/rpms and that's what I did. I got lucky as I had to drive out of town (320 km's one way) shortly after purchasing so I just used the manual shifter there an back (640 km's) to vary my rpm slightly. Oh, you're definitely not supposed to redline the engine either during breakin.

Reading the other comments - and yep just as I was going to get really busy driving wise COVID hit and I was in lock down. Car pretty much sat in my garage for 10 weeks or so. What really bothered me was price of gas dropped so low but i wasn't using any. Luckily (for my driving) since the lockdown has lifted I'm pretty much back to my normal routine and have put 4,000 km's on her since mid-May. Finally have enough for my first service!
