Yeah, I think the wheels look too tall as well, and I don't like their design. The rest looks pretty good IMHO.I'm kinda liking the refreshed design...though the front seems somewhat "mosquito-ish" to me. Still overall, I think it works. The wheels look huge to me - maybe 20s? Anyway, if it comes with the new 3.5L V6 and variable exhaust, then I may consider upgrading. Quad tips would seal the deal, but I've seen nothing to indicate that's in the cards.
It's quite amusing looking at some of the old Chrysler commercials (and old car commercials in general) on Youtube. There's a somewhat entertaining interview with him on Letterman. This is now what I aspire to be when I am in my 60s and 70s.
The G70 you sat in felt cheap? I think it’s on par with the competition in terms of material.
The shifter thing is interesting. That is possible. Some people find the quilted seats too much, I like it. I don’t find the leather cheap. It’s smooth nappa leather (on prestige and sport), which yes will age due to how soft it is, but it’s much higher end than the standard leather available on the competition. Feel free to stick around, where all supportive and even if the G70 is not the one for you, would love to know what you end up getting!Yes the steering wheel seemed fine, I think driving it more, would be what sways one way more then the other. The shifter was terrible, but one person mentioned it could have been for the car show that they replaced it with something from Hyundai's parts bin so it wouldn't go missing at the end of the show.
The biggest gripe though was the 'quilted seats / fabric', and it makes up a large part of the interior. It feels and looks very cheap, and they over done it with the door inserts. As well a more 'bucket' rear bench would have been nice, not a game breaker since I never sit there - the G70 back bench feels like a '2-series' not a '3-series'. I had spent a lot of time in the fantastic Audi S4 super sport seats, for long distances for many years, and even though my wife says my Golf R seats are fine, I am constantly looking for something to replace them with. Even the S3/RS3 super sport seats aren't the greatest.
Regardless, going to lurk here for a bit to see what else comes out from releases as it sounds like there are small other tidbits that are getting changed. Very happy with the exterior and driving, majority of the interior though.
Front looks weird for me too "soft" and too damn busy with all the grills, vents and now 4 headlights. Gives me mercedes vibes
I'm the opposite. I like the front but dislike the rear... the way the tail lights are placed bothers me. Side profile is killer tho.

Well, the executive ranks are rife with Germans, and it looks like they are taking the Audi approach - eg, one sausage, 3 sizes.Agreed. I get that they want to have a brand identity (or to use the popular current phrase, Design language), but the tendency is to make the car models all look the same, like the BMW 3, 5, 7 series. Just like sausages, small medium and large.
I have noticed where most vehicles fall down in the IIHS ratings is the headlight cutoff on lows, and the beam pattern. Most are more than bright enough, but they cut off way to soon, the cutoff is too extreme and not feathered, and the beam patterns are wonky and leave dark patches here, but too bright over here, not bright enough on the right side to illuminate a corner, etc. Cuttoff and pattern.Just tint the lens and you will not see the 4 individual projectors. LOL. Incredible how small they are making LEd headlights these days and have them still get the IIHS Safety pick + rating.
I hear that too - some folks say the interior is cheap comparatively, and I am like, what, you people are crazy. Yeah, Merc and Audi very nice, better than G70, but go sit in a BMW 3, a Lexus equiv, an Alfa, a Charger, a Challenger, or any of the big 6 family sedans sporty trim. Please. Our materials are very nice, so much real metal and aluminum. I mean, come on, we were one of the Ward's 10 Best for 2019 awards / listing. I just don't understand what people are wanting, or what they expect out of this car? I feel the bias is strong. The G70 you sat in felt cheap? I think what people are getting at is that it “looks cheap.” Because it was designed to be intuitive and ergonomic and not technologically marveling lol. I don’t even think Audi and Benz have better materials/quality in the segment. Benz with its 90% black piano plastic (80% if you option the wood?) that rattles and creaks like crazy. I drove a C63s for a week and could not stand the interior rattles. The interior of the G70 feels much more solid in comparison. (I am not saying we do not have rattles.) Audi again has that minimal look that some find better looking.I hear that too - some folks say the interior is cheap comparatively, and I am like, what, you people are crazy. I don’t know about that, I can’t stand any of the switches and buttons in the Giulia. You immediately feel how cheap and flimsy they are. Don’t get me wrong, it does have the driving dynamics but the G70 interior is of higher quality in my opinion. An Alfa Giulia Lusso is much nicer inside for the same price. It's a trade-off for technology vs luxury.
