  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was wondering how good Hyundai was at correcting the problems in the 2009 and 2010 Genesis. If you have had a problem with your 2011 Genesis, could you provide the detail? Thanks. I'll start I have had my 2011 for 2 months and so far it has been Flawless.

Flawless performance. Some features are odd:
Can't have fan on without A/C or heat; if door is locked and passenger opens handle, door unlocks even with the car moving; footrest for driver is much too far forward; fron seats very firm for bony-types.

So did you vote that you had a problem or not?

Push the ac button twice. Once turns the ac on, twice shuts it off, but leaves blower on.

I was hoping that the 2 people that voted that they had experienced a problem with their 2011 Genesis, would have given us the details of the problem.

Could you please?

Bought my 4.6 on 10/0/2010. It has been working great until today. When I started the car after work I had no audio from the stereo. The unit seems to be working in that I could change stations, change modes (XM, Aux, CD, etc.) use the navigation, HVAC and Bluetooth would connect, but I had no audio. The volume on the dash and on the steering wheel would indicate in the display that it was going up and down, but I could not hear anything.

I will be taking it into the dealer on Monday.

A great way to start the weekend and to top it off I got my first car payment bill in the mail today.

Today, it was a simple? Bluetooth problem.

Over two hours at the dealership! The technician had to call Hyundai to 'solve' the problem. He reported that a re-boot (reset) of the Bluetooth system was required.

He was in my car for a verrry long time! Also, he moved it outside and then back inside and then back outside again during the process. I guess he was inside when consulting with Hyundia and then back outside when punching the buttons?

Works now, but will it work tomorrow and for the days to come? Frankly, I doubt it. One does not get a warm and fuzzy feeling in these situations.

I now regret paying for the 'advanced Genesis features'. Another bitch is the GPS data base, which is 3 years old. My 100$ hand-held GPS is more accurate in areas where roads have been added or changed.

So far (6 months), have had a blown fuse, a tire-pressure warning, the steering wheel switch issue, the Bluetooth intermittent, the crappy GPS data base, and not always the best treatment at the dealership (one of the service managers has an attitude).

Not the worst of my new car experiences and not the best. Right now, it's looking like my first and last Hyundai.

Are you sure you have the 2011 model? How can the navigation on your 2011 model have a map that is 3 years old? Also, tire pressure warning has nothing to do with your car unless you had a problem with your sensors. Tire pressure change with weather so you may get a warning but it doesn't mean your car has a problem. I kept getting numerous tire pressure warning on my 2008 Lexus IS250 AWD and when I took it to the dealership, that's what they told me. I didn't believe them at first so I searched around and found out that it was normal unless you have 100% nitro in your tires.

Maybe a problem, maybe not...Genesis 4.6, when i open the rear door and look down at the sill there is an air space where the sheet metal was folded over but not welded shut. Maybe correct don't know, would someone please check theirs for me?

Exactly where do you see this? Is the door on the other side of the vehicle the same way? If not, I'd say it's probably wrong. Usually door "skins" are folded over beefier stamped metal pieces that act like the door chassis/skeleton. Sealant goop fills the "U" shaped fold, the chassis piece gets inserted, then the folded lip is pressed/rolled against the chassis piece to make a tight fit (without creating dents/marks in the outside face of the skin); then spot-welds lock the pieces together from the inside. If there are any gaps those gaps will catch and hold water promoting rust/corrosion.

The space at bottom rear of the rear door sills is where the plastic(carbon fiber maybe) rocker pannels are located. It is a skin and not structural. I have similar trim on my BMW Z3.

Bump!
