  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Been browsing this forum for months but finally registered.

Here's my situation..

I'm driving a Sante Fe on a lease ending in 16 months. I really want a Genesis coupe. I called the dealership where both my wife and I have been getting our Hyundais in the past and asked about breaking my lease. I'm at 127,000 KM's and over 27,000 at this point. I as of 3 weeks ago now work at home so I figure I will put another 15K on the car before I hand it back. Based on my payments of $500/month, the sales guy said I would owe $8000 back if I got out of the lease now, but they might beable to buy back the SUV as it was a special sports edition only made 1 year with the larger tires etc. He said this way I wouldn't have to pay for the overages or maybe the break of the lease. I was confused and still have to go test drive the Genesis to see if the car drives as good as it looks.

He said the 2010 models are done but they have stock (Pfaff hyundai). He asked which model, the V6 or 4 with turbo. I've been driving 2 Sante Fe's over the past 8 years and they are 6 cylinders. Would I feel a huge difference going to the 4 with turbo? The V6 is more money but I would be buying the car outright this time, I'm done with leasing for a while.

What are your thoughts on all this and more importantly on the 4 vs 6.

thanks guys

Check out Swapalease.com. There's no way to get out of a lease without getting nailed with fees, otherwise people would be jumping out of leases left and right.

thanks for the reply. I know Im not going to get out of it without some penalty. The thing is right now at 10cents/km I owe $2700. If I tack on another 15,000km thats another $1500 so now when the lease is up I'll owe $4200 plus tax. Maybe what he's saying is if I break my lease at $8000, I would be paying the $4200 back anyways and maybe they can discount the car by $3000 so maybe it wouldnt be that bad.

With that said I think he really meant buying the car outright for a certain price..

With all that said, I was more interested in the difference from 4 cyl vs 6 cyl customers and what they think about it based on me driving a 6 cyl for the past 8 years..

Sorry about changing the subject, but anyone have experience with Swapalease? I periodically check out the listings because I like the idea of being able to drive different cars over a short time period and you could pick up some leases on rice cars with as little as 6 or 7 months remaining with plenty of mileage.
