  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all, I'm considering the purchase of a 2011 3.8 gt. I have read all the favorable reviews and like the car, but in doing my internet research I have seen some negative comments about Hyundai not honoring their warranty or saying "the car meets spec" and refusing to do repairs. Has anyone experienced this? I hope this is just a few discontented owners, but I have seen this comment several times. Any dealers in Northern CA with a good rep?

I'd apprciate any input.

Ed

Buy from a dealer with a good reputation for their Service Dept. If not that then after purchase find a good dealer to service your car. This is true with any brand. I am 58 and have purchased many new cars and own 4 cars now. As a family we put about 225,000 miles on a car or truck before we get another new one. A good dealer is very important.

Never bought a Hyundai...but many other new cars. I have never serviced any of the cars at the dealer other then for warranty work.....and never had a problem or ever a question. I have heard this about Hyundai from many people.

Owning vaious brands of vehicles, I come to realize that it's a common occurance at many dealerships. As stated by Homeofstone, find a dealership with a positive service reputation. I kind of like to separate what my "goals"are for example, where can I get the cheapest price, another dealership for service quality, etc. It's a pain in the @$$ but it's a little bit more stress free for me. For example, the Ford truck I drive right now was bought at one dealership because they were practically giving it away but I know that the service department of another dealership closer to me has an excellent reputation(but won't budge on purchase price that much in their sales department).

This past Sunday though, I lucked out. I bought a 2011 Genesis Sedan 3.8 Black on Cashmere (Hard to find this color combo here) fully loaded for my wife with 2.9% APR(Current APR special in SoCal) for $36.1K. The sales department and service department(Based on customer reviews and speaking with the Service department) is excellent.

I guess you can take a similar approach and talk to the Service department, their manager, customers on the ground, and customer reviews.

P.S. My wife was never a Hyundai fan but she is in love with her car makes any excuse to go out for a drive in it. :D

Hold on, 2011bh380 said he purchased a SEDAN. I think you're pricing a coupe.

Back to my question, no one has had to have any warranty work?? That sounds positive in itself!

Yeah. I don't think I heard of many owners having to take in their vehicles for warranty work. That is definitely a big plus.
