Thank you so much for posting these instructions. You have no idea I how much I appreciate this. I was unaware that there was any switch under the seat and had placed a few things under the flap. I guess it moved the switch forward enough that I could not move my seat back. I'm 5'10" and the my knees were getting closer and closer to the steering wheel. Thought I would have to take it to the dealer and they would have charged me a small fortune to do the exact same thing. Thank you again.
I agree. RH3, you rock. I have a 2014 Hyundai Equus, and I had the same problem. I was able to fix the problem without having to go to the dealer. THANK YOU!!!Sir you are the poster of the year- this is exactly what worked for my seat. I suspect that the seat access function is wearing out that limit switch. Thanks a ton for the tip.
Genius!!! Worked and I have my knees off my face!!! Wish I could buy you a beer!!If the issue is the limit switch, it is possible to get it working again temporarily at least. Operate the main control to move the seat vertically straight up as far as possible to get as much clearance underneath as possible. Go in through the rear door. Move the fabric flap at the bottom of the rear of the seat out of the way. Reach under the seat - palm up - about halfway up and toward the right. You can feel the switch pointing toward the console. Flick it a few times forward and back to free it up. The switch is a spring-loaded momentary type. You might use a mirror to help you see where it is. The operating tab of the switch is white - nice of them to do that! Good luck.
P.S. The way to never have trouble with it again IMO is run the seat all the way back and then forward about 1/2 inch, and somehow mark this position, and then never move the seat back beyond this mark. Also, I think moving the seat all the way back while you are sitting in it puts extra pressure on the switch mechanism and is hard on it, especially if you are a big guy like me.
Hey guys,I have reviewed all the posts that I could find on this forum regarding this issue. I have had intermittent problems for over a year, but today I almost had to call for a tow truck.
The seat did not retract to my setting, as it sometimes refuses to do. I tried a manual adjustment to move the seat back and that did not work. I tried moving the seat forward and that worked. I again tried to move seat back with no result. I again tried to move the seat forward, and that worked. At that point, my knees were touching the dash. I escaped the car (not easy at my age) and thought ... what the heck ... since the car is no longer driveable by me, I will run the seat full forward and that worked and then, lo and behold, the seat then responded when I tried to move it back.
This car obviously has to go in for service. Does anybody know if there is something that I can tell the service manager to get this fixed quickly? Prior posts on this issue are not encouraging (switches changed, motors changed, problems not resolved). Service for these kinds of problems has not been my favorite part of ownership.
Thanks!

RH3 - You are definitely the bomb dot com! & a sure God send! Helpful & unselfish in nature. Continue being you! Oh my gosh, I am so happy that my seat is fixed, so thank you very much! My husband is disabled so couldn't help but as a 67 year old, I had no problem following your instructions (other than getting down & up on the concrete garage floor to reach under the seat). I found that switch and flicked it as you directed and now the seat finally moves back & forth as it should. It's been years since I could adjust the seat and I had given up---And I wasn't giving the dealership another cent to diagnose incorrectly and replace stuff that never fixed the issue. Is there are particular set of curse words that go with the implementation of your fix?Have a 2012 Genesis and went to a car wash. The young lady who then moved my car moved the seat forward and adjusted the mirrors. The seat wouldn't move. I followed the advice in many of these posts and was not able to move the seat. It was a hot Florida day with a heat index of 110 degrees and since I'm older than dirt I became frustrated and called that seat everything but a seat. I decided to give up. I then took my vice grips and banged on the seat rail closes to the console rather assertively and guess what? The damn thing came to life. So if you are at your wits end you might want to try this. Now please don't use a 3 pound hand sledge or a 9 pound hammer. The back side of vice grips or locking pliers just might send enough vibration to the switch to wake it up. Drove the car to work today and all was good with the world.
Not really, I don't think the cursing helped so use whatever expletives help in your situationIs there are particular set of curse words that go with the implementation of your fix?

I have two 2014 Equus. Both of the cars have the same problem. Driver seat will not go back. Found this forum and read the directions about "clicking" the limit switch. However, I can't find that damn thing under the seat. Can you please guide me as to where I can actually see it. I have looked on both cars and can't for the life of me see that little white switch. I saw a pic that someone posted but I can't see that when looking from the rear floor board of my cars.I agree. RH3, you rock. I have a 2014 Hyundai Equus, and I had the same problem. *UPDATE*
On Equus models the "switch" is actually on the left side of the seat if you are attempting to go under the seat from the rear. If you read previous post it indicates the right side from the rear for Genesis.
Equus = Left Side of Seat
Gensis = Right Side of Seat
