  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Power Seat Would Not Go Back

I'm starting to get a bit of a rough sound when I move the driver seat rearward....dunno of if the tracks need lubed or what.....

Having the same issue on my '11 Genesis. It looks like this is the Part # and only around $17 88533-3M900
Just pushed on the switch and it clicked and now seat works properly. Access from rear floor. Switch is about half way up on right hand side.
I also moved the limit switch around and can now move seat forward and back on my 2012 sedan. It solved my problem for now. Can anyone tell me -a non mechanic type-how difficult it would be to replace this switch? Does seat have to come out of the car?

I'm having this problem and can't find the switch at all.

Found it. While I appreciate the post saying what to do, I have to say the directions were very misleading. This switch is not at all towards the middle right of the seat. It's at the back on the far right. you can see the white tip which needs to be jiggled. This fixed my problem

Fixed!!!! My 2015 Genesis Ultimate Package Drivers Seat would not tip all the way forward. While Driving I reclined it all the way to the back and then forward. Every time it went a little further forward. The last one I held the switch to tip the back rest all the way back and held it there for 5 seconds and now the seat works fine. Since there is no controlled study here I really can not say what fixed it other than cycling through the seat limits.

Good Luck!

If the issue is the limit switch, it is possible to get it working again temporarily at least. Operate the main control to move the seat vertically straight up as far as possible to get as much clearance underneath as possible. Go in through the rear door. Move the fabric flap at the bottom of the rear of the seat out of the way. Reach under the seat - palm up - about halfway up and toward the right. You can feel the switch pointing toward the console. Flick it a few times forward and back to free it up. The switch is a spring-loaded momentary type. You might use a mirror to help you see where it is. The operating tab of the switch is white - nice of them to do that! Good luck.
P.S. The way to never have trouble with it again IMO is run the seat all the way back and then forward about 1/2 inch, and somehow mark this position, and then never move the seat back beyond this mark. Also, I think moving the seat all the way back while you are sitting in it puts extra pressure on the switch mechanism and is hard on it, especially if you are a big guy like me.
Thank you so much for this information. I just had the same problem with the driver seat not going backward. I raised the seat as high as possible, slid my hand palm up looking for the limit switch you described. Just as I was about to give up, I felt a flat box with the limit switch on the right side. Flicked it back and forth a few times, climbed out and tried the control switch on the seat. Yeah, it worked. I have now turned of the easy entry mode to hopefully prevent this in the future. Getting to be about time to sell it, but honestly, it has been a great car. 2012 Genesis, 4.6. Thanks again, you saved me some money.

THANK YOU. Just saved me a trip to the dealer and the cost of a repair.

Had the same exact thing happen in my car. I did the same thing - DO NOT MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD when this happens. Otherwise your knees are in your face. After a 2 day stay at the dealer they fixed the issue. Whenever I tell the dealer this is a common issue he usually looks at me in disbelief.

Thanks for all the info on the limiter switch. I was able to locate and move it by hand. Problem solved (for the moment)! I also ordered a new switch on Ebay for $16.

Thank you so much for posting these instructions. You have no idea I how much I appreciate this. I was unaware that there was any switch under the seat and had placed a few things under the flap. I guess it moved the switch forward enough that I could not move my seat back. I'm 5'10" and the my knees were getting closer and closer to the steering wheel. Thought I would have to take it to the dealer and they would have charged me a small fortune to do the exact same thing. Thank you again.
You are a life saver - thank you - love all the self made ( or trained ) engineers out there -

Oye very this just happened to me on my '14 equus. For the life of me I can not locate the little switch.. I've reviewed this entire thread along with photos and no luck 😭.

Any further direction?

Fixed! I still couldn't locate the switch...but I remember reading a post about someone banging around.....So I banged around underneath the chair (as gentlemanly as I could) and voila! my driver seat started working again!

I could not find the switch on my 2010 Sedan but I pushed up and down at different spots under the seat and it actually worked. The kid at the tire store moved the seat and it was jammed again. Outstanding advice here! Thanks so much!

Did you ever get this fixed. I'm having a similar issue with my 2011 4.6. When no one is sitting in the seat, it moves forward and backwards fine. When I'm in the car, It will still move, but makes a "crunching" sound when going back and is not smooth. Also, when I slow down quickly, I feel that there is a little "sloppiness" in the seat. I wonder if there are some worn out bushings in the slide mount.

This occasionally happens to the driver's seat on my 2013 sedan. I've found that the limit switch is easier to find and adjust from the front of the seat. Raise the seat front as much as possible, jam your head in so you can sight down the inner channel of the mounting rails, point a flashlight down the rail and you'll see a white tab. Poke the tab and you'll hear a click and you're good to go.

If you have hams for hands like me you won't be able to reach it with a finger. I keep a wooden kebab spear tucked under the side of the floor mat for these situations - it's about a foot long and works perfectly for the job.
