Hi Everyone.

Just joined this website. Great website. I have been looking to get the Genesis for a long time and finally made up my mind that I want to purchase one in the next few weeks.

Can anyone tell me what prices they paid for the 2009 Genesis 3.8 V6 with the technology package and premium package. I think the dealer also had the cargo mats. If you can provide the final price you paid before Tags. title and taxes, that information would help me alot. I live in the DC metro area.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Neil

A search on "Purchase Details" may get you to a thread with some pricing info. That may help some until someone chimes in with more details. Good luck!

I purchased the Genesis 4.6 with the Tech package and all the accessories (iPod connector, trunk mat, cargo net, etc). The final price I paid before tag, title and tax was $38,100.00. I realize that you're asking about the 3.8...just subtract 2K from my price and it should give you a good starting point for your 3.8 price. You may not be able to get quite this low w/o competing offers and if you wait until the end of the month. This price is $121.00 below dealer cost after holdback (they made $100 in the finance dept so they really only lost $21.00 to move the car off the lot and ensure they got their holdback on all the others).

Thanks. Where did you end up buying your Genesis. That is a good deal. Can you provide the dealership info.

Round Rock (AKA Classic) Hyundai in Round Rock, TX. The original quote at that price was from Van Hyundai in Dallas, TX but since I got a local dealership to match the price I went with the closer one. There's some value in being able to phone your original sales person if you ever have service problems.

One additional thing I'd recommend (and I did personally) is go to consumerreports.com and grab their new car pricing report. It will have non-public info that the dealer will never share with you like the actual dealer holdback ($690 for the Genesis 4.6) and the dealer cost for every option. It does cost $14, but it's well worth it if you're planning to spend more than 30K to ensure you get a fair deal.

All good info, thanks for sharing. After the NY Auto Show in two weeks I'll have a better idea if a Genesis is in my future. :)

I took another look at the pricing report I purchased from consumer reports and it happened to contain the details you need for the 3.6:

Add these:
Base Invoice: 30,243
Destination Charge: 750

Total Dealer Invoice: 30,993

Then subtract these:
Dealer holdback (3.6 only): 605
Dealer incentives: 0

Dealer bottom line price: 30,388

Then add these:
Tech package (04 trim) dealer invoice: 3640

The final price your dealer will pay for the car you want: 34,028

If you can get near that number you have a good deal, if you can get below that number you have a steal of a deal.

Before you can add the tech pkg, you will need the premium+ pkg, is this 34028 already included all the required pkgs? 34K seems to be very low to me when the sticker is around $40000 for a 3.8 Tech.

Yes the Tech package price includes all the lower packages + the additional options...they are all priced into the price of the Tech package. The total MSRP (sticker) for the car equipped that way is 37,000. Some dealers add extra crap (like a pinstripe or fabric/paint protection) and try to charge you over $1000 for that, don't pay for it.

PS. I paid less than 40K (38,100) for the 4.6 with Tech so there's no reason to think that you should be paying that much for the 3.6.

if your going to give him advice, give him something with accuracy because your pricing you have is way off.

What are you basing your statement on? This info is from the consumer reports new car pricing report. If you want to verify it you can purchase the report yourself at https://ec.consumerreports.org/ec/aps/order.htm?INTKEY=nc5-nchome for $14. Additionally I used this report to verify that I was getting a good deal on the Genesis that I purchased (and the pricing matched perfectly other sources of research and also included info I couldn't get elsewhere). If you're going to call me a liar I hope you have something to back it up other than just a troll.

Now that I've spent a couple of minutes going through your previous posts I see you have a history of trolling against anyone posting about buying the Genesis for below sticker (minus one guy who you told not to pay sticker on a demo). The unfortunate part of being a troll on a forums (for the troll anyway) is that your history gives away your motives.

the price he is quoting is 34K for a 3.8L Teck Pkg. Any other websites can verify that the 3.8L tech is 40K for sticker and 37.5K for invoice...but he is quoting 34K. There is 3K difference on those pricing and I don't believe this is accurate and I therefore want more input on it.

As I didn't actually buy the 3.6 (I got the 4.6) I can't definitively vouch for the accuracy beyond that it comes from a reputable source (Consumer Reports). Their numbers DID jive with what I paid for my car and what the dealer claimed about my car so as far as that goes I think they are accurate.

Well as I've provided a source and you haven't (other than bluster and hot air) there's a pretty good bet on which one of us is lying. Oh, and a typo doesn't invalidate the post...good effort though.

Hey buddy... you must misunderstand the pricing.
Regardless what you have purchased... I can give you tons of website to tell you a 4.6L Tech is on around 38K invoice. so you just purchased the car on invoices, pretty much like everyone on the street. But if we factor in your CR pricing, you should only paid 35K instead your 38K for becaz there is a 3K difference where a normal person can't see.

I believe CR report will provide some insight on some hidden dealer hold back or volume incentive but I don't believe the costs will be like 3K.

Disclaimer - I am not a dealer, I have been visiting this forum for 3 months and still try to get one myself.

While it's certainly possible that I misunderstand pricing (I'm not a car dealer, just a car buyer), the numbers in the CR report do match my experience. Here they are for the 4.6:

Base Invoice: 34,521
Destination: 750
Total Base: 35,271

Dealer holdback: 690
Dealer incentive: 0
Dealer bottom line price: 34, 581

Tech package invoice: 3640
Dealer bottom line + tech : 38,221
What I paid: 38,100
Dealer loss before fiance: 121.00 (jives with what the salesman said)
Dealer loss after finance: 21.00 (if the finance guy is to be believed).

At any rate, I encourage people to do their own research, don't just believe my or anyone else's numbers. I've posted the link where you can get the CR report earlier in this thread...it's well worth the $14 as it has a wealth of information that I'm not reproducing here.

Disclaimer: I have no current or former affiliation with CR other than being a reader of their stuff.
