  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The prices have been delivered for the sedan.Does anyone have a cerebral predicition based on that and past Hyundai pricing history for the coupes ?
I am most interested in the V6 GT & V6 SE...I hope it does not flirt with the V6 Sedan pricing / $33000.00 ?

I would think the closest competitor to the Genesis coupe would be the Mustang. The current 210 horsepower Mustang V6 is roughly $21,000 or so and the 300 horsepower Mustang V8 is around $26,000.

The Mustang also has an image edge with its 40 year history and (in my humble opinion) better styling.

I would be surprised if Hyundai prices the 217 horsepower Genesis coupe much higher than the Mustang V6 or the 306 horsepower Genesis coupe much higher than the Mustang V8.

I agree. But we can't forget that the Coupe has to leave room for a replacement Tiburon beneath it. And it would have to be significant room, I would think. So don't be surprised if it is a little higher than that.

In a few years the RWD coupe market will have the redesigned Mustang (which is rumored to move to a substantially more powerful V6 and V8), the Dodge Challenger (currently only the $38,000 version is on sale, but V6 and V8s are planned), the 2010 Chevy Camaro (V6, V8, and possibly turbo four cylinder planned), and new RWD coupes from Toyota, Subaru, and Nissan.

I don't know how Hyundai can expect the Genesis coupe to get a good chunk of that market without being comparatively inexpensive.

Tiburon 2008 MSRP Starting at

GS $ 17,025 GT $ 19,925 GT Limited $ 22,525 SE $ 22,375

Would be great & very affordable if these are the base prices for the coupe !

I thought the Genesis Coupe was replacing the Tiburon as well...

In any event, the Coupe is unlikely to cost what the sedan does..

It probably will, but I heard otherwise. It doesn't really matter at this point. If they bring it back, it would be awesome to see a 2300-2400lb rwd performance coupe like the corolla gt-s was back in the day, but with built-in upgradeability. And priced around $16k. That would be the ticket.

I remember reading just last week that they've decided not to replace the Tiburon. But the Genesis coupe is not a direct replacement.

The Infiniti G35 is the closest match in terms of styling, performance, size, and so forth. Even then, the price will have to be lower than for the Genesis sedan.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse might be next closest, but FWD.

I'd bet on 22,000 for the four, 25,000 for the V6--base prices without leather, sunroof, nav. The V6 will be higher if they make leather, sunroof, and such standard.

I personally find it a bit odd that they're also calling this coupe a Genesis, since it's a much different car than the sedan in just about every way. It's bound to confuse people.

Yes agreed on the name, maybey they will call it something else. When you think about it their are Hyundai models that share the same engine but are not called the same.
Also the V6/SE between 26-28K and the i4 /SE 22-24k.
Hyundai reps said pricing like a Eclispe and a SEV6 one w/o nav does for around $25000.00.

Its been very quiet on this forum. Does anyone have any new information on option package(s) pricing or any written documentation from Hyundai on pricing for the Genesis sedan?

Goldenbrown9638,

Not much has changed recently; we are all waiting until the Genesis Sedan hits the lots. EdVoylesHyundai posted the pricing options and packages in another thread. They are also listed on Edmunds.com.

The question remains how the pricing will play out in July. Will dealerships price at, above or below the MSRP?

I too have question re the pricing: But first an observation. Most Hyundai models offer a factory incentive to buy, plus whateverthe dealer amy want to throw in to sweeten the deal. Does anyone know what the plan is for the Genesis? Or, will they be seeking to obtain MSRP or better for the first several models that hit the dealers? A local Hyundai dealer informs me that the V6 should be at his dealership by mid to late June, but he adamantly sta tes that he hasn't received invoice pricing etc as of this date. Hmmm. I wonder if he is speaking with a forked tongue. If you have info on pricing please post

There's no reason to lie about whether he's received invoice pricing. Figure 93% of MSRP, and you won't be far off.

Question.. Why would Hyundai sell these cars under MSRP with all the hype that's been going on? At least not at first. I really don't expect any special deals in the very beginning.. I have a feeling that all the available Genesis' will be sold at or above invoice until the first round is sold out.

People are going to want this car.. And the ones who can afford them will be the ones to own them first. THEN they'll go to the people who have a smaller budget (or simply don't want to pay MSRP).

Hyundai Genesis: Did you mean to say "at or above MSRP" or "at or above Invoice"?

I should have said that I don't believe there's any reason for Hyundai to sell the vehicle for anything less than invoice in the beginning...

I would actually be happy with invoice cost - if I could get a fully loaded V-6 Genesis for $37k. Otherwise I have to go without the $4k tech package..

depends on which part of the country... All of the dealers should have some v-6s by mid July. Here in Minneapolis there is at least one dealer that will have some by late next week.
