If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Programming homelink mirror to garage door receivers with rolling code technology

Did you get it to work?

The service guys will ask do you see a light at all lit on the mirror to make sure it is powered on. There is an on/off switch. After pressing that and making sure it is powered, the next question is are you pressing the two outside buttons long enough. They have to be depressed together for 20-30 seconds to get the flashing notification the function was complete (erase memory is what you are doing right?)

Thank you BaywayRic!!! I followed all instructions over and over again without any luck until..... I read your post and followed the link.
I took the printed instructions to the garage, (keeping in mind that magical sentence.... "THIS IS A TWO STEP PROCESS"). That did it! Just for jollies, I tried to train the other buttons and they all responded the same way. Thanks again for the link. I'll repeat it for thoses who have the 'revolving codes' .... its a TWO STEP PROCESS.... follow the simple instructions from beginning to end and I'll bet you too will have success. Finally.

Hi Everyone,

These are steps that I did to program Genesis HomeLink to open my rolling code Garage door successfully.

Begin: Park your Genesis outside your garage, just as you are about to open your garage to drive your Genesis inside.

Step 1: Turn on START botton in accessories position (1 press). This turns on Genesis HomeLink device.

Step 2: From inside the Genesis, Press both buttons 1 & 3 of HomeLink on the inside Rear View Mirror for about 20 - 25 sec, until you see the red light of Genesis Homelink flashes ... (slowly flashing). This indicates that Genesis HomeLink is ready for your programming.

Step 3: From inside the Genesis, press the button of your garage door opener and your chosen HomeLink button (your choice, either 1, 2, 3) at the SAME TIME for about 15sec - 20 sec. Doing this, you will see that the Genesis HomeLink indicator RED start flashing rapidly. This indicates that Genesis HomeLink is ready for learning your garage door rolling code.

Step 4: After the Genesis HomeLink starts flashing rapidly, go back to your garage door control unit which mounted on the garage door ceilling and locate the LEARN square button (mine has yellow color). Press this button ON.

Step 5: Go back inside your Genesis, in within 30 seconds:
1) Press your choice HomeLink button on your inside rear view mirror for 3 seconds, then release
2) Press this same HomeLink button on your inside rear view mirror again for another 3 seconds, then release
3) Press this same HomeLink button on your inside rear view mirror again one more time for another 3 seconds, then release

Your Genesis HomeLink should activate your garage door.

Programing your Genesis HomeLink is now complete.

I like to share this with all of you, who is going to program your Genesis Homelink to save your time.

I really enjoy the Genesis. I have found all functions I checked is working as expected and the Genesis is really impressive.

Best regards,
ld_gen

Mine was easy to sinc. My problem is that the buttons on the mirror need to be pushed hard and that causes the mirror to move. It is quite hard to open garage door.

Hi nb... I know what you mean. I felt that way too, then I found out that we just need to hold the button down longer that I did with the remote. See if that's the case with yours too. I felt that I had to push the button hard to get it to work, when in fact I just had to give it an extra second or two with a lite push. Hope that's the case for you too.

Thanks to the TSB we got it going. The owners manual fell short on this procedure. Of course the garage manual didn't cover home link at all. Thanks to this forum it took 15 minutes.

Here is the link for Hyundai Gensis from Homelink:

http://www.homelink.com/program_video.php

For those that need visual reinforcement/confirmation it shows you which buttons to push and when to push them. If still unable to program call 1-800-355-3515 to get personal tutoring from a live person. Note you may have to listen to the programming steps that did not work for you before a live person comes on line.

I'm having a somewhat different problem. After programming the Genesis HomeLink, my wife's HomeLink on her G35 stopped working. After reprogramming it, the Genesis stopped working. I've gone through the program steps numerous times and can't get both to work at the same time. However, we have a 3rd car, a Honda Accord, and its HomeLink works throughout with no problem. So I can get the G35 and the Honda to work or I can get the Genesis and the Honda to work but I can't get the G35 and the Genesis to work at the same time. It's almost as if these two cars have a conflict. Anybody else had this issue?

Frustrating but love the Genesis!

The .pdf instructions seem to match the instructions from the owners manual. Why the need for the TSB?

Sorta on topic:
The building in my avatar is an observatory that I built in my back yard. The retractable roof is operated by a standard Garage Door Opener. Just for kicks, I tried programing the Observatory on the second space on my Genesis mirror. Works like a charm. I can pull into the driveway and open the garage door and simultaniously retract the roof on the observatory.

Well....I've been at it all afternoon. my new genie opener just won't operate from the homelink! In the first place the initial step, hold the two outside buttons 20 secs, then it blinks try as I may holding the remote does not affect the blinking on the home;link.....guess I'll just keep the remote in the car like back in the 60'! Damn!

How old is your garage door opener? Old one's use the remote to "learn" the new signal, and newer ones (late 90's or newer) use the "learn" buttom on the back of the opener itself. Could be a purple button.

My garage door opener is 5 hours old...It was installed by an installer account I was in a head-on collision that destroyed my sonata! and I an,m not able to install one at this time!BUT I went to homelink.com and they had a brief reference to Genie openers and they had step by step instructions which I used AND IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!

duplicate....sorry

The instructions for programming the homelink for rolling code openers in the manual is faulty or actually incomplete. I have owned two Genesis and with each one I went through the same headache. The trouble is I'm reading this at work and I can't remeber exactly the sequence. Once I discovered the missing step (by sheer luck) the homelink was "straight forward" and easy to program...once off duty if I can remember the steps I'll post them.

The best way to program homelink when garage opener has a roaming code. More and likely car will have to be outside the garage.
1. Push in the two out side buttons on the homelink until red light blinks rapidly, now the homelink is cleared.
2. Hold your garage remote up to the homelink and at the same time press and hold the button on the remote and button on the homelink that
you want to program until red light on homelink blinks slowly.
3.Now go to the garage unit and press the program button (yellow, green, red grey), now immediately go to the car and press and hold the button on the homelink that you have programed until garage door operates. In that you only have a little bit of time to do this I would make sure I could reach the garage unit and the program button is assessable before I get started.

It is easy if your garage door does not have a roaming code but that would be with an older garage unit.
1. Push in the two outside buttons on homelink until red light blinks rapidly, now the homelink is cleared.
2.Hold your garage remote up to the home link unit and at the same time press the button on your remote and the button on the home link that you want to program when red light blinks slowly you should be good to go.

I have multiple cars and multiple remotes. How do I get them all to work? FOr instance, I have three transmitters. When I set them do I push three three #1 buttons concurrent with the # 1 on the mirror? I assume I do this after the learn button is pressed. When I do this I will run out of fingers or need 2-3 people. Is this what others did to make it work? I have 4 cars and 4 transmitters (the Genny has one transmitter in the mirror of course) and two garage door openers.

FWIW, the version of Homelink in the 2010 Genesis is not compatible with the newer Liftmaster 8550 openers. You have to get a repeater from Homelink in order to make it work.

I live in a development which has a gated system. Can I program my Homelink to open these also??
