  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Proximity Card Key?

Key card is a great idea. Did not know the G80 had it. (I don't own one).

When I vacationed in France, I leased a Renault Laguna II which had the Key Card. Loved it. In addition, when walking away from car, car would lock. Walking toward car, car would lock. Leased at
Www.renaultusa.com

Two questions please:

How thick is the key card?
How much did the dealer charge to program it?

Thanks.

About as thick as 2 credit cards, Dealer charges 1 hour labor. In my case $135 as the max state allows.

Some dealers will charge 30 minutes labor, but most the minimum charge is 1 hour even if it takes 5 minutes. I did mention to the GM I thought it was a bit high because it literally takes 5 minutes and he had the SM knock off $20.

The real gouge though is the pre-cut physical key that goes inside of it, $7.00 for the key. $70 to cut it.

So bottom line, the card will cost between $400-$500. A bit steep.

Thanks very much for the response.

sounds about right:

$230-$260 for the card depending on where you get it
$50-$70 for the physical key
$135 to program.

it is a bit steep, but for me having had one for nearly 4 years, ridding myself of all keys, car, house, work, etc. as everything is RFID or Keypad, I didn't want to have to start carrying keys again.

my EDC (every day carry) went from: 2 sets of keys (work/home/car) with about 15 keys, my wallet and phone. to a minimalist wallet that has my work RFID badge on one side and the car credit card key on the other, and my phone.

the price you pay for convenience.

It can also be programmed by some independent key shops. I found one which the dealers sometimes send cars to to be programmed in the Ausitn area.

UGH...

So $70 to get the pre-cut key for my car, and they key doesn't work, Parts counter idiot entered the wrong Keycode (transposed two digits) and apparently the computer doesn't catch that the VIN and Keycode do not match.

Now I have to wait another week for a key..

ordered mine from Hyundai Parts - Genuine OEM Hyundai Parts and Accessories Online as they had the lowest price, received it last Friday, dealer programmed it Saturday.

I had one for my Lexus, and prefer it, as my home is also keyless, I don't want to have to carry more stuff in my pockets.
I just picked up my Access Card-here in Massachusetts- been wanting to use since I saw it was available in Canada. For those interested it works great on my 2016 Genesis.
Did you get your card from the dealership or a third party seller? Here is Maryland it took me calling 9 dealerships before I got one that even knew about the card for 15/16 Genesis and only one said that they could program the card.

Did you ever get the proximity card for your car?

I just looked up this part at Hyundai Genesis Parts and Accessories at HyundaiPartsDeal and it is now discounted at $132.00. The list price has come way down as well. I paid $230 for mine. Also had mine programmed for $70 and the key cut for $70. ( First dealer I called wanted $140 to program the key.) I love mine. Did have to change the battery after about 6 weeks but have had no issues in 8 months now with the new battery.

These card keys work for 2015 5.0 Ultimate?

If I were to buy one of these, do you think it would work on my G70?

This site has it for $530, ridiculously high.

95443-B1301 - Hyundai Parts Deal

This looks like it would work.

2017-2018 Genesis G80 Card Key (F249)
This is where I got mine for 230 but the last time I looked it was $132.00. Unless I got something wrong. It is well worth doing a search in accessories for the G80.
You may need to punch your VIN number in to get the correct key card. Then have the key programmed. (Shop around as I got prices from 140 to 70 for programming the key. And Order the hard metal key. That is 70 if you want it. It opens doors and trunk.

Just went to the site you do have to punch your VIN number in to get to the 2017 and newer parts. Well worth the effort.
