  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Purchase Details so we all can prosper!

I might have missed the thread but how can someone obtain a $500 Genesis Discover Reward Coupon? Do you need to take a test drive at a special show or does a local dealer have acess to them? I am hoping to negotiate my deal this weekend!

Calvin

They came from the Hyundai Genesis Tour this summer & fall. They're done. The coupons in existance expire 12/31/08. Only way to get one is to hope someone on the forum who has one, has decided not to use it before year end. Then BEG. :D

Thanks for the info BaywayRic!! I have been holding out for a white satin pearl but the dealer has a black one due next week. Yours looks black, any concerns living in hot steamy FL like me? I must admit that black sure looks real sharpe!!!!

Calvin

PS anyone with the coupon available I would love to make an offer for it if your not going to use it!

I bought a coupon on eBay for $99 from someone who went to one of the test drive events. It totally worked with my dealer who gave me the $500 credit. Keep checking eBay.

Black on black works fine in FL. We never had black interior and I was skeptical at first, but it is NO problem. The A/C is up to the task and the tinting really helps, as does the A/C seat!

With the coupon, there may be one on here somewhere. As far as I know, there have never been funds exchanged here. Personally, I received one from a member, and subsequently have delivered three to other members. Pay-it-forward works well here.

Thanks for the feedback to both of you!!! I am going in to the dealer to work out a deal on a black / cashmere 4.6 due in next week! Wish me luck!!!

I'm waiting for the economy to get better (gasp, gag, and guffaw) - when I can get 1.9 financing for 60 months and a price that MAKES me want to buy the car - then I will.
I hear you. You might want to consider going with the 24-month lease. It's basically like financing the car for free for 2 years (something like 0.0001% money cost) and letting Hyundai take all the risk.

IF after two years, you find that the car hasn't depreciated more than the payoff, and if you still like the car, keep it and get a 36 month loan on more favorable terms.

Right now financing at 6.85% or whatever it is the banks are offering is ridiculous. I took the 24-month lease on my Genesis and I look at it as smarter than financing in today's economy.

I was hoping this posting would be filled with my purchase details but after going to the dealership they tried a bait and switch on me. Different color and not even a V8 (I think they sold my car out from under me since we negotiated earlier that I would not have to pay the window sticker bump). I know this sounds bad but I felt like they were acting like I was a KIA buyer. Oh well I'm regrouping and talking to other dealers up and down the west coast of FL. Hopefully one will come through with a real car shortly. It seems that the V8's are arriving every week now over here.

Calvin,

I thought you would have a deal- but sorry about the bait and switch games alot of dealers have know to do.

I am glad the people I have hooked up with deals- do not suffer that- since
when I refer a client to a dealer- the dealer knows at the get go- don't play
those games with my clients.

KenT,

Tell me who you have hooked up with. At this point maybe a trip out of state to get a good deal from a dealer that does not play games is just what I need to do!

BayWayRic was kind enough to "pay forward" and send me a discount coupon. I am still waiting for my fully loaded Genesis V8 and will use it when it comes in.

Hopefully there will be others on this site that come forward and offer their unused coupon to send to those that need the $500 break!

new to the site... so not sure if this is allowed....

I was trying to get details on what folks are doing for their leases... and for me this is the first time that I would be leasing... here is what I got.

I have a POS Dodge Magnum RT.. big Umf Umf HEMI>.. the hyundai v6 is faster :)

Loved the car and want to get one.

They offered me measley 10,500 for my car.

I am looking at the v6 with premium (ideally wanted tech, but none around)

cost on the car is 35150
down they wanted the 2199 plus the difference between the base and the premium so total down is 4199
.00125 money factor
The residual was 22144

so as a first time leaser.. I of course am trying to do my homework... isn't this "deal" assbackwords?

Don't I want to put down as little as possible and have as high a residual as possible?

Can anyone suggest what it should be for a premium? I thought I saw folks were doing $2199 down at $499 a month with a residual of the .00001.

Thanks...
a humble but hopeful hyundai guy ;)

Yes, it sounds like the dealer is giving you a bad deal. First of all, none of them should be asking for "the difference between the base and the premium" down. If you're upgrading to premium or tech package, it increases the total amount of the lease, which increases your monthly payment, but doesn't increase the downpayment. Second, the money factor should be .00001 and not .00125. Third, make sure you get a decent amount for your trade. I don't know what yours is worth, but make sure you're not losing money because some dealers will make money on that as well.

Personally, if I get a shady deal like that from a dealer, I'm much more likely to walk away, drive across town and get a good deal from a different dealer. Dealers have to earn my trust, and unfortunately, most of them are slimy and try to rip you off at every point. At least the one I went with didn't try to sell me "VIN etching" and all of the shady extras that they use to jack up their profits.

Well it appears some Hyundai dealers are feeling the crunch especially after the Industry leaders (Lexus, BMW, Infiniti) are taking a hit and doing deals that usually happen at end of model years- so now some Hyundai dealers are having to accept deals they would not have even thought of months ago- I know of at least one dealer selling MSRP of $36,000 for $32,631.00 plus TTL.

MSRP: $36,000.00
Style: 4dr Sdn 3.8L V6
Color: PLATINUM META/JET BLACK
Class: 4 Door Sedan
Model #: B0422

Now if they only offerred "1.9%" and lower Hyundai Financing- would be killer but even without it- this deal is outstanding!

just received an e-mail from local dealer. 4.6 V-8 w/ tech pkg opt. 05 38,411 plus tax & DOC. the only problem is they only have black. he said they some some other colors coming soon. would really be good deal w/.9 financing, none available yet up here chicagoland area. my brother got .9 but he's in tennesee area. i also have the 500.00 genesis coupon which brings it down to 37,911. may sit it out and wait for .9 financing ,the ways things are going it should be here soon.

Vehicle: Silver 3.8 w/ Tech Package
MSRP: $40,000.00
Price Paid: $36,847.00

Had no trade-in so can't say what they would have done there.

FYI: Costco price is $37,363

Bought at Brown's Manassas Hyundai in Manassas VA.
