If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Question about purchasing and hyundai circle program

Mark, If you don't mind me asking; why didn't you use the circle pricing?
I am still driving a 2009 Genesis (with only 49K miles), and I joined Hyundai Think Tank soon after purchase (by invitation from Hyundai). I have noticed over the years on this forum that some people claim to have been able to get deals as good (and occasionally better) than Circle pricing, but not sure about 2015 models. Clearly, on leftover 2014 Genesis models right now, the Circle pricing is way higher than the $10K off MSRP that dealers are offering. It just depends on what kind of incentives that Hyundai is running.

Thanks again Mark. The dealership I am looking at installs the badges if the buyer wants it but I wasn't sure how they treat the buyer if they are getting a good discount on the purchase price.
It varies by dealer. If they do that for other customers, it is not going to cost them much to do for you, but even if they charge you, I assume it would not be much. Most owners have done it themselves after purchasing the emblem on eBay for about $25.

Dealers make little money of the sales of cars compared to service (and finance and add-ons). Smart ones should be happy to retain you as a loyal customer who will inevitably make them money over time at the service bay than a few hundred extra on a car sale.

I know I keep coming up with questions so forgive me for asking one more. Does the circle price include the dealer fee?

If your dealer is anything like mine, that figure is pre-printed on the sales form, so my guess is you'd be adding that on top of the circle price.

You do not have to let them know of the circle pricing upfront - if you have a trade-in they'll shaft you on it. Negotiate your tradein if you have one - negotiate as a completely separate deal, stating, "if I don't get what I think my tradein is worth - there'll be no deal" and then pull out the circle price. I'd suggest be flexible reasonably with the tradein, but then the whole package should be slated your way, not their way.

The last three cars I have purchased included a trade-in. I do my research before hand and know what I want to pay for the new car and what I want to get for my trade-in. Then I let the salesperson know that I will only pay so much difference between the 2. They can either take more off the sale price of the new car, or give me more for the trade-in. I have gotten my price each time, but you need to be ready to walk out. One trick is to take 2 sets of keys for the trade-in so they can't hold you "hostage" by not giving you the keys back. They always make you wait forever while they go watch TV in the sales managers office. If it gets too long, just get up and head for your car with the 2nd set of keys. That gets their attention. All dealers know that if you leave, they will almost always not make a sale.

Last car I bought was a Genesis Coupe for my wife. We found a 1 year old one we liked and I got slightly better than I was after in the difference between my trade and the car we bought. It took the salesman 3 trips to his "manager" and my getting up to leave twice, but I got what I wanted. The trick is the research before and allow them a profit. I was surprised that this dealer kept raising what my trade-in value was, but did not budge hardly any off the sales price. My guess was that his bonus was based more on his selling prices than the trade-in values he got. We got close to retail for the Elantra Limited we traded in for the Genesis Coupe. We loved the economy of the Elantra Limited, but both of us love the fun factor in the Genesis Coupe GT.
Just my nickels worth.

BRJacket:

I bought my car a few hours ago using circle pricing. They normally charge about $175 for the trunk badge and installation. I got it for free. I went into this thinking circle pricing was so good that the dealer would be very inflexible. That wasn't the case in Southern California. The dealers seemed open to accepting circle pricing. I traded in a 2012 G which had a Hyundai's trade in guaranteed value certificate. My dealer accepted that as well. There was no negotiating on my deal for the new car or the trade-in. Don't be shy about using circle pricing. Ask for a sales or internet manager and walk in like you own the joint.

There's no need to think that dealers are not willing to accept circle pricing - at the end of the day they are still getting their 2% holdback (yes, 2, not 3 in case of CP) from Hyundai...

What is "CP'? Everything I have read is that Hyundai Motor America pays 3% holdback to dealers. Most other manufacturers pay 2%.

Circle price. What dealer is getting is 2%of net invoice, which they conveniently call dealer delivery fee.
First of all, holdback is based on MSRP, not dealer invoice.

I am wondering about people claiming to get Hyundai Circle Pricing and whether they are actually going through the proper process to get it. It is not supposed to be open to the public, as only Hyundai employees (and relatives), vendors, members of Hyundai Think Tank, and a few other categories. There should not be anything added on by the dealer over the Circle Pricing (any dealer fees should be listed in the Circle Price), at least last time I look at it on the Circle Pricing website a few years ago.

However, Hyundai (and other manufacturers) have instituted discount programs that in some cases exceed the discounts available with Circle Pricing, so it is not as important as it once was.

Here is who qualifies for the Hyundai Circle A-Plan Program:

Approved vendors/business affiliates of HMA, HMMA, and HCA with company ID provided by HMA. Friends and extended family members of HMA, HMMA, and HCA employees are also eligible for A-Plan.

On new models the CP will get you the best price. On discounted model you may not get the best price.

Haven't seen the latest incentives for the Genesis but when i bought mine it was the only way to buy one below msrp. Also, the dealer i bought if from accepted CR as soon as it was available for the Genesis. If i remember correctly CR pricing was available 2 months after the 2nd gen was released.

Here you go. This is an example of the Hyundai Circle A-Plan Program. This is for a 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate.

Also members of Hyundai Think Tank.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I bought mine using it. Also, these prices are before any other incentives.

I understand that Hyundai closed down the "think tank" and replaced it with Hyundai Listens. I assume that Hyundai Listens members will get Circle Pricing but has anyone had that confirmed?

Very helpful info, equates to $900 below invoice. My recent purchase without circle pricing was $700 below invoice, therefore I am pleased.

Wouldn't the example above equate to $1892 below invoice?

Yes, looks like Think Tank was closed down. I was a member since 2009 (received invite from HMA at that time).

I just joined the new Hyundai Listens (my old userid and password don't work) and I don't see anything about Hyundai Circle Pricing for members (but that does not necessarily mean it is gone). If it is gone, probably because it was being abused, mostly on this forum, as it was not supposed to be discussed in public.
