  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I wish AWD was available on the V8 Ultimate in the US. I am interested in seeing how much AWD adds to the price in Canada.
What is the sticker price for AWD V8 Ultimate Genesis vs RWD V8 Ultimate Genesis?

You cannot compare because here the AWD V8 comes in only the Ultimate. That being said, you cannot get the 17 speaker lexicon or the large nav unit or the DIS or the adjustable suspension or the suede headliner in a Technology trim V6 AWD (most equipped packed on the V6 here in Canada) so you need to add all those to the V8 option in the final price when comparing to the V6. Price difference between a loaded V6 and V8 here is $9,000.

Difficult to compare pricing between Canada and the US as many things change including the currency value. A V8 Ultimate goes for around $64,000 cdn when all is said and done which translates to about $54,500 US. By the way, they are offering $1000 rebates off the entire Genesis line right now up here.

In Canada there is only AWD. RWD is not available on either V6 or V8. As Midnightsun has said, the Trim Packages are not comparable either between the US and Canada.

It amazes me that they don't offer AWD for the V8 in the US as you would imagine there are enough potential buyers in the NE and Mountain States to justify adding it to the lineup.

Thanks for the information.

They can't offer the V8 AWD because it does NOT meet the EPA requirements in the USA. It is as simple as that.

What EPA Regulations exactly? The engine is the same as the RWD version. The only effect that AWD would have is slightly increased fuel consumption due to the driveline losses and extra weight. While this might impact the Hyundai Corporate Average Fuel Economy rating just a little, I can't see it being a reason not to offer the option.

The standard 5.0/Ulitmate/R-Spec is EPA rated @ 15/23/18 MPG (City/HWY/Combined) and barely escapes the "Gas guzzler tax" as it is...

If we did have the 5.0 AWD (around 13/21/16), we (the consumers) would have to pay the Gas guzzler tax, which may have pushed the price rapidly towards or beyond the $60k mark, making the V8 AWD option a far less attractive option resulting in far fewer sales of RWD V8s (V8/5.0 is less than 20% sales plus half of US does not need AWD!), something the bean counters may have considered this possibility as part of the overall marketing strategy...

Just my two cents...

OK, that makes more sense. While we don't have a Gas Guzzler Tax, we Canadians pay around 25% more for our gas, so it has the same effect .

You just gave the exact reasons that V8 AWD are not in the USA. EPA has set the line in the sand, so to speak, and the V8 AWD falls below it.
