R Spec vs SS Camaro

You must be looking at a different web site, I see 3.0, 4.0, 4.1 sec. My mom could do better than 4.6 in a ZL1.

Yup the site I was looking at assumes the parking brake is on and there are 500lbs of cinder blocks in the trunk.

Ran into a SS Camaro last night while out and about. He and I were playinga littile cat and mouse whiel in traffic to see who would bite. When we got to a open area with no traffic, I could see him coming on fast in my rear view and knew he had punched it. I was doing about 70 when I punched it. Did this a few times on an up hill incline. Pulled all the way up to about 120. a few times when there was no traffic.

Let's just say he's probably headed home to see what's wrong with his car. Seems he couldn't walk me like he thought he should be able to. When I looked over at him after slowing down for him to pass me the last time, he wouldn't look over. Oh well. Guess his SS Envy lisence plate needs to be rewritten.

that is hilarious! i suggest you install a dash cam and provide us with some juicy footage next time.

I'm supprised to see others who have had a little spirited confrontation but yet haven't posted about it till now.

It's fun to watch people as the R Spec leaves them. They can't seem to fathom a big luxury car accelerating like a muscle car. Guess the muscle car manufactures need to step up their game some.

While it would be cool for the others to view footage... prob
wouldn't be in your best interest now or down the road.

rspec is a luxury cruiser with a V8.

it wouldn't have lead from a dig or anything. LZ1 would destroy it without even racing lol.

now if Hyundai was kind enough to make a REAL RSPEC version with a turbo on the V8... OMG YUMMY... though when reality sets in the nannies would slam me back to earth like a parachute that didn't open.

Hyundai has work to do.

Yep - the current R-Spec is like Infiniti's IPL or the -Sport and not a true performance line.

TT on the Tau, stickier tires, more aggressively bolstered seats, reprogrammed transmission and suspension settings (or just sticking in a sport-mode), etc. would make for a real performance line.

May happen around the time of the MCE for the 2G Genesis but may not happen until the 3G Genesis.

Speaking of fast, the 0-60 times on the C7 Stingray are crazy - Car & Driver got 3.9s.

Imagine what GM will do w/ the ZR1.

LOL I joined this site to learn about the Genesis…but find this. Let me give you another perspective.

1. How do you know he was racing? Unless you honk 3 times/signal/etc then you don’t really know if he was racing you. There are plenty of times when I just want to drive spiritedly, hear the exhaust, or
just because – but I’m not racing.

For example, I wanted to pass a 335, but the jerk sped up. Once I passed him and got into my lane, then I stopped. He kept going and probably thought he “kept up.” But I wasn’t anywhere near the redline or going WOT.

2. How do you know he wasn’t just toying around with you? I gave a CTS-V coupe a one car lead and then let off the gas once I had him by 1.5 car lengths. And that’s with one of my stock cars.

3. How do you know he is stock? There are plenty of 600+whp cars running around that look and sound stock.


I will say this though – I rather have a Genesis 5.0R than a Camaro SS.

What were you driving at the time vs 335i ? Those are 4 sec / <12 sec cars with basic tune.

And yes id rather have a genesis over a camero

Are you saying a 335 with JB4 only (on map 1 or 5) will run less than 12s in the quarter mile?

A good driver with meth, upgraded turbos, and tune could break the 12.0 mark...
