  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Radio stopped working, then OK

I don't even own a Genesis but have been considering buying a new one in the next few months. These are the kinds of things that concern me about the brand. That's pretty crazy that they would buy the car back before they would replace the head unit. It's hard for me to understand their reasoning behind this. My other concern is parts availability in the US and the time it takes to get parts here from Korea. Hopefully they resolve this problem soon.
Bizarre one off shit...don’t worry.

They have to buy it back if they cannot fix it under the lemon law. There may be more to the story than we see. It is probably going to be a good deal for the next owner once fixed.

In general, parts are available overnight from a US warehouse. Even parts from Korea are usually quick if it fits on an airplane. Sure. we are vocal when problems do arise but we don't often mention the every day good service.

Good point about the lemon law. I never thought about that! It seems to be hit and miss on what's stocked in US warehouses. I assume the most common parts are in the CONUS. I know the people who had the brown spots on their trim around the windows had to wait until the dealer received them from Korea. BTW I lived in South Korea for 4 years many years ago when I was in the military. Back then everyone drove black Daewoos.

Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. No sound for the entire morning commute which made the commute even longer! Called the dealership to set an appointment to bring it in but then it worked on my drive home!! Dealership said to bring it in if I continued to have issues but thankfully it hasn’t happened again. Fingers crossed it doesn’t!

Weird - happened to me on my commute home. All functions worked, just no sound from radio stations or from music on my phone (via the USB port). No amount of turning on and off the radio or car would get it to work. Weird. I‘ll check tomorrow to see if it’s working, but will call Genesis to report the problem.

If it didn't work there is a tiny reset button by the volume knob that fixed by problem instantly

Today I got in my car and the radio wasn't working. Everything was on but no sound. Stopped the car, turned it off and back on again and still nothing. Parked the car for 5 hours, turned it on and everything was back to normal. Anyone have similar issues?
I had the same issue and they diagnosed it to the multi fuse box connected to the head unit. Mine was cutting out all the time especially when changing drive modes or the screen would go black when trying to use CarPlay.

I just experienced this for the 2nd time. The first time it happened, I was driving to the store, and when I got back to the car after shopping, the sound system started working again. This time it happened on my drive home from somewhere. When I got home, I shut off the engine, waited a few minutes, and started the engine again. No dice. Stereo still out.

I decided to check this forum and ran across this suggestion. I went back out to the garage to try pressing the reset button. I started the engine, and the stereo starts working again. (I didn't have to press the reset button.)

This god damn car is trolling me!

Were they able to resolve the issue? If so, what did they do to fix the problem?

They said they replaced the multi fuse box located under the center console/cup holder area? It seemed to have fixed the issue and I also switched the view when selecting drive modes so it doesn’t show the image of the car. Sound was cutting out when going between modes especially while using Carplay. Carplay is a whole other issue but I hear in most cars it is.

It's only happened to me 6 or so times in almost 3 years and has always resolved with hitting reset so I'm not taking it to get checked out

This has happened to me several times (the screen being all black) and turning off and on didn't seem to do anything but for some reason putting it in reverse gets the camera to come back on and then once out of reverse the screen works. I haven't ever taken the time to report the case because I figured I was the only one until today when reading this thread.
