  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone...

Does anyone else have this problem? I noticed the 2010 Genesis I looked at had hard plastic here instead of this covered vinyl. I sure wish mine was hard plastic.

I noticed this about a week after I bought my car as a certified car - and it is possible it was there went I bought it a few months ago. I plan to take it to the dealer to see if they can remedy the problem. I noticed that the passenger door one (rarely used) has some sign of wear, but not worn through yet. I did notice the Equus I saw in Fairfield, OH that it was worn just like mine.

Thanks

Larger pic? I have no such issues, but I'm curious what is causing this....rubbing against the pillar when you enter/exit the car?

Mine is showing ever so slight amount of wear. Since nothing from the door comes in contact with the pillar where the passthrough housing meets, it does seem that it's either the seatbelt when not belted, person rubbing against it while seated, or person rubbing while entering/exiting.

Are you saying that in the 2010 the pillars are covered with the same hard, textured plastic that the door sills are made of (not the same material that the dash top and door vinyl are made of?

I am pretty sure it is caused by getting in and out of the car... The vinyl is kinda stretched over that corner...so any rubbing at all wears it out quickly. Ever since I noticed it, I am real careful to get in and out.

I called the dealer and they said it would likely be fixed under warranty. They said they can't fix it with new parts if there has been a change order. (It seems to me they would want to fix it with the plastic version so they don't have to do it again.)

Regarding the 2010 model I saw at the auto show, the area where it is torn is hard plastic. It is just like they made the piece larger.. Anyone with a 2010 model and a camera handy?

I am going by dealer tomorrrow - maybe I can see if theirs have it.

I can confirm that the 2010 3.8 Tech has a larger base cover.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Here's a couple pics of the drivers side b pillar vent area taken w/ my cell phone. Aside from being quite dusty/dirty (what can I say, it's Winter), I have no such issues.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for excessive wear from now on though. When I first got the car I wondered how this area would wear over time. Since I'm tall and have my seat all the way back I do rub up against this spot from time to time.

The dealer took pictures of the area today to show the HMA rep. Hopefully will hear something soon.

I will keep you guys updated.

OK - Time to Update.

Its been over 3 weeks, and no word from the dealer. So I called them. The service manager told me on the phone that they had "lost" my information. He did say they ordered a new B pillar. At least I won't have to wait on them to order the part.
