  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rebadge story

Also, the Dealer's service Department approached me and ask if I wanted to have the "RECALL" done while I was there. She stated it was a computer upgrade. I let then do it but haven't been able to tell a difference. Anybody heard of this on a 2012?

See the transmission thread.

Just wanted to let you know of a great vendor on ebay that I have found to have a great selection of Genesis parts and or badges.

The vendor is vip_snow on ebay and was a pleasure to deal with.

Here is a link to the 18" wheel caps that I just received!!

Too much $. Should have saved the dough and just get the black center part (wing) and they can be installed on the current center caps/wheels. $40 total. See other threads.

can you point me in the direction of the thread...I may take the original caps and set them up as a future backup in case I damage any of the ones I purchased...

YAY! I can finally post in this thread!

Besides the VERY CONFUSED and slightly annoyed MB, BMW, and Acura guys (and there have been quite a few in the 5 days I've driven the car), I had my first "mystery car episode":

Been looking for "Liquid Glass" everywhere. No one in my town (or adjacent towns) had it. Finally, I called a place a couple towns over, and the guy said he had a couple of different sizes! I was in business!

Pulled into the parking lot, went inside. As I was paying, a second, older employee asks:

"Is that your black Jag outside?"

"No... but that's my black Hyundai out there in the parking lot."

"THAT'S A HYUNDAI!?!??!"

Needless to say, first proud moment smile of many to come. :)

Really? I thought those of us with 18" wheels had to buy to entire caps. I've never seen the center piece you're talking about.

You purchase the center caps for 30.00 or so for set. Then heat them with hair dryer or in oven at about 175 degrees. Remove the metal cap which is held on with 3m tape. Do same with caps from 18 wheels. Then apply the wing from the 17" small cap to the 18" wheel cap. There is a thread on this. Took me about 20 minutes to do the set.

Too late for me but I found this thread below that gives some details. At least I have an extra set for backup or can try the mod out and put on eBay or so. The trick is to get the 17" caps. They are listed in eBay.

Works with the 19" R Spec wheels also.

Had a guy walk into Radio Shack today (I was picking something up) and ask the manager who's "Guinness" was out in the parking lot. Not only could he not tell what kind of vehicle it was, he couldn't read the Wings either... pretty funny.

Funny story last week. Had my cousin in the car, on our way to soccer, around 8pm. Pull up to a light, and this kid in an Azera pulls up past me on the right. We both stop at a red light. He's gawking at my car with his head pressed to the window. A minute goes by and he's still doing this, so my cousin was like... "umm... what does he want?"

I told him he was probably just curious about what it was, though being a Hyundai owner, he probably realized it was a Genesis and was just admiring it.

Then my cousin freaks out and yells, "he just took a picture of your car!"

I said... "yeah, I get those kinds of reactions every other day" LOL

I left my R-Spec stock. I prefer to answer questions about the H on the back.

"THAT is a Hyundai?"

I just got a 2012 last week. And I'm sort of thinking like you are. I'm enjoying the reaction to the "H" and saying, "yes, it's a Hyundai."

That's fun too... my variation is:

"What is that?"
"It's a Hyundai."
"THAT's a Hyundai?"
"Yep."

I rebadged mine a couple of years ago (I have a '99) I did trunk, tires, steering wheel. I saw genny today with hood decal. Neither my wife or I like it. It just didn't look good.

I have had mine 2 weeks and have everything rebadged except hood. I prefer the plain look of the front. I was really impressed with the steering wheel badge. I don't see the point of changing the airbag. I don't believe you could tell the differnce. It would be nice if they provided some simple instructions on the steering wheel badge. I couldn't decide what the extra tape was for.

The extra tape is to put under the badge to prevent eventual cave-in. The seller should tell you that.
