  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

I hope Genesis gets its act together and addresses these tens of major issues soon. Just by "the word of mouth", blogs and forums, they will lose potential buyers and the confidence of current owners. I am starting to be a bit concerned and frankly scared and regretting my decision of buying this car.
I agree in general that QC is a big issue. Some of these are PDI issues (like the one above). That's also a symptom of having mixed brand dealerships which is actually being rectified as many Hyundai/Genesis dealerships are being separated. PDIs shouldn't be hard to complete but still.

The interior panels in the hatch of my car were so badly put together that the service tech at the dealership thought I had pulled them off and Done a crummy job replacing them.
Nope! That was all original quality!
My PDI was also lackluster. Car was delivered with less than half a charge and I was finding bits of plastic in different places for a couple weeks afterward.

Have to say my PDI was very good. Staff spent almost 2 hours going over vehicle, showing us how to setup/utilize electronics, etc with the car. Also this was at the stand alone Genesis in Edmonton. About the only thing I can fault them for is they never tested Level 3/fast charging with my car which is non functional on my GV60 and has led to it being in for repair since July 22 at the Calgary dealership 😩. However to be fair the standalone dealership only has a Level 2 charger at their site - in my opinion especially based on my unhappy situation todate, all charging levels ie 1, 2 & 3 should be tested as part of the PDI process.

My sales person was good and walked me through the tech and setup. It is the kid that was supposed to clean and prep the vehicle that failed.
I do have some sympathy, though, as I made it clear to the sales person that I was eager to get the vehicle as I had a road trip planned for the following week. Maybe they felt rushed.

My local dealership is Genesis downtown in Toronto. The salesman spent quite a bit of time with me going over all the electronics and I was happy about that.
But I’m not sure about the service department. When I got home and looked under the hood they hadn’t removed any is the plastic coverings. They also left the sticker on the side of the car near the wheel well. So I’m not sure if they did any PDI it all
Having said that the car is running fine and I haven’t had any problems.

Yes, the camera should have been caught at PDI, no doubt.

I took my car for a dc fast charge today (150 kW), it was pre-conditioning the battery, how do I know? Well the coolant pump had clearly never run as it gurgled and farted as it cleared out the air and purged its self. It didn’t last long, but I was surprised it had never run in assembly/test at least!

Which reminds me, I better check the coolant level now….

I sometime wonder what they really for PDI other than the tech doing a quick eyeball for MIL lights, headlights, washer fluid ,coolant, tire pressure and getting the lot guy to quickly clean the car up? Apparently Hyundai allocates 1.8 hours of paid time to do the PDI list. I would be shocked if they actually spent more than 30 minutes with mine.

As my car was a reallocation from another dealer it already had a PDI and then my dealer said they were going to do their own PDI. Based on my past experience with Hyundai I insisted on a predelivery inspection of my own which resulted in me finding the rear hatch being askew and bottom driver's seat cushion's air bladder being non functional. Which they still took their sweet time correcting but I am absolutely positive it would have taken much longer as an after sale concern. Even on delivery day I noticed residual interior protective plastics and adhesive residue on rear hatch that I asked they clean before I left. Common this isn't rocket science.

I got my car back from the second attempt at repairing the issues. They had the car for three days, and again, little was done.

1) Hatch interior panel gaps - The first time the car was in, the tech said that the panel gaps were much worse than another GV60 at the dealership, so much so that they assumed I had removed and replaced them myself. Now they say that they are no worse than others.

2) The hatch noise - Last time, the tech confirmed the noise was unusually loud. Now they say it is no worse than other vehicles.

3) Some progress with the HUD - There was an intermittent problem that they could replicate the first time. They were able to do so this time around. The bad news is that the HUD came back worse than when I left it with them, and has been blank since I received the vehicle back. Estimate is 1-6 months for a replacement unit.

4) Monthly report - Despite suggesting more than a month ago that they contact Genesis for advice on how to repair, they did not do so until this week, so are waiting for direction on how to address it.

5) The part to fix the exterior panel gap was replaced. I can’t tell the difference between the old and news ones.

Had some rain yeaterday. Put the car in reverse and was greated by lovely blue waves. Dealer suggested that water got into the camera and has ordered a replacement. After sitting in the garage overnight camera functions normally. Proximity sensors were not impacted at all.

Just curious, how much is Genesis paying all you brave new GV60 owners to perform post delivery vehicle diagnosis?
Check Tesla, Rivian and Lucid and these issues are common now a days. Tesla has changed the car buyers expectations forever that EV's will have post purchase issues and deal with it. Doesn't matter its 25K or 200K car.

First actual problem. The liftgate is acting up. It makes a slight noise but does not start opening when I push the button (on liftgate, on fob or on dash). When I start opening it by hand pushing the button does cause it to open the rest of the way. More urgently, it also does not latch. I have to open it a little manually and give it a little shove down otherwise it is loose, the trunk light stays on and it beeps as soon as I move.

I recently noticed my passenger seat heater/ventilation button is broken. It tends to stick on the heat settings physically. They confirmed it was faulty button and has been ordered.

There is a recall for the trunk opening functionality. That May correct your issue.

Do you know if that recall is for the Ioniq 5 also, since there are no Genesis dealers in Maryland allowed to work on the GV60 yet.

Do you mind sharing your pre-delivery checklist as that would be great to use as part of my pickup inspection etc

It is a recall or merely a TSB?
I suppose it depends on how you distinguish between the two. My paperwork refers to it as a recall, but my definition of a recall would require a communication to owners encouraging them to bring the vehicle in - which didn't appear to happen in this case. However, my understanding of a TSB is that is just a communication to dealers that describes how to address a common issue.
What happened in this case seems to be something in between - where they executed some work on the vehicle even though I did not report either of the related concerns.

Its nothing fancy but basically I treat a new car no different than I would an unknown used car. I first do a google for the most common complaints on that particular vehicle. I do a body check that includes panel alignment, and look for any defects in paint, glass headlight, tail lights, wheel/tire damage. Take the time to actually look underneath the car and look for non obvious delivery damages. I do the same for interior looking for defect's , tears, stains, operating every switch, window actuator, open/ close each door, sit in back seat, recline operate the passenger seat, etc. Check to see if all the accessories such as V2L adapter, level 1 charger, tow hook and manuals are present. Finally I will take it for a nice long drive both in city and highway speeds, listening abnormal sounds, wind noise, cruise control, sense of alignment, and rough headlight aim if its in the evening, not mention check all the lights. Its Important to take your time doing these checks and I usually do them over one or more visits before the actual delivery day. I find folks are too excited, tired, overwhelmed by paper work or whatever and just want to get the new car home on delivery date, way too easy to overlook or gloss over problems.

We got our car about 2 weeks ago and still waiting for a trip to the dealer (appointment made) to get on the alignment rack, as there's definitely a slight misalignment even from the get-go.

Am wondering if others have experienced the following:
1. Squeaking / creaking sound at times near the seat belt buckle release (driver-side) - sounds like leather rubbing, or something inside the seat itself
2. Leather defect in the rear seat (it looks like an indentation that you might see when the seats are folded down - but this mark hasn't gone away yet)
can you please post a picture of the rear seat leather seat defect
