Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

It’s not only the rear windshield, but the entire lower section of the hatch gets dirty rather easily. I think I read that it was due to the short rear overhang so the rear wheels kick up dirt right on it. I do have the factory mud flaps but doesn’t seem to help.

Just tried mine and had the same thing happen. Now, I'm in the middle of a blizzard and my GV60 is a couple hundred miles away in the shop so take that info with a grain of salt.

My car has started to switch to snow mode when I long press drive mode button instead of my custom setting. Anyone else have this issue lately? Started a few weeks ago when I got it back from dealership. I had to go into settings and set it back to custom mode but it reverts back at random.

CABIN AIR FILTER LEAKS

Help required from RHD owners please!

A number of drivers in the UK have posted here or on Facebook, reporting the issue of water leaking into the cabin air filter on their GV60s.

This has manifested itself in several ways:

(1) Damp/mouldy smells from the climate control;

(2) Burning smell from the climate control when the heater is on (which may or may not be part of the same problem);

(3) Poor climate control generally - eg can't set it and leave it like in most cars;

(4). Importantly, serious problems with steaming up all the time, which can be very hard to prevent/rectify as you are driving.

I have experience of the problem and am also the victim of Genesis sending my car back saying that they had fixed the problem when that was untrue,

Please can as many GV60 owners as possible to check their air filters to see if they are wet and, if so, to report it to Genesis and post on this forum. If enough people complain then surely Genesis will start to take it seriously, which they are not at the moment. It only takes 2 minutes.

There is a link to a video on Youtube showing how to check the filter is just below, although if you have the RWD version the panel at the back of the front trunk that you need to clip open is slightly different (but obvious even to someone as rubbish with such things as I am).

I suspect that many are unaware of the problem. For my part, for a long time I simply thought that the climate control system was just poor compared with my previous Audi A6. It often gave a musty smell and sometimes a burning smell and I was constantly having to fiddle with it to get the heat right. It was only when I hit the point that I couldn't see out of the windows because they steamed up uncontrollably that I looked at my filter and found that it was literally covered in water.

The problem appears to be that there is no adequate seal at the bottom of the windscreen and the water runs into the filter. The flex in the brand new scuttle panel on mine is unbelievable - I took a video of it after they returned the car (briefly) having (or so they told me) replaced the panel.

If anybody else has (a) the wet filter and/or (b) the flex in the scuttle panel then please can they let me know. Many thanks

At least we have buttons. I wish they were aluminum engraved but most new EVs don't have buttons and switches at all.

Could it be a protective film that has not been removed (but should have been as part of the pre hand over checks from the garage)? My understanding is most the buttons are aluminium and I though I had a similar pealing problem on the front passenger side trim until I realised it was a clear film that none of the other three doors had.

I’ll leave it to the folks at the dealership to sort out. It doesn’t appear to be a protective film as the colour and texture have lifted. Next time I’m in the car I’ll try to shine a light under it and have a look from the top.

Guess what I have the same on the same button, but on mine it feels solid. Never spotted it before and it is in a different position to yours. It's a button I rarely use.

I'm mixed on this. Because whatever it is should be durable, but at the same time, I'm somewhat relieved it's not painted plastic like the Ioniq 5 uses (and at least this is inside rather than exposed to the elements).

I figured the "aluminum trim" was a sort of veneer over the plastic, so I'm not too surprised they are doing other bits like this.

My understanding is most the buttons are aluminium and I though I had a similar pealing problem on the front passenger side trim until I realised it was a clear film that none of the other three doors had.

We've had enough cold in our area that I've had time to learn what wicks heat like aluminum in the interior, and what doesn't. The only buttons that felt like there may be any metal in the surface are the ones on the steering wheel, and those are still set in a plastic surround. It's not impossible some other buttons use a metal veneer as well though, as a very thin veneer won't wick as much heat from fingers in the cold.

Is that panel under the glass suppose to detach like that?

I unfortunately cannot say if it’s suppose to be like that since I’ve had my front windshield replaced and the windshield tech has messed up on the install and it’s leaking water.

Mine has residues of adhesive that has broken away from the windshield though.

I am not sure. The previous one did, and since it was replaced in the last couple of weeks it is exactly the same, if not worse. There seems to be no support for a flimsy panel.

Would a bead of tri/hybrid sealant, eg CT1/Stixall, which also cures if wet, along that flimsy joint fix it? I've been unable to easily pull those apart once cured. I fixed a couple of leaky corner joints in 1500 litre rubber bag water tanks in 2019 and no problems since.
From a pic I saw of the air intake below the panel, possibly fabricate a lid/cover for the air intake trunking which looks to be open vertically. This would just leave the horizontal part of the opening, which might reduce airflow.

I am not technically minded enough to want to try it myself, and one of my concerns would be that it comes apart some time later leaving me with the problem rather than Genesis. There is an obvious gap between the screen and the panel as well as the flex. I can see that one solution for the company might be a cover for the air intake, but there is an unhealthy amount of water getting into that area of the car generally, so it would be a sticking plaster rather than a proper solution.

I agree it is a tricky one and the manufacturer timescale is just not good enough.
A chum has a Ford based motorhome and a water leak in the same area trashed fuel injectors. The aftermarket business quickly had a cover available to deflect the water away.
If it was me, I'd get a tube of sealant and run a thin bead along/inside that "loose" edge and extend 400mm?? either side of the air intake plenum.
And argue with Genesis about "Merchantable quality - fit for purpose" etc if required.
A 300ml tube would give enough to practice with on something else.
