Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

Since purchasing the GV60 in early December 2023, it has been in the shop for over 6 months. There were several 2-5 day stints, then one just over 2 months, and now the recent one over 3 months. It was bought in Victoria, BC. 1/3 to 1/2 the mileage on the car has been put on running back and forth to dealer.

The dealer has admitted that they are having serious issues with GV60 software. I would never recommend to anyone to buy a GV60, their software is nowhere near ready for primetime. All the features they advertise are for nothing, at any one time several will not be available. I mean if you cant even figure out how to make doors unlock upon approach with key, you're not in the game.

We are waiting for a call from their "legal department" , we want a refund. If we can't come to agreement we will have to go the legal route. Youtube videos will be made.
Sorry to hear. My Mach-E was often in the shop for minor stuff, about 3 months in two years. The Mach-E software, OTA's and promised features were dismal. They added infotainment games to try and keep people happy. In 9 months of owning the GV60P I must say it is far better than the Mach-E. I hope you get resolution soon.

With the fob in my pocket, the doors unlock and the handles pop out as I approach (unless I have first opened the hatch which actually makes sense to me).

Does your car not work that way? What other software features has Genesis advertised on the GV60 that don't work for you?

FYI: I don't know Canadian law but be careful of what you say which could be subsequently misconstrued in a court.

That sucks. I bought mine July 2024 in the U.S. and the software has been great.

Well first it was maps not displaying any names on roads, they couldn't figure it out so they replaced head unit. It was after they replaced head unit that things went crazy, the map started to work, door handle pop out would only work if it was a short time from locking car, overnight was too long. The hatch opening when standing behind stopped working about 90% of the time, fingerprint stopped working. I parked the car one night in garage, driving it next day was a thumping coming from front driver wheel like, image thump thump and it speeding up with car, I thought maybe electronic brake stuck, they fixed that but still concerning when it had 2k on car. It will even randomly just do funny stuff like lane warning wont work etc. In my opinion they have mechanics trying to fix software and electronic problems and the software released in the is vehicle is rookie like and a tragedy. There are many other things I could say about car but I will hold back for a bit and see how they treat me. Thank you

I hope it continues that way for you, very lucky

Sorry to hear that, but almost certainly that is a hardware issue, and from your second post I would suggest it is on the bus between components, maybe a break which was exacerbated by the removal and replacement of the head unit.

Sorry you're having all those problems. Like the others mentioned, I've had nothing like any of those problems - hope that continues.

Where are you located (state). Many states have lemon laws. I sold my BMW back to BMW as a lemon but bought another and it was rock solid. So...do you have a lemon law opportunity?

There are no lemon laws here in Canada. We have a company called Camvap where they get both parties together to possibly get a resolution, they have a 41% success rate on getting the vehicle fixed at the dealership. This company is also funded by car companies, go figure.

Our only recourse is to take them to court, and to let everyone know what Genesis thinks of their customers and their cars through social media and the rest of the internet.

I mean the car drives but why would anyone accept completely buggy software to the point of most advertised features not working on a car that costs 90k (tax included)? Its now 1 1/2 year later and its still not fixed.

BTW they gave me a 2024 GV60 for the last 3 months, it has 400km on it so basically brand new. The driver mirror does not fold in when turned off, left side of the steering wheel controls have quit working a few times, only ONCE but the touch display did not respond to touch. So how much work are they actually putting in to correcting the GV60 that they KNOW is really buggy?

Your software in Canada must be somehow different from ours in the US. I have not had the problems you describe with one minor exception. Sometimes I have to touch the touch screen more than once to get it to recognize that I am depressing it. But my mirrors work perfectly. my steering wheel controls have always worked.

I was/am on the Lucid Air forum as I was on the waiting list for a couple of years for a RWD Lucid Air Pure when the GV60P popped up in my market and I went for it as it checked as many boxes for me as the Lucid (just different ones). There are far more complaints there of buggy software and similar reports of folks having software issues at Porsche, Mercedes, etc. In a year and a half, my GV60 has been excellent.

Alternatively, you could be the model for Joe btfsplk :D:

I'm thousands of miles away from my GV60P but isn't there a setting to change the pressure sensitivity of the touch screen? Steering Wheel controls have been an issue in the US, it was fixed last year for those of us that had the issue.

I don't recall ever seeing a touch screen sensitivity setting on the GV60 - or anywhere else for that matter.

There's a control for the haptic intensity of the climate screen, but that's it. It doesn't affect how it works, just the vibration feedback it gives to confirm a click.

This must have been what I was thinking about.

Add me to the list of ICCU failures. My ICCU completely failed this morning on my way to a family 4th of July BBQ. Heard a lot pop in the rear seat area and instantly knew it was the ICCU and/or the fuse. Recalls were all up-to-date too.

Oh, not good if an ICCU recall has been done.
Had you previously just had software/firmware ICCU fix or new hardware?

Man that sucks. I had the recall done last month before a road trip. As I had no stored codes so they only flashed the ICCU module, no hardware changes. At least they are now going have to change your ICCU and battery fuse hopefully with revised new parts.

Honestly your scenario was on my mind for nearly the entirety of our recent 4500 mile road trip. Travelling through parts of Nevada it was like 1-2 hours between towns or any signs of humanity, often with no cell service. I carried a spare tire with me but if it was anything more complicated like the ICCU/fuse popping we would have been seriously hooped.

Ron, I am truely sorry to hear of your troubles. I got to say most of the problems you are experiencing are not typical or specifically endemic to the GV60 or the greater e-GMP group of Hyundai/Kia cars. There is clearly something very wrong with your vehicle. I appreciate how frustrating that is. I had a similar experience with my old Kona EV. Hyundai Canada is absolutely non responsive when you ask them for a buyback. Their Genesis division might be slightly better but I have my doubts.

If you really want to continue to beat your head against the wall you should hire the lawyer, continue with several months/years of stewing vitriol and sue them. I agree don't bother with CAMVAP. I know your mad with Genesis/Hyundai but honestly the less stressful and generally easier solution is just get rid of the vehicle. Yeah you will probably take a loss but you will be happier in the end. I also understand some folks just like to gripe, if that's the case please just carry on, you have every right to. Best of luck, regardless.

Yeah, I had the ICCU software update and P1A9096 DTC check done back during the first week of May. Fast forward to July 4, ICCU fails and high voltage fuse popped. Double checked with my OBD scanner on the codes and it spit out P1A9096 which was the exact DTC in the latest ICCU TSB. My level 2 charger would not work as the car kept saying the audible "Charging Unsuccessful" message. Double checked my battery monitor and the voltage of my 12v battery gradually drained. Usually it would stay in the 14v area when the car was turned on (ICCU properly charging the 12v).

Also, thank god this happened at my home since I was able to trickle charge my 12v battery. I was able to limp the car out of my garage and right underneath the tow truck's lift. Otherwise, it would go into a "Turtle" mode and deplete the 12v battery. It would have been terrifying if this occurred on the freeway  can you imagine your car losing complete power on a 65 mph highway??

Furthermore, the software update recall didn’t prevent this failure sadly. I was at 19,723 miles. All recalls up-to-date.
