  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

Navy Interior :)

Pay the man! I have the matterhorn white (matte) with the torrent navy and it is my favorite color combination. If I had to pick another combo it would be the Mint/Ash.

Hi all,
Very appreicative to see these comments. My 2024 GV60 (that I began leasing end of Jan 2024) with under 3.400 miles has been at the dealers now for over 4 weeks. I've been told it is a BMS (Battery Management System) issue. I was alerted because I recieved a notice (from the car?) that there was an emergent electrical issue that needed attention. I have no idea what to do. The dealer did give me a loaner car (another GV60) so fortunately I haven't been without transportation. However, the only update I've been given is that they are waiting to hear from Genesis on what to do next.
Up until this point, there hasn't been anything out of whack with the car...at least not on a consistent basis. The console phone charger worked intermittently...there was one time the face recognition on the door failed to unlock...but I can't say anything truly alarming or consistent.

Any suggestions to push this along?

why? Go ahead and put miles on the loaner. When you eventually get yours back, it will be almost new and you will be nowhere close to whatever mileage allowance you have on the lease.

My view is that if they give me a quality loaner, they can keep my car as long as they need to.

....You know...that makes an incredible amount of sense...
Ha! Patience is a virtue. Thanks.

Agree wholeheartedly! I spent close to six months in various loaners last summer.

Hallelujah!! The dealership has decided to replace the car with a new 2024.

Now what colour?
They offered:
Black with black int
Black with white int
Red with grey/white int
Red with black int

My original was white with black int
Update!!!

After they informed me the colour I selected had arrived and ready for pickup, they sent paperwork over showing my 2023 as a trade-in on a 2024 and wanted 17k difference. Stay far away from Genesis and Genesis Victoria, they don't operate in good faith in fact crooked. The Kot family owns this dealership among several other Hyundai and Genesis dealerships. I guess thats how you become big.

The GV60 is a very flawed car, not ready.

I have recordings of Genesis Canada saying the dealership will replace the car, I have texts where sales person said they will be replacing car. Let's see where this goes.

Don't buy Genesis.

A strange thing happened to me, today, for the second time (the first being in late August): when I got to the car after a having it plugged in to charge for 11 hours, the 12V battery was dead. The battery was at ~50% this morning, and it had it set to stop at 80%, so it would have needed to charge for only four hours or so.
I started the car with a booster pack, and noticed that the battery read 82% - which is odd given the 80% setting. There was a message saying that there was an error with the vehicle control system, and the details referred to a low DC-DC converter. I'm not sure whether this message is the result of the dead battery or a symptom of whatever problem caused it.

Oh good grief! Loony, you’ve really gone through it :-( My friend’s 2023 Ioniq 5 just coughed up its lousy 12v lead-acid OEM crap battery after just 1 year. Most of the current EV models (including Tesla, Rivian, and certainly all 3 E-GMP platform cars) are suffering 12v and ICCU failures at simply STUPID rates given reports on these and many other forums/youtube channels. He finally went with a Costco AGM deep cycle 12v batt as recommended by many on the EV forums.

It’s insane that a car so seemly good can be brought down by a $70 ancient tech 12v batt and junk software. These systems should be so much smarter by now.

Please keep us posted on the batt and ICS systems fails and repairs.

Seriously, you have been the most unfortunate vehicle owner I have ever seen (and, I might add, a very helpful one). Maybe you should create an LLC, or its Canadian equivalent, to try to fool the car gods into thinking it is not you!

As I have previously stated, please try to stay the course as I will miss you. In the meantime, my car has been in for routine maintenance (and had recalls done at the same time) but in a year and a half and 22K miles I have not had a problem.

My man, sending you some luck. I can only imagine how painful it is to deal with these kind of recurring annoyance when all we really want is a working car!

Very unfortunate and also sending you some "luck" vibes. Please let us know what service says. I am wondering if it makes sense to proactively replace the 12v in these EV's I can't tell you how many stories I have read about dead 12v's in various EV forums (Rivian is littered with them).

I don't think the standard 12v batteries are designed to deal with the demand characteristics of an EV vs an ICE vehicle where they are mostly helping turn over the engine.

Should probably be a new thread. I'm curious as well.

The Mustang Mach E that we just traded in for our GV60 got a new battery at 36 months because they also could have the dreaded lockout syndrome. There is a maker that is making a 12v Lithium battery that is guaranteed to be a drop in replacement for the present 12 AGM batteries. I have to be a little skeptical though as Lithium batteries need a higher recharge voltage than a 12v lead acid battery. People who have installed them though swear by them as they have a much higher amp hour rating than present battery.

It's design flaw, that the 12V battery does not charge sufficiently when parked. The real solution is to always carry the physical key with you (the actual key, not the fob. I'm not sure why Genesis opted for a separate key instead of the industry standard which has a physical key inside the fob), and have a 12V battery jump starter in the frunk. You need the physical key to unlock the car so you can open the frunk, where the 12V battery is located.

Guess I can share my story now that I just got my car back from Genesis…a few weeks ago my GV60 tripped my L2 charger at home prior to completing its normal charge. I reset my fuse box and tried charging again. It wouldn’t charge and when I checked the car my interior felt quite warm. My dashboard popped up with a “pls check electrical system” msg. As I recall from some posts here I was worried about driving it to my dealer and got a tow thru Genesis Roadside assistance (via AAA). I had previously just set up an appt to get the ICCU recall done anyway so figured I was unlucky. There was some initial miscommunication between AAA and my Genesis dealer so it sat at the dealer for a week before I was given an update. Not a good start but the SM was sincere and apologetic, which I appreciated rather than giving me some BS excuse. So it turned out that my ICCU did malfunction and needed to be physically replaced, not just a software update. Took another week or so for the part to arrive and replaced. There was no mention of any issue with the 12V battery so don’t believe it was replaced. The car was delivered back to me so total time in shop was about 3 weeks. Everything seems to be working fine now and all other updates completed. (I do enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay but wish Google Maps appears on dash in addition to just Apple Maps!) I guess I’m somewhat satisfied with the overall experience, as feedback on this site often mentions Genesis dealers are still not fully staffed/equipped to give a total “luxury experience” (I agree they need to be). I’ve had my car since Aug 2022 and this has been one of my fav cars I’ve ever owned, so really hope the customer experience continues to improve.

Oh boy, I had not thought of that. I have not been carrying the physical key with me all the time. Thanks for the warning.
