Streets. From what I investigated you are correct. For Europe. And guys like Audi, BMW, Ford, have one design globally. So, that is why they all look like a grill that has a plastic blow up doll open mouth look. Ugly.

Honda on the other hand has American designed cars that do not need this Euro-crap. So the Civic and other cars are much more fuel efficient with their handsome aerodynamic looks. And no "blow up BJ doll mouth grill".

Also the hoods on these Euro trash forces designs are much higher at the base is the windshield to "help" the two pedestrians a year who bounce up the hood to be "cradled" and have supposed less injury.

This is chaos. In this case globalist "do-gooder" self destructive euro trash tyranny.

One option is to have both the rotary knob and touchscreen. I haven't bought one of the German cars because i can't stand the rotary knob interface. Infiniti offers both.

I'm not a fan of touch screens. My tablet has smudges all over the screen and gets difficult to see in bright light. The screen is already difficult enough to see when the sun is at the wrong angle (or right angle haha).

I'm used to my knob and like it. Just my 2 cents!

Tempted to trade in my '12 Sonata 2.0T for a leftover '13 Taurus SHO but would like to get the Genesis if it's offered with almost 400HP Twin Turbo and AWD for under $45k. What are the chances??

The touch screen is requires too much attention distraction from the road for hitting the correct buttons. A rotary know isn't perfect...it can require quite a bit of entry to navigate the menus.

The best is on the Audi and 2014 BMWs which combines the rotary knob with buttons and a touchpad. The touch pad does character recognition (like Google Gesture). It is the quickest way to make selections and navigate destination and contact lists and doesn't require taking your eyes off the road.

I prefer the BMW configuration where the touchpad is on top of the rotary knob to the Audi's where it is along side the knob.

There are lots of questions of how well Hyundai will integrate new technology and if they've made their ride/handling mix more competitive with current luxury cars.

This is an ever evolving subject. As pointed out here touch screen and the DIS knob are not mutually exclusive.
Also, the risk of deviate the focus of the driver is always present and should be minimized. I wouldn't say it can be zeroed.
When I mention touch screen I also imagine a better interface. (not the one currently available)
The points of BMW and Audi are very good, and, again, not mutually exclusive with everything we discussed.
Just to bring a new point: having the User Manual available (and help/options screens) would be great. Most of us simply don't use the bulky printed manuals.
Price: again, potential distraction of the user.
In my opinion this is a never ending subjet.
Again, in my opinion having all the assets already present in Android is paramount.
The price of developing a complex and near perfect system are too high. The complexities to enhance / update them too. (see GPS update nightmares/price)

To the OP, or anyone else who has seen the 2015 Genesis undisguised, I must ask: does the new Genesis have any kind of badge on the front, whether it be the winged Genesis emblem, or even the Hyundai emblem?

That's something I never liked about the current car; the lack of an emblem on the front fascia. It always made me think of the car as some generic mock-up a graphic design artist would conjure up for a Mercedes brochure. Good thing many of the owners, and dealers, around here are prone to putting the Genesis emblems on the front of their cars.

What is difficult is having enter text. They need to make that interface much simpler by letting you say the letters to enter rather than trying to find the letter either by touch screen or some type of controller.

Most other tasks can be done either by touch or controller.

I find the DIS in my 2011 Genesis very easy. Much better than my previous car, a 2005 Acura touch screen. I have had my 2011 since Sept. of 2010. Voice control works well 90% of the time. The Genesis DIS is much better than either of my Mercedes and light years ahead of BMW.

I expect I would like the Genesis system better than i-drive. I was comparing it to Toyota and Ford touch screen systems. Some of the current Genesis models are touch screen and I expect them to have a better interface.

I think the 2015 Genesis has a lot of potential. I expect I am going to really like the car, with the exception of the nav interface. Every other car I am looking at has something I don't like about it. The question is which vehicle offers the best overall package. The Genesis is definitely still in the running.

Touch screen systems are just awful. Not only do you have to clean the damn screen all the time but it is much more difficult to enter things on the fly without having to lean up a bit to reach it or pull over. Maybe its me but being 6'4" is an issue for touch screens. My wife has one in her 2012 Azera and I don't like anything about it when it comes to operating. Keep the dial based nav system Hyundai but I do hope the voice command has is vastly improved for wide command recognition.

Radio controls on the steering wheel only change to the presets not scan or next station up or down the dial and there aren enough presets on my 2010. Fluid voice command would change everything.

As far as the new sedan I hope more images come soon. I was actually hoping for a bit more drastic styling changes but to early to really say.
