I asked my installer about adding to our system with the 7.1 and said impossible.
You could do it if you remove the 7.1 system and start fresh.
If possible, I would love to add more bass and louder.

Absolutely not correct. I have a JL Audio 600W amp and 2 JL Audio 10" subs running through my 7.1 system. Mine is actually a 7.3 system now with the factory sub and both JL subs going at once.

I get many complements on the sound quality of my system and it is plenty loud enough.

Here it is. I have enough room for my pool sticks and my over-sized Ping Tour Pro golf bag with a little bit of room to spare. Plenty of room for my needs

The edge of the box just over-lays the edge of the "hump" right behind the rear seats. There is enough space to access the spare tire.

I also have a 2012 genesis r type. I had my local installer add a high low pass filter and connect a alpine 500 watt amp to 2 Rockford r2 12in subs, but it seems like the signal it is getting sound horrible. I have even replaced the high low filter with a lc2 line out converter and it made a small difference. I can barley here the bass in the car. I know it is well insulated but I would think 2 12s @ 500 watt rms would sound good. So I have know purchase a new dual amp not the cheap dual amps it was 250 and it produces 2500 watt at 1ohm rms and have ordered 3 Alpine type r subs and they will be wired for a 1.3ohm load. But I don't know if that is going to fix the problem. The place that installed it said they tapped into the subwoofer from the factory amp but is it possible they tapped into a mid or high level output? I will double check tonight as I am going to install the new stuff and double check the old install.

From my experience it sounds like you have your subs hooked up in opposite directions which means they are cancelling out each other's sound. Try unhooking one to see if that helps.

Has anyone sent any test tones to their sub setup to see what signal is being sent through the tapped stock subwoofer line? I'm sure its being EQ'd from the amp and I'm curious what it's cutting. Based on the fact that its a free air 8" I'm betting its cutting anything below 40 substantially and likely attenuating certain frequencies as the volume increases.

I'm designing a ported box for my genesis and am contemplating tuning frequency.

The base levels are consistent down to 31Hz. It drops off steadily from there down to 21.7Hz where it fades to nothing. I can tell that the bass sound is steadily increasing up to about 35 on the volume. After that, my car is too loud to tell if there is any more volume output from the bass.

My box with 2 JL Audio 10W0v3-4s is tuned at the factory recommended 42Hz. It responds well and will replicate all music tones with ease. For instance, it will replicate Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" bass tones in the opening. That bass rattles the whole car and has a good, solid bass tone to it. I figure that sound is somewhere in the 32Hz area, but that is just a guess.

I was wondering, has anybody ever just replaced the 8 inch subwoofer in place with a 10 inch, like a Kicker, and maybe an extra amp to drive it with a little more punch?

I am not 100% sure here but I believe the reason either of those doesn't work well is the free air design does not give it the "punch" we are looking for.

I have seen 8" bass tubes that give some decent punch but I have never heard of free air 10's or even 12's that hit that well.
Granted I am not in the audio world and have not seen all that it has to offer.

Free air can do incredibly well, and has super low bass, however a car with an oem setup is not ideal for it.

2 JL Audio 10W6 V3's in a sealed box powered by Audison Voce Uno.

Matched the wood interior on the accent trim and on the baffle of the box. Also stuck in some LED lighting.

More than enough bump and blends well with the stock. I originally thought it would overpower the front stage, but the final product was ..... perfect.

It really does. Any chance you recorded the box dimensions?

The only downside, and I had the same problem in the Coupe and never finished a box, is that I have to lose the cargo protector to do it, or buy one to hack up so it ends at the front of the box.

I had a shop do it. They designed the box to JL spec. I believe it's 0.55 per woofer. The end result was a super small box. I was skeptical at first on output, but far surpassed my expectations.

I really wanted a good install as we all know, the install is the most critical part. These guys were awesome.

I am so late but this is a beautiful install!!! I see you still have space in the trunk too!! I am a little hesitant due to our Lexicon systems and what it would take to integrate well. The front end with center channel does sound well but the bottom end does not have 100% punch I am used to.

Since our seats do not fold down, how were they able to massage a nice box in like that?
