The TSB may not apply to 2018+ cars as probably the part numbers changed. However the concept of hard shifting still revolves around fluid, solenoids, valve body and clutches. We will tackle them in this order.Sure I can definitely do that, but my question is more about does this actually apply to 2018+ because the tsb only mentions 2018.
I still suggest you start by replacing the fluid and the pan first. If the problem persists then go for changing the solenoids at a certified dealer or a good workshop.Took the service tech with me for a drive, he felt it, but is hesitant to start troubleshooting with replacing the solenoids, etc...because there was no DTC.....dealer quoted me $1400 for the TSB as I'm out of warranty, problem could get real serious if this leads to larger trans problems.
Hi. Not sure if it is to late but any jerking when gear shifts from 2-3 3-4 4-5, you need to replace 2 solenoids from the valve body which is located in the transmission. O was able to replace the solenoids which fixed the jerking. Good luck.Curious if anyone has seen this issue with a 2017 G80 jerk/rough shifting when going into 3rd gear only? All other gears are smooth. I have been experiencing this issue lately with my G80 and you can feel it when it shift from 2-3rd gear. Initially it happened when I am turning and I take my foot of the gas to slow down then step on the accelerator, then you feel the jerk. Now it happens in all driving conditions.
...The ultimate fix was what’s been stated here: drain and replace the transfer case fluid...
I have been having the same issue for two years. Nobody could seem to figure it out. I ahve a 2018 G80 sport. 77k on it. Is this something Genesis sill cover under warranty? Here is the TSB for 2017 model.

I'll find out. This bulletin days 2017. But mine is 2018 and a different model. I have the 3.3 sport. Not sure about the warranty coverage.
There is a possibility that its applicable.I'll find out. This bulletin days 2017. But mine is 2018 and a different model. I have the 3.3 sport.
Hi Wjcola, it is the same with the 2018 model. I had that issue on my 2017 model. I ended up replacing the whole valve body plus all the senoids, myself, now everything is working without any problem. Hope this will help you.I am having a similar problem with my 2018 G80 Sport, beginning this past summer. It is a jerking/bucking between 10 and 35 MPH, especially when the car is warm, or in warmer weather (it really does not happen much in the current colder weather). I am getting no codes from the system. I see some have replaced a solenoid - is there a TSB for the 2018's (the one attached was for 2017 3.8L)?

I have a 2017 G80 5.0 with 85,000 miles on it. I'm the original owner. It started the dreaded jerk around 65,000 miles. I have taken it to rhe Genesis dealer here in Alabama (before they closed) and the issue could never be replicated by tech. Had the transmission serviced, and it helped a little but it ultimately got worse again over time. Now with 85,000 miles and my power train warranty expiring at 100,000 I had it looked at by the local Hyundai dealership. The tech was in total disbelief that I had been driving with this issue. They told me that because it was a 2017 they can still work on it. It would jerk so hard that I thought it was about to break apart. Since I was the original owner, they submitted the paperwork and it was covered under the power train warranty. They had it for about two weeks and I just got it back today. I had a few other things done ( brake flush and alignment) and she drive like she's brand new again. This is my third Genesis. I had the 2009, 2013 and the 2017. I love the styling and the way the drive. I agree with everyone the Genesis service does need to be better.Curious if anyone has seen this issue with a 2017 G80 jerk/rough shifting when going into 3rd gear only? All other gears are smooth. I had a similar issue with my 2018 G80 Sport several years ago. I considered several of the remedies mentioned in the thread, including the solenoid, however one of the posts suggested I have the fluid in the transfer case changed, which is relatively simple and cheap. I did so, and the problem is gone, and remains so to date. You might try that first, before getting into more complex and expensive steps.Curious if anyone has seen this issue with a 2017 G80 jerk/rough shifting when going into 3rd gear only?
