We’ve had 2 loaners during our GV60 ownership.

- An EGV70 that was valet-dropped off at my house
- The aforementioned Elantra, which they offered to drop off, but I declined.

No Audi dealer EVER offered to valet/drop off a loaner, so I figure I’m ahead on that front with Genesis…

I would have loved to have an EGV70 as a loaner and even the 3 liter ICE version would have been okay.

Not this time but the time before I called for an appointment. The dealership service department is only a close 4 high speed miles away so I offered to bring it in and pick up the loaner. The SA told me that the only way they could guarantee me a loaner was to use the valet service, so I did. I suspect that Genesis corporate is subsidizing the valet service.

I would not have been happy with an Elantra but I would have been fine with a top line Ionic 5 or 6.

I’d be much more miffed about whatever sidelined your car and the time it took for Genesis roadside assistance to help!

It is simple. I paid >$70K for it and at that price I expect good service. You might consider a HUD fancy...I consider it essential. You might consider being able to accelerate into a traffic gap fancy, I consider it a basic requirement. I didn't buy a car with 10 to 1 weight to HP ratio for that.

Sad News. My ICCU unit just failed. heard a "pop" sound in the back seat and then the warning lights and then loss of power. Good thing I was close to home. Trying to get it towed to Genesis. Car is 3 years old and only about 5,500 miles.

His hypothesis is that it is humidity/moisture/condensation from the cabin through the breather-vent on the ICCU (or at least that is what I gathered). Zero idea how legit this is/is not, but it was an interesting read. SIdenote - I was always curious about the GV60 (E-GMP) setting to dry the cabin automatically, 30 mins after you part, having run the A/C - ostensibly to prevent mold/odors, but maybe more?

"The Genesis GV60 has an "auto dry" feature that runs the fan after the car is turned off to dry the air conditioning system, which helps prevent mold growth and musty odors. You can enable this feature through the vehicle's climate settings, by navigating to Setup > Vehicle > Climate > Climate Features and checking "Air conditioner auto dry". When this is active, you may hear the fan run for a short time after you park and exit the vehicle to dry the evaporator coils. "

Valet service and a loaner are reasonable to expect based on Genesis’ messaging on the topic. Anything beyond that is at the discretion of the dealer.

Good news. After the ICCU blew on Friday morning. It was towed to Genesis at 4pm and at 4:20pm a service advise called me to advise they will check the car out. Sat. 8:30am they confirmed it was the ICCU. Sat. 4:30 pm the service adviser called, and they have a new ICCU and it will be installed today and I can pick up the car tomorrow (Sunday) morning. I also had them do a voltage check on the 3 year old 12 volt battery and they said it does not need to be replaced. So far it's been great service at Dublin Genesis in Northern California. Once I get the car back I'll report if there are still any issues after the new ICCU install. I did not need a loaner car.

Beat me to posting that German EE’s fix. One interesting note that he had was that from the data that he has gathered from ioniq5s in Germany, the ICCU failing seems to spike during winter time.

He also mentioned his breather vent on his new iccu seems to be blocked by Hyundai (or is a one off) but mentioned that failures of 2024 ICCU is still occurring so this may only be a partial solution.

I do not think the ac drying feature has anything to do with the ICCU since it’s designed to dry the condenser (unfortunately by blowing the moist air into the cabin). Also my Kia carnival hybrid also has this feature.

They claim it dilutes the brand but who knows how much was truth and how much was made up.

This dealership is very much “Hyundai first”, and wasn’t even selling the Genesis EV lineup when we bought ours, so I wasn’t that surprised.

So I spoke to the CA who is filling in for my CA who is off for the rest of the week. He basically blew me off. He said that my appointment for the windshield upper molding safety recall just got me into the queue which is bullshit because I got the same treatment as if I had just driven in. So they still haven't even looked at it. I then asked about getting a vehicle closer in value and features to my car (the loaner MSRP is only about 70% of mine). He told me that I was lucky to get a loaner as they are all out. Ne never said he was sorry for anything nor that they were doing anything to speed up the queue such as hiring more workers.

There are two aspects for buying a car -- buying the car and dealing with the dealership afterwards. I love my car but I am thinking that I will be back to BMW or Lucid or someone else because the dealership is apparently indifferent to its customers. The local BMW dealership would never have acted this way. It is a shame but Genesis has not gotten the secret sauce right about selling and servicing a luxury automobile.

It seems like we’re living similar lives, right now.

I had my GV60 in for service - including the windshield recall - and the dealership said they got an ICCU failure message when road testing the car.
I’m now driving a GV70 with an absolutely sh@tty powertrain, and no idea when I’ll get my car back, because I’ve been told the parts are back ordered.

The German guy's theory is very interesting. Recommended reading, and even if the English isn't perfect - you will understand it. The theory, which may or may not prove accurate, is nevertheless well explored. There is also a solution that is offered which, if the theory is correct, would solve the problem without tampering with the ICCU itself, though some simple manufacturing (3D printing?) is needed. I'm sure none of us would ever want to jeopardize warranty coverage! I'm staying tuned to this one.

Was just driving out in the rain, had a warning msg about Safety Features being disabled, and then shortly after, Pls chk Regen System... and had some slight panic (!) - wait, I didn't hear any Pop did I?! - until I realized that I had regent set to Auto1 (which depends on proximity/distance system). Whew!!

You'll know if your ICCU fails. I was at a stop light and the radio volume was not loud so I did hear the "pop" in the rear seat area, then within a couple of minutes warnings on the dash and then on the right side of the dash in RED was Check Electric Vehicle System, then I started to lose power while pressing the pedal down. Prior to my ICCU failure I had taken the car in for both of the ICCU recall software updates. In my case the software updates did not work. I watched some You Tube videos that some were saying the software update were not solving a hardware issue with the ICCU. I just picked up my car and spoke to the Service Advisor, he kept telling me how lucky I was that they had an ICCU in stock. In doing so they also had to bleed the cooling system. He said his dealership had changed a fair amount of ICCU failures in the Ioniq 5 and of those repaired, so far no new issues with the replaced ICCU unit. But then gain, he said you never know what happens in the future even with the replaced ICCU units. While I was a the dealer I noticed they had about 6 large main battery packs stacked in pallets at the service bay. I hope Hyundai/Genesis are also not having issues with the main battery pack itself. The dealer also did the windshield molding recall at the same time and checked the 3 year old 12v battery. When I got the car back, I had to reset some of my saved presets and the apple car play etc. All in all I was Very Lucky to have the ICCU go out on Friday and to get my car back 2 days later on Sunday.
