Check edmunds again as there is $1200 dealer money for 4.6 Tech. And I suppose no one paying more than invoice these days when the un-employment rates shooting to the record high. So, a normal deal will look like invoice - $1200 plus whatever you can hammering down
Don't know if there is such a thing as a "normal deal." Too many factors come into play. Seems to me it boils down to what's going on in the market when you are ready to take the plunge; how badly the dealer wants to move the cars on his lot (which he is paying interest on); any incentives from the factory that I mentioned in my original post; whether you are paying cash or financing, and if so, with who; what you are trading in if a trade will be part of the deal and, I'm sure, some other factors I missed that will result in the bottom line price. So what is a "normal deal?"
Not sure what you mean by "dealer money" for a 4.6/Tech. If that's a factory rebate or incentive to the dealer, I don't think it was in effect when I bought mine because I spent hours and hours searching Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, Consumer Reports and other sources before I bought. I do know that Hyundai was not offering any customer incentives on the Genesis when I made my purchase.
Whatever the case, I was happy to pay $500 over invoice for the car in my area because it hasn't been as negatively affected by the bum economy as other parts of the country. And it won't matter to me in the slightest if someone posts a message that he or she went to the same dealer and bought the same car at invoice or below. I fell into that trap once nearly 30 years ago and it took the shine off my then-new 1980 Buick Regal Turbo, which, by the way, turned out to be my biggest car-buying mistake of the 19 cars I have owned since my first set of new wheels back in 1960. But factory turbos were relatively new back in 1980, and I had to have the latest and greatest back then. Funny how history seems to have repeated itself here in 2009 with my purchase of a Genesis, eh?
