  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

Well folks...I am calling BS on this. So feel free to yell at me all you want if this ends up being real.

I just spent about an hour looking at lines of the new G80 and the GV80. There is no way this is the G70. Someone is really f'ing around with us.

Grill is the wrong shape. It is almost like the new G90 grill...but we know the new G80/GV80 are the way forward. The G90 even has sharp corners.

Also...all the lines connecting the lights...hood...sides, etc are nice and sharp/clean. This is all bubbly. And the headlights look like they protrude out.

I won't even get into the back of the car.

So...I'm calling it fake news :)

Ive also got some concerns, although I feel like it could be real. Like big foot and this G70 spy shot, why is the image quality so bad? Phone cameras for the last 5 years can easily produce a cleaner image than that, even on lower end models. Almost purposeful

Crap...it does :(

Well...the designer is gone...so perhaps it will completely be off.
Personally I think they let the ball down with the G70 refresh. I feel like the GV70 is the main focus compared to G70. I mean even the GV70 is getting the 2.5T and 3.5TT out the gate unlike the refresh.

The rear end looks like an old Mercedes that reminded me of an old Ford. Hopefully, this is not close to the final product.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it most likely is. That is right off the production line. I saw a similar leak photo of the kia stinger back in 2017 and it was the final product.

I want to believe it's not true, but then again, the new 4-series is apparently going to roll off the assembly line looking just as ugly as everyone feared.

Yeah, it also looks similar to the type of picture we got of the GV80 that came out before the reveal. I'm convinced that's the new one, and it's an easy decision not to upgrade. I'll either keep my G70 or trade up to a G80, hopefully they'll have a sport version. Then I'll just get a Corvette for my fast car and have the G80 for riding around with the family.

I’m obviously no rendering artist, but as a photographer I have basic enough photoshop skills to implement a rudimentary fix (left the right side alone for comparison purposes). I honestly think this would’ve looked SO much better, especially if the taillights were just a little thinner. Really reduces the visual mass of that trunk lid. Honestly, they also could’ve just kept everything about the back the same & just split the taillights and it would’ve been fine, too. Moving the license plate is what really screwed the rear up I think.

That looks vastly better!

So...I think I take back my statement already...LOL. Looking at the picture below...there are no hard lines from the hood to the bumper. All soft and f'ing bubbly around. And that side vent is brutal...looks like they are trying to do 2 vertical lines through it. Dumb.

Audi S4 time.

Yeah why did that not extend the tail lamp into the trunk lid??? Looks unfinished as is.

I don't mind the grill, but I heavily agree that the lights look insect like. How can it give such a different impression vs the G80? The rear end is all wrong with way too much empty space, and the tail lights look worse than the current G70's.

It appears that at least the rear turn signals are amber and LED as are the reverse lamps mounted way low below the license plate.

I'm going to stay positive for the good of this group. When we see the actual release photos and if it turns out to be bad, I'll erase my posts and pretend like I was first to condemn it! Otherwise, I'll say I told you it would be great!

I am looking forward to purchasing the refreshed G70 with all of it's exterior and interior updates.

Not digging it, I agree that it doesn't look as sharp as the G80. That side vent is terrible; I'll stick with my boomerang thank you.

Like any new refresh, folks either love it or hate it but most grow to at least like it once they get used to it. Will have to see the finished product in person. Hard to tweak a cohesive, original design to match other new models that were designed with a certain look from the beginning. New G80 was designed with that new look as was the GV80. G70 is a retrofit to match the new design, so, no wonder it looks kinda off.

Also, at least you can't say, "that looks like a GiuliaMercedesBMW..." lol

Unique for sure.

Don't like it either. The giant "superman" grille with the pointy bottom, the rounded front corners, the ugly rear with the giant oval exhausts. It does seem odd that the new G80 looks much better.
