  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

I admit I was kind of hoping to get the refreshed look on my ride, but I didn't want to wait. When I ordered mine in January, no one really knew what "look" I would get. Turned out we had some bumps (covid related) and I ended up with an already built G in a different color. Even with those new headlights, I'm glad I got my 2020. Maybe the refresh will grow on others, but I'm grinning (though I've had mine for barely a couple of weeks.)

It looks like a derpy face with a big forhead, and the eyes are too far apart.

I google'd "eyes too far apart meme" and found this. I think we can all agree that Genesis used this exact face as inspiration for the new G70.

My wife said it looks more like Sid the sloth on IceAge...

I think she's about spot on.

Is any of this really a shock? Much as I generally dislike renders, even their predictions weren't far off the final product.

With Luc now gone, does anyone know if and when Genesis will stop this slipt headlight/tail light design? Unfortunately the facelift G70 is the perfect example of that.. Makes me nervous for the upcoming GV70

Changes like that don't happen quickly. If the GV70 has the split lights you can be sure they will remain.

Last time I was involved working with automotive suppliers they were usually working on model being introduced 3 or 4 years in the future. If you want to see the future, look at the past. Body styles are good for about 5 years. I'd expect split lights to 2026.

I'd expect the GV70 to be a more fully realized product than this, which appears to be a hasty refresh.

He was talking about Genesis's styling direction since the new GV80/G80 and refreshed G90. Some people in the thread don't seem to like it even on those models. The twin-slit lights and superman grille are here to stay whether people like it or not, and will definitely be on the GV70. There's no going back.

Interesting to hear the jalopnik take. Also wtf is that forum he sourced

I’m still loving the current model looks and stance and truly think it looks better than the refreshed model. The new model‘s updated interior would the selling point for me.

What i like about this render and the same thing I like about the G80 is that the angle of the headlights, particularly the top layer, match the angle of the grill design. It also gives it a focused and mean look. The headlights on the spied car simply have no flowing angles or inspiration and it's rather unfortunate.

I also take issue with the lower bumper on the spied car. Why are the "fangs" so spread apart? The lower bumper's width takes away from the commanding look of the grill itself. In this render size and priority are given to the grill as it is supposed to be the main event on the front of the car.

And I hate to give more criticism but why is the front of the refreshed G70 so rounded off? Where are the hard lines? Where is the cohesion and direction? Nothing looks like like it is meant to be in the position it's in. And I haven't even gotten to the back of the car which I'll just skip altogether.

.
Look great..!!!!! ...... I like it alot !!!!!!

Here is a render that carscoops posted. They did a good job with it, and I think it does look better than the spyshot...but, well, I don't know. It could have looked so much meaner according to other renders...

Possible this is an early prototype? Or one of several versions?

The camo spy pics made me think they put a g70 front end on a stinger. Stinger wheels, stinger ish side vent, looked longer, etc. The other pics posted obviously dont but just thinking out loud.
