  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

I cant buy that the 2.0t sounds better than the 3.3...but I havent heard it so I wont assume.

I do know damn well my 3.3 sounds way better than my 2.0t sonata and I have to imagine they are the same motor? More to it than that but still. To me that statement sounds like someone saying a v6 sounds better than a v8 lol

I mean 90* V6s naturally sound like shit.. Only ones I can think of that sound decent/good is the Giulia QV V6 and some older Alfa V6s. At least there are turbos to improve the sound a bit. Ok rant over, back to the 2.0t vs 3.3tt. The 2.0t has a sport exhaust and the 3.3tt does not (as far as I know), probably why the 2.0t sounds better.

Hmmm interesting. I'd expect the 3.3 to have the sport exhaust (at least on the sport trim) of the 2.0 does. I have no clue though. Wish that magnaflow would have come through. I put a magnaflow catback on my 2010 genesis coupe 3.8 and it sounded great to me.

Huh? 2.0L sounds better than the 3.3tt... what makes you think the 2.5L is gonna sound worse than the 3.5tt?

I mean, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but to me, the 3.3 sounds much deeper and richer and more refined. I had a 2.0 sport loaner and the exhaust just kinda sounded like nothing.

Saw a few more spy shots of the new G70 over at the Korean Car Blog....

No real knew info, though.

Also, this probably won't apply to most here. But, I for one want to keep my options open for comparable cars for when the new G70 comes out. One of the cars I'd consider is the Audi RS3. According to Motor Authority, the 2022 refresh will continue with the 5 cylinder engine, but it will have more than 400hp, along with a rear biased AWD system. Huh. Cool.

Definitely something I'll be keeping tabs on, in addition to the new G70.

I really love Audi’s 5 cylinder engines, it a legendary power plant of the brand. I to am also keeping my options open. I have my eyes on the TLX Type S, I’m a fan of multiple brands and I am happy what Acura is doing with performance.

With Acura now dropping an Exclusive 3.0T V6 and it having that coupe sedan look like the G80 I am happy with how it’s going to look. I’d love to hear what everyone else’s other options are.

In my opinion, both of those options rule themselves out being FWD-based AWD systems. I've driven Audi's system before in an S3 and, every time I do, there are always times that it reminds you that it's mostly powering the front wheels in normal situations. Power out of a turn from a stop, the front wheels spin and then it hooks. Maybe it wouldn't matter to most, but it just kills it for me.

I hear you on that. The first car I had was 16’ Elantra GT and of course FWD but was it fun taking corners in that. Knowing that I can go around the corner and power through it without losing grip was an enjoyable thing to have. Even right now my current car is FWD based with AWD and when you take corners and loose just a slight grip those rear tires spin and give you optimal grip for you to power through it. I love RWD as well don’t get me wrong but there are certain limitations you can do with it if you understand what I mean.

Agree completely! The new Type S is something I'm also eagerly waiting on. And I assume it will be somewhat similar to the RS3, in the sense that it will have a FWD oriented AWD drivetrain (albeit with plenty of torque vectoring and rear power split).

Understandable! There is something unique and nice about having a true RWD platform, along with the option to make it AWD. I really appreciate the G70 in that sense. Something to note - the new 2022 RS3 is rumored to have a new AWD system that is RWD biased. So it may very well end up acting a little more like our cars. This fact alone makes me very interested! We will see what actually happens, though.

The new 4 Series is also coming out soon. It'll likely have the long vertical nostrils though haha. Maybe the Hyundai midship will come out in a few years. There's the Supra too.

They're going to have 19 different colors?!

Or am I misinterpreting it?

They offer 9 now. That seems like a pretty big jump in choices.

Yeah true but then again I see like half of those coming to NA and then the other half coming later. Still better then what we have now.

Yeah, I doubt we'll get that many colors. Even now the KDM has a larger pallette to choose from compared to the USM.

No Siberian Ice? Shame if not. It is very unique and is one of main reasons my car stands out in a crowd. Compliments and curiosity galore from folks.

I kinds like that orangy color but not sure I'd want that on a sport sedan.
