  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Spyshots of 2021 G70 facelift

Ick...prefer the boomerang side vent.
I was just thinking that the vent is making me pause a bit...all other spy shots it looked fine but damn that thing looks kinda weird in these shots...

Why does the vent look so small. The other ones looked bigger then this model.

I would imagine the boomerang didn't fit with the new design theme. These vents are subtle but they may look good once fully revealed... we'll see!

I'm starting to not like the front grill's diamond shape - specifically how it goes down to a sharp point at the bottom middle. :/

So based on the rumours about the engines staying the same and how some might not like the design so far, how many of the current owners on this Thread are going to get the facelift model?

Definitely not. I'll wait for the TLX Type S and then the new G70. My lease isn't up for 3 more years anyways.

Looks like it sits much lower, which imo it should have been lower from factory. Bought ny 2020 to keep it so I’m not worried haha.

Yeah, definitely not liking the refresh anymore, both in terms of looks and the likelihood of using the same power train.

While there is a possibility I will keep my current G70, I am really looking forward to the release of the TLX Type S, and the RS3 refresh, as those seem more exciting in terms of performance, to me.

Agreed that the current G70 is still a solid deal.

My only issue with the RS3 and the TLX is the front drive based AWD.... Maybe they will be good though!

Edit: I do think the current RS3 interior is super cheap looking for the price of that car.. but I bet the new one will be much better.

Isn’t the new RS3 moving away from the AWD system? Thought they changed something about the new Quattro.

Edit: I’m just dumb and my memory is crap. The FWD Quattro-ultra was the newest Quattro tech from a few years back lol.

Don't know if you guys saw this, but, evidently the 2021 Stinger is not going to have the new 3.5 engine in Korea, something about a possible delay? Anyway, they mention the same treatment with the refreshed G70.

Take a look...
Kia Stinger Facelift Passed Emission Certification for Korea...with the 3.3 - Korean Car Blog

It's possible that the new engine lineup will just be an additional year out, which would make it be the 2022 model (which is what we were all expecting here anyway). But, I suppose there is a possibility that the Stinger or the G70 simply won't ever get the new smartstream lineup... I really hope that's not the case!

Take what KCB states about likely engines w/ a huge grain of salt.

KCB stated (over and over again), that H/K were no longer going to use the 2.0 4-banger in the Sonata and Optima, but they are using an updated version of the 2.0 in Korea and other markets w/ high fuel costs and/or displacement taxes (KCB also repeatedly kept claiming that the G70 would get the 8 spd DCT which was ridiculous).

While there could be a delay in the G70 and Stinger getting the 2.5T, just b/c there are G70 and Stinger prototypes seen being tested w/ the 2.0T doesn't mean that certain markets won't get the 2.5T (and certainly, not eventually).

Welp.

Wow. Too round in the front...no? Need more "rigid" lines...or rather sharper I guess.
I agree. Well. May the 19-20s forever be sexy.

I'm still taking it in, but at first glance it looks too busy and a lot less elegant to me. I can't see myself buying the facelift, at this point.
