  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

What are everyone's thoughts on the front bumper? In the early spyshots, we saw it as one huge continuous grill with a small break at the bottom center. This design may not have been finalized as it was on the car with rear halogen headlights

I hope they have "fins" on the bottom left and right of the front fender to break up the continuous grill treatment. That along with the led lights should make it look less gaudy.

I'm definitely curious to see the final grill design, it's hard to tell so far.

Almost all manufactures have a set speed for the Blind Spot to activate. The majority of the industry has it at 20 MPH because it needs a set MPH in order to activate.
As far as I remember Mercedes, Ford and Lexus operate at 0-5 mph and probably Cadillac and Volvo too but I am not 100% sure.

Hopefully its a bit more understated than the new G90. The front bumper of the G90 includes the bottom half of the semi-bezelless grill, flanked by a slim lower bumper with 2 LEDs. It may work for such a larger saloon like the G90 but not so much for the G80 in my mind.

There should be deaf spot activation because I can't really see when driving.... I rely on my hearing.....
How about a system where in the steering wheel there is a vibration on the left or right side when there is a vehicle in your blind spot.

True actually my mom’s 19’ X5 has it at 5 MPH.

From that link, I'm not even sure if he means release for countries outside of Korea, but it doesn't seem like it. Oof, it seems like Genesis' timelines keep being pushed back. I'm not sure how that happens with so few vehicles in Genesis' pipeline when, on the other hand, Hyundai/Kia push out a crazy amount of refreshes/redesigns. At this rate, the world economies will slow down and Genesis will miss capitalizing on the crossover boom.

Personally, I'm waiting for the G70 coupe, but if it's after the GV70, which is mid-2021, that would be a LOOONG time to wait... not to mention with the delay between Korea and US release...

^^ Since the quote is from Raphael, likely means US launch - which falls in line w/ what has been stated.

Late 2019 Korean debut w/ launch for export markets to follow a little later (the usual 5-6 month delay from the KDM launch will be shortened) - so early 2020 launch.

Interesting comment by Charlie Min (Asian Petrolhead) in his recent review of the KDM Sonata.

Stated that was told (Korean?) launch of the GV80 later this year and that the G80 will launch next year.

Doesn't seem right to me as the G80 seems more production ready than the GV80.

Btw (even w/ not much power, the KDM Sonata does not yet have the 1.6T; doubt they will get the 2.5T), Charlie found the new Sonata more fun to drive than the predecessor (note - the KDM suspension tune is softer) largely due to reduced weight.

Bodes well for the new G80 which should be getting a similar weight reduction.

I'm getting off-topic, but people are guessing the 2.5T will be used in the Sonata N.

^ Yeah, it'll be used for the Sonata N-line (rather than a full-blown N), but doubt the Korean market will get it (but I guess it's possible since they got the Veloster N).

Btw, that Motor1 article and pretty much all others talking about the G80 and GV80 keep referring to the old engine lineup (so much for journalism).

I would be nice to see the new G80 drop a couple hundred lbs with the improvements made to construction and materials. That along with the more efficient 2.5 and 3.5 engines should results in good fuel economy figures.

In Canada, I have been watching for the 2020 G90 to hit the market. Still nothing yet. I thought it would have been out by now (compared to Korean market launch) but all we get is the teaser page on the website.

I read the articles as well but remember this was all stated via there quarter earnings call. They as well as us are hearing engine lineups that would appear. I still have a feeling that it would be only 2.5t and 3.5TT. If you look at the G70 it only contains two engines as well as the G90 for right now i.e. 3.3T and 5.0. I highly doubt that the 3.8 will live on. Naturally aspirated engines aren’t as good as forced induction engines. The 3.8 engine has only really been upgraded a little over the years. I believe the first model to get that Engine was the Hyundai Genesis 1st gen correct me if I am wrong.

They are late to the game. Have a look at their sale volume for the G80/90, significant decline compared to last year.
I myself need to lease 2 cars early 2020 and it seems they won't be genesis, which I am very upset about it.
