  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone know of a replacement for the H on the steering wheel on an R-Spec???

The "H" is the same on all Genesis', so you can use the stick on emblem, or replace the airbag, either will work just fine.

I've done the wing badges elsewhere on my car and I too am looking at the steering wheel. I'm not crazy that the Ebay badges simply stick on over the H. I am curious if anyone has tried removing the H before installing the wing badge?

I have found a couple airbags with the wing emblem and it is contoured in the wing shape. Unfortunately I don't feel like the expense of a new airbag.

Thanks all. The plastic oval piece doesn't do it for me and I have no intention of switching out a 2012 bag.

Again, thanks.

This subject has been discussed in depth in other threads. Yes, it has been tried and seriously regretted. Even if you were able to successfully remove the old H (not as easy as you think) it will not make the oval badge lay any flatter.

I paid $160.00 for my air bag with wings & then sold my H air bag for $120.00 total cost $40.00 ... well worth it !

ebay out of MD. fast shipping & my dealer did install for free.

I did the same thing a few years back. Sold the OEM airbag on Ebay for $150 I believe.

I did the same and replaced the new air bag myself. The step-by-step procedures in the thread here are better directions than what came with the bag or the tech instructions. Just rememper to disconnect the battery and it's pretty straigh forward and simple. I recall getting hung up on getting one of the terminal connectors off, but once I figured out it was a locking connector (and that took 10 minutes because I was being super-careful) it went quick. I would say it should take you 20-25 minutes tops even if you take your time. Their is just no comparison between the KDM airbags and the stick-on emblem, of course they cost a lot more and it SHOULD look nicer. The stick-on emblems aren't bad at all, but the airbag is really the spot-on factory look like the exterior wing badges.

Go for it!

I used a inexpensive steering wheel badge, placed directly over the H, and it looks great. Off of Ebay, less than $20. Winged badge fits perfectly over H, does not stick out or come off at all. One downside is I had to replace winged badge with a second one as first badge 'collapsed' in middle (bent inwards in center) on its own. I think this is due to the vacuum created when it was stuck on, don't know for sure. Same thing occured with replacement badge, so not sure how to easily fix this problem. The indentation is not that noticable. Why would you bother with a full air bag replacement?! How important is to be wasting time, energy and money on such nonsense?!

From what I've read removing the H before installing the stick on looks the same since the stick on is made to cover the H.

Did the same stick-on as you and thought it belonged on a rusty 20 year old car that a teenager owns. Looks bad. Sold my OEM airbag, so my new airbag was under $100 essentially.

That looks REALLY nice!

Does any one know if the H logos on Sedans and Coupes are the same size. There are quite many wing logos on ebay for coupes. I wonder if those fit on sedans as well.

Yes

After having installed it myself, I am not sure that I would recommend the steering wheel sticker. You have to "pad" the underneath of it with more 3M tape so that you don't dent it while installing... and it is VERY scratch-prone. Someone needs to get on the phone with SFR and see if we can get a significant group discount on the proper airbag replacements... bring it under $200 shipped, and I'm in.

I bought the sticker too... But I didn't like the way it didn't sit flush at all. Not a well made or designed item IMO. I am not going to put it on after test fitting and not liking the look. I guess I'm staying with the Flying H. I have the cashmere interior and have not seen the airbag replacement in that color. Oh well..the rebadged wheels and rear will have to do...
