  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

I am looking to have a alpine sub and amp installed in my 2019 G70. The guy that I am having do my install is having troubles finding the wire harness and splice kit to do it. It sounds like he was finding it for models leading up to 2016 but nothing after that. I wasn't sure if anyone was aware of any places I can give him that would have the stuff needed to get this installed. Also curious if the older stuff would work on the G70 wiring. I have heard from some people there might also be some sort of firewall preventing you from tapping into the wiring. Any information would be great thank you!

Given that the G70 is the same platform as the stinger, factory amp might be in the teunk passenger side...see pic20180728_221248.webp

The factory amp is indeed in the rear, although I believe it is on the the drivers side in the G70? Double check.

You'll need to directly tap the wires without use of a particular kit. Instead, youll need to use a line converter, such as an LC2.

Here is one of the threads from the Stinger guys detailing the process a bit. Stinger Subwoofer Install

I can verify it in the left rear behind the trim panel. I saw it when I did the power trunk install

Do all G70 trim levels come with the sub in the trunk? I have popped the lining up in the trunk to see if I have one but I don’t believe I do.

Sorry I meant I haven’t popped the lining yet

The installed sub woofers, assuming you have the 15 speaker lexicon system, are under the actual front seats. Sadly, Genesis did not place these in the rear of the car, which would have improved acoustics.

If you are interested in following the stinger guide, there are some differences in the wiring harness. I tried following the diagram that was posted and it is not the *exact* same as the 2019 G70.

Unfortunately I had to find this out the hard way. Does anyone happen to know where I would be able to find the exact wiring diagram? I have literally scoured the internet to find nothing aside from the one posted in the stinger guide.

All G70 subs are the 8" subs under the driver & passenger seats. The trunk just has the battery and the oem amp in the driver's side trunk panel/fender area.

I did a sub & amp install in my G70 and noted the wires used if you want. Its in a post in the Facebook G70 Owners group somewhere but I can find it if you're having trouble.

We tapped into the 2 oem sub pairs for signal as we confirmed that they were high voltage (no powered line converter required in that case) and didn't seem to have frequency range cut off or anything that would ruin the signal going to my new sub amp.

Man that Stinger trunk definitely looks bigger.

Yes please. I too have been looking for the g70 factory amp pinout and haven't had any luck. Can you help?

Could you please post the wiring pic you mentioned?

Here it is. Sorry I didn't see this message for a while.
How difficult is it to just install the AMP is it worth going to a Shop?. I'm not looking for more Base, I just want better sound quality, also what AMP did you use? I'm looking to stay at reasonable price... also I don't think I'll need an expensive one since I'm not getting a SUB.

Quick question as I've never encountered this issue with past installs. When using the blue/red and brown/white wires on the red factory connector, there isn't enough signal power to allow for the amp to function. I tried high level input and connecting directly to RCA's with no change. Currently my sub is running off of the Lexicon amp, and while it doesn't sound horrible, I would like to use my installed amp. So, finally to my question, why do you think this is happening? The amp was just pulled from my Ram 1500 that I traded in and was working just fine.

What AMP and SUB did you use?
Sub: Audiomobile EVO2410

Amp: Powerbass XMA-800D

What is the make & model of the amp? It may require higher voltage inputs depending on its specs. I just know that when we tested with a meter, we were hitting very solid voltages off of the OEM sub wires as well as verified that the frequency range wasn't being affected by the OEM amp; our conclusion was a very clean signal from the OEM sub wires.

If you use a meter to test your wires and are getting low voltage even when the volume is turned up, you may have the wrong wires or a bad audio source (USB drive or good DAC device using 3.5mm Aux with WAV files are ideal for proper signal testing, don't use Bluetooth or radio).
You could also disconnect the two OEM subs so that your amp is getting the full potential on those wires instead of the OEM subs still sharing it (I didn't disconnect mine, probably should have, but oh well).

You could also just use a powered PAC module to raise the voltage of that OEM signal so your amp is happy.

Or, your issue may be that the amp doesn't support line sense auto-on via the inputs and requires the traditional power-on wire to be hooked upto the car's accessory power (so that the amp only turns on if the car is running or in acc mode, not when parked/locked/off as it would drain your battery).

I'm no pro, but have years of experience working with low voltage wiring and audio gear, as well as being a network & server admin during the day, plus had a pro installer friend helping me (custom sub box he built etc). It still took us several hours to do properly and cleanly though.
I'd say just find a GOOD shop, not just like BestBuy or the cheapest place you can find, and get them to do it. Give them the info I've provided to shorten their chase. (where to tap into OEM harness for signal etc).

Edit: I just reread your question; if you're looking to amplify the speakers with an aftermarket amp instead of just the OEM Lexicon, that'll be much more work than just adding a sub and monoblock amp to the trunk. I'd def recommend a proper professional shop in that case.
You may wish to replace the speakers at that point too, I don't find the OEM speakers to be super great. They also blow very easily, my drivers door woofer has blown 3 times now in 2 years without abuse.
