  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Subwoofer under front seats?

I thought the system didn't sound bad.. it would shake the mirror at higher volumes and sound a hell of a lot better than the Raptor or Focus RS. So for shits and giggles at lunch today, I reset the system to see if it made any difference.. HECK YES.. Now at around 15 the rearview mirror starts jumping and outside around the 20s with default settings.

I don't know if something is sticking with sound processing or something else..

Hmmm... Maybe I should try this. Did you reset the whole system under settings, or just for the sound?

I tried both methods (reset to default under system information, and using a pen to press the small button next to volume know for 3 seconds)..

Reset to default- resets all the radio setting back to factory (except cars modem, sirus, and Genesis connected services which stays activated).. I personally believe this unsticks whatever causes the subs to drop out.

Pressing the reset button next to volume knob - looks like it only reboots the system and does not change any settings.

I messed with the onstage and audience to try to duplicate the subwoofer drop out and reset. So far it seems to have resolved the issue..

After messing with settings and resetting several times. It is something with the "Quantum Logic Surround" that causes the under the seat subwoofers to cut out and not return.

Testing method..
Using the same song (loaded on USB stick) and the volume set to 20 on each run..

Both Audience and On stage Mode cause the subwoofers to cut out, Clari-Fi and Speed Dependent Volume Control do not cut out.

Re-enabling subwoofers:
1) System Info/Default and reset the system to factory settings restores subwoofers.

2) Using the reset button next to power button/volume does not resolve issue.

3) Power cycling the vehicle does not resolve issue.

4) Resetting in driver information center does not resolve issue.

Hope this helps..

After reading through here I reset my system this morning on my drive to work. Definitely kicks a little harder, but I don't see it as drastically as others have said. Could be because I listen at 10-12 tops

15 and up is where I start to notice a dramatic difference in the bass..

Very good job on the trouble shooting here. I wonder how many G70 owners out there are not experiencing the full sound system... The difference is astounding and the system sounds so good when it's working properly.

I did the reset for the sound settings just for shits and giggles. I had plenty of bass before but wanted to try this out. It made 0 change for me, so I’m happy I haven’t been missing out.

Word to the wise, you will lose all your volume settings. Take a pic before you reset like I did, totally forgot how many different settings there were for volume and phone projection volume

I am wondering if there is a difference in software versions or something else.. I don't know if I really want to go down any further into this rabbit hole, yet..

I tried the reset in my car and the sound didn't chance at all but as @joschneider said you will loose all volume settings. I use Quantum Logic all the time and never had a problem with subwoofers. Software, firmware and Nav versions change everytime you do a Map update. I updated to Map V13 a couple of months ago.

I'm still preversion 13.. I am downloading the update now. Maybe it is something the corrected in the v13 update.
Im on 12.5 BTW, so I dont think its purely the update version

Hi All,
I believe I'm afflicted by the same issue. Sliding the seat back and looking at the woofer grill I don't see any movement visually and feeling around the frame of the grill I don't feel any vibration at all. I can feel around on the floor around the grill and still nothing. I feel like given how the subs are the biggest woofers in the system they should be putting out more tactile output then the doors. The door woofers put out a significant amount of air that I can feel on my pant leg. This is at volumes up to 30. The car in general does put out nice bass but I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

So for those who resolved the issue by resetting to default -
1. Do you see any sub movement under the grill or feel any vibration around the grill?
2. Do you feel it hit through the seat?
3. Any idea where the amp controls are at if there are any?

I have tried resetting the system to default both in the sound settings menu as well as the system settings menu and don't hear or feel a difference.
Thanks!

Have you tried the reset while playing something with a lot of bass? The two times I've had to do this I've done it during a song playing, and then the difference is obvious. I've also done it a few times during some crappy Sirius radio songs where i'm expecting more bass but the feed itself is to blame and I've noticed no change.

I have not done it mid song. I am mainly fixated on the sound and tactile feeling coming from the area around the sub grill. For those that have it working I want to know if they hear obvious sound coming from the floor/feel vibrations from that region. If those who say its working don't hear/feel sound when putting head/hand by the grill then I'll just chalk it up to a very sturdy frame in that area that doesn't vibrate. I just feel like I should hear something from the floor when I put my head on the floor by the grill...

You should feel air movement at the very least. Try downloading an app for your phone that lets you see what the gyroscopes are doing (like a seismometer app). Open the app and place the phone on your armrest and play a bass heavy song or a pure tone. Then move the phone to the floor next to the sub. You should see a lot more high amplitude, low frequency response on the floor placement than on the armrest if your sub is working correctly.

When I reset my system, the difference in measurement on the floor was significant. It also sounded much better.

Yeah there is no way there is any sound coming from the floor. There is CERTAINLY no air coming from the sub grill, nothing. I've done the reset and lost all my sirius/radio bookmarks, custom menu etc, and the sound did not change. So I'd rather be sure of what I am doing so I don't have to reconfigure everything.

I don't use any of the stage settings, prefer standard stereo stage.

I've tried both a reset from the audio menu and from the system menu. I guess I feel optimistic that the system can sound better, now what to do. And why is it so finicky?

take a trip to the dealer and sit in another car. Could be something isnt hooked up right, but thats why we have warranties

So you have none of the "fancy" speaker settings turned on and prefer it that way? Interesting...sounds too tinny to me that way

Has anyone asked the dealer to diagnose and repair this speaker issue? What was the answer and result. I will wait until the SD update before I make a call and keep testing here at home but if there is an actual repair available it would be nice to know.

Mine sounds pretty good. Can't tell if subs are working or not. If they aren't, can't imagine how much better it'll sound. I'll mess around with it this weekend to see.
