I know gas mileage and road experiences have been discussed in many threads and I've read most of them. I wanted to discuss my experiences from the last few days.
I have a 2009 V6 with the prem plus package. 18" rims with dunlop 5000m tires. ~28k on the odo. 5w-20 mobil syn oil.
I drove from Philly to Pittsburgh averaging about 75-80 mph on the turnpike and averaged about 27 mpg. I was happy with this since this car is rated at 18 city /27 highway.
From Pitt to State College, PA on two lane 'highways' for 2.5 hours ranging in speed and lots of steep hills (if anyone has driven rt 22 and rt 99 you know what I mean). Gas mileage dropped slightly to about 25-26. However, I also tested the power in the car twice by going uphill and hard accelerating. During both times, they were long straight-aways and no one was in front of me. The first time I accelerated to 105 and no issues. The second time I upped it to 120. The car was smooth and always felt so planted. No signs of backend swerving. I was very surprised to get up to those speeds so quickly while going uphill! Again, it was only me on the road during these times and I admit it was prob not the best decision.
After leaving state college I headed to NYC on rt 80 cruising at about 70 mph. My gas mileage increased to over 32 mpg and stated I would get 600 miles on a tank!
What an amazing car! These last few days have solidified my decision to purchase this wonderful car! Smooth, quiet, powerful and comfy too.
Thanks for reading!
