  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know gas mileage and road experiences have been discussed in many threads and I've read most of them. I wanted to discuss my experiences from the last few days.

I have a 2009 V6 with the prem plus package. 18" rims with dunlop 5000m tires. ~28k on the odo. 5w-20 mobil syn oil.

I drove from Philly to Pittsburgh averaging about 75-80 mph on the turnpike and averaged about 27 mpg. I was happy with this since this car is rated at 18 city /27 highway.

From Pitt to State College, PA on two lane 'highways' for 2.5 hours ranging in speed and lots of steep hills (if anyone has driven rt 22 and rt 99 you know what I mean). Gas mileage dropped slightly to about 25-26. However, I also tested the power in the car twice by going uphill and hard accelerating. During both times, they were long straight-aways and no one was in front of me. The first time I accelerated to 105 and no issues. The second time I upped it to 120. The car was smooth and always felt so planted. No signs of backend swerving. I was very surprised to get up to those speeds so quickly while going uphill! Again, it was only me on the road during these times and I admit it was prob not the best decision.

After leaving state college I headed to NYC on rt 80 cruising at about 70 mph. My gas mileage increased to over 32 mpg and stated I would get 600 miles on a tank!

What an amazing car! These last few days have solidified my decision to purchase this wonderful car! Smooth, quiet, powerful and comfy too.

Thanks for reading!

You're lucky! I'm averaging 14.5-16 mpg per tank in my car according to the computer. I'm not even heavy footed!

My first tank I got 18 mpg and this one I am getting 22.6 ...

i recently measured trips to/from airport. ~85 miles freeway 1 way, all 70+. car said 28.5 one way and 27.2 other way (into the wind). measured two to/from trips, one tank of 87 octane, one tank of 93. almost identical results.

iphone gas app said 25.3 in both instances. so car is irrationally exuberant. but 25+ mpg out of a V8 ain't hay.

(2011 4.6 22k miles)

I avg 15.8 mpg... but thats because i drive 2 miles to and from work.

On the highway i achieve the 25 mpg estimated.

Ppp

Many people have posted that the in-dash MPG calculator is about 1 MPG too high compared to actual over a tank of gas. It can be even higher for partial tanks.

I'm only at 2 tanks on mine now, but I averaged exactly 23.1 mpg on both tanks. I dont really drive crazy though

Don't get me wrong, I have never received gas mileage numbers like these. Typically, with my drive of about 7 miles to and from work with stop and go traffic and average about 16 mpg. On the highway though the mileage has varied from 24-27 typically (driving about 75-80 mph with my family). The recent rode trip was by myself.
Going forward, I will 'slow down' to 70 on trips when with the family to see if over 30 mpg can be obtained.
