  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1) The styling inside & out
2) The interior illumination
3) The smoothness of the engine
4) The highway fuel economy (damn good for a large car)
5) The overall feeling of solidity
6) The audio system (14 speaker Lexicon)
7) The quietness of the cabin at speed
8) The roominess of the back seat
9) The effortless steering (V6)
10) The value (e.g. price and warranty coverage)

...honestly, I know some of you have issues with your Genesis, but 14 months into ownership of my Gen and I still love it. It is quite simply the best car I've ever owned, and that includes a 2006 GS430, 1999 3.2 TL & 1997 528i.

So what about all of you? Speak up! :)

I agree with all of them too. Love my Genesis!!

I'm not a big fan of the exterior styling. And that has nothing to do with the claims that the front end is borrowed from here and the rear end from there. It's more the "turtle" shape that all of these cars from all of these manufacturers seem to have. I know I could have gone elsewhere, but I'm not a "how does my car look" kind of guy. I purchased this car for the interior comfort, the bells and whistles, and perceived value.

I'd prefer the driver's and passenger's map lights to be brighter.

Smooth engine, yup, mpg on the highway, a big YUP. I've been breaking 28mpg on the highway with the V8, which was a big surprise to me with regular gas. About 210 miles round trip when I drive to work.

Solid feel, I'll agree. Sound system? I have the 17 speaker system and I think it's good, but not great. Could be me though. I spent 8 years as a fighter pilot in the air force and that little whiny high-pitched hydraulic pump that sat behind my left shoulder in the cockpit sort of trashed my high end hearing.

Quietness of the cabin, it's fabulously quiet. Tremendously quiet, I love it. An A+ to Hyundai for that. And that has nothing to do with that hydraulic pump! They did a nice job with minimizing cabin noise.

Your last three on the list, I also agree.

It's a nice car, we've all done well!

Don't agree, then create your own list. :) Regarding some of your other complaints, maybe you should post them in the pet peeves thread.

I would love it if we could have 1 thread here that doesn't turn negative. Is that too much to ask for?

The Air Force did in my high frequency hearing, also. I was an F-86D instructor and had to do three supervised starts and runups with each student. The AF, in all its wisdom, provided ear protection for ground crews, but not instructors. Afterburners are hard on ears.

That said, the genesis is the quietest car I have ever owned. It is far quieter than my Azera, especially in terms of tire and wind noise.

More than that, I love the feeling of quality; the leather dash and door trim are luxury without bling.

I am really happy w/ my car, agreeing (for me at least) it's the best car I've ever had in 30 years of driving. My wife got a CLK 350 convertible a week before I got mine, and I would take mine 10 times out of 10 over hers. The Genny is a more comfortable ride, has way more features, but doesn't have the "badge" my wife so dearly covets.-lol

My biggest decision will be when my lease is up whether to buy mine or re-lease a newer one (2011?). I have about 18 months left on a 27 month lease

OK, jwaters, one of the things I love about my gennie is the brakes. They are smooth, strong, quickly responsive (at least on the V8). I'd add this as number 11 unless I have to stay with the original 10. Then I'd drop number 8, only because I don't intend to sit back there very often.

But I like your list; you just have to add in the brakes...... ;)

Dave,

It must be a V8 thing. ;) The brakes on my V6 okay, but I have noticed recently while doing some aggressive driving that they do tend to fade fairly easily and the pedal gets a bit mushy.

When it's time for a brake job I think I will upgrade to the beefier 4-piston brakes from the 4.6 model. :)

The brakes on the V8 are ridiculously good. I mean they have to be to control a 375hp monster.

I agree completely. The V8 brakes make me feel like my face is being ripped off my head, which in the kind of car this is.....should:D

You fighter jocks should surely be commendend, but back here on the (real world) interstate system - I recently avoided a huge pile-up, thanks, I believe to the 4.6 braking system. Put the car down and into the median, without damage (just lucky, you know the crap on the roadside). The highway patrol said that it was lucky I was driving a Mercedes with nice handling - not. Dudes, this 4.6 is one mean driving, lifesaving machine. Perhaps I exagerate, but it is is fun arriving home in the evenings. What sayeth you?

I misunderstood and took your invitation to comment as one to comment about your list. My bad. I wasn't trying to "go negative" and take the thread down. My apologies.

No biggie. :)

JWATERS, it’s a biggie with me. Its people like you that stop many people from posting comments. They don’t understand that someone who posts 865 comments in 14 months runs at the mouth. I have 2 suggestions for you. 1. Learn to read. 2. Get your own web site.

And what have you contributed to this site exactly? I have a suggestion for you, and that's if you have an issue with me, send me a PM.

It looks to me like he agreed with most of your list and simply stated his opinions in a non-confrontation way. Feathers have been ruffled for nothing.

FWIW, I didn't mean to say that Mongo's comments weren't appreciated, only that I felt they would be better directed to the Pet Peeves thread. There has been a somewhat recent trend of nearly every topic getting derailed and not staying on-topic. I've actually been guilty of that myself and consequently have had my posts moved and/or deleted. I just wanted to keep this on-topic.

Nobody is perfect. Let's just move on. :)
