  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Hyundai Vision G Coupe Concept

It looks like this might be Hyundai's answer to the Mercedes-Benz CLS. It also could very well be branded as a Genesis and not a Hyundai...

I like this a lot. First impressions is that I don't like the rear end, but after about 10 minutes, I really started to like it. It's a rear like no other car, so no one can say it was taken from someone else.

I saw the initial post last night, and now see that it's become 3 pages (nice to see some action in here! :-)). I stopped at this ^ post, because....call me "not up" on car models of the past 2 decades....and I'm guilty as charged. IOW, I honestly thought this car looked like a Chrysler model, overall. Not a dis here. No, not at all. I just honestly, thought the OP's original link was to the wrong car (swear to gawd :-)).

I can see where some might see Jaguar in the frond end/hood, and the Genesis symbol on the front and rear TRULY made me think I was looking at a Chrysler model car. I've never seen it before (new GC owner of preleased 2013).

Having said all that, I freaking love this concept car! It's gorgeous, imo. I'm sure that price point will probably kill it for me, but if not....I'm buying one of these damn things!

It probably would and should be. Hyundai is still overcoming a negative stigma of poorly made cars (going back over 2 decades). While they've gotten their act together, they are also smart enough to "special brand", no different than Acura (Honda), Infinity (Nissan), Lexus (Toyota), etc...

People perceive value in brand names. Companies know this and capitalize on it. And of course, to preserve their status....they HAVE to deliver. In a market where prices are only second to the average American's home, you lose a customer forever if you fail them with such a large expense that results in ANY kind of regret. As I said in a post a while back, I actually used this scenario in Customer Service classes that I once taught (in 4 different industries).

And yes, it's because the U.S. "Big 3" made trash in the 80's, that people like myself bought Honda, Nissan & Toyota....and remained loyal because of their emphasis on quality control. Despite the Big 3 getting it together in the 90's, the people who walked away already had cars that would last them faithfully, and for well over a decade...or two!

If it's not broken don't fix it. Right? People didn't switch to Japanese products in the 80s because they were "just as good" as domestic products - they were better. Now I don't expect people to switch back to domestic products unless THEY are better. Why switch if a GM or Ford product is "just as good" as a foreign one? Sure, you could be patriotic but in far more cases than not - people don't care where their product is built. If it works, it works. And then there's loyalty...

People aren't going to switch back to GM or Ford in masses unless they give customers a really good reason...
