  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

With a few more DH sedan owners expressing interest in modifying their cars I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread that summarized the potential modifications and provided some visual reference for new members. Mods, I'm not sure if this should be a sticky - there might be some value in it as I realize that most Genesis owners are not going to modify their car to the point that I have, but there may be some merit in making this thread easy to access for those that simply want to do springs/wheels etc.

I will start things off and hopefully a few other guys that have modified their cars will chime in and share as well.

love those KDM headlights. I think they would go nicely with nardo grey if I decide to go that route in the future :-).

Looking good as always Sean.

Thanks Scott!! Yours looks tight as well! In 2016 I'm going to get some wheels and maybe some springs, though I'm hoping there will be some other options available besides the Storm springs.

that would compliment your car nicely.

I believe the ARK springs provide less drop than the Storm springs - Rloyola can attest to that I think. Any idea on what size and style wheels you are considering?

Which springs do you have again? I love the look of your car but it looks like yours may rub in some situations, and unfortunately I have a few steep driveways I enter/exit on a regular basis. I want just a *tiny* bit less drop than yours in the front. It's not the look I don't like, but my parent's driveway, as well as several commercial driveways near where I live, are fairly steep.

As for wheels, NEWGEN2015 might hate me for this, but his photoshop of the Ace Devotions convinced me. I am probably going with those in 19" form:

I'm at work and don't have access to my pictures due to the firewall at the hospital but I will chime in as soon as I get home tonight.

Love the idea of this thread!

I have the Storm springs. I think the ARK springs might be just what you are looking for. 19" wheels? go for 20"!!

Get the Storms...you don't want to have that regret that you didn't go flush and then contemplate taking a dremel to a coil to drop that remaining 1/2"-1". Steep driveways you can always hit an an angle but a gap will be there forever.

Or get the best of both worlds: bag it ;)

But if you hit it at an angle, despite the torsional rigidity, the roof flexes enough that the sunroof creaks, and that drives me bonkers.

crap I never thought of that

And if you look at the Ark Springs for the G1, it looks like the front wheel will rub there as well.

rub a dub dub

if you don't get lowered you're a scrub

sorry I couldn't resist.

Those G1 pictures are what made me so disappointed in mine. I saw that of all their springs they have pictures of, the wheels were all flush or very close to being flush to the fender. That is the look I was expecting to see when the car came off the lift. However, when I got mine lowered, I had a gaping 2 finger gap all the way around. Don't get me wrong, I do not want to be slammed or negative gap, but I do want people to know the car is lowered when they see it vs them having to ask if my car is lowered. I just want 1 more inch...

Storm springs will give you that for sure. I think its the perfect look for our cars. the fender gap is precisely what I was going for when choosing the wheel and tire combo - I couldn't be happier with the look.

I know I am down-talking the ARK springs, but keep in mind these are test springs and hopefully do not represent what they plan to bring to market. There should supposedly be another set put in before the end of the year and hopefully they will be lower and comparable to the Storms. With that said who is to say how long it will take for their final product to come to market once they decide which springs they would like to go with.

If I were them, I would offer both types to appease those looking for a moderate drop and those looking for a more aggressive drop. Take money from both markets.

I hope they do this as well like Eibach does with their pro-kit and sport springs. Unfortunately I don't think the market is large enough for two different offerings.
