  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Things that are making me angry

Nothing makes me angry-
Some things make me go "huh?"
1. Seems to take a bit longer than other cars to get the heat cranking
2. Non-retention of accessory power is dumbfounding
3. Music storage hard-drive
4. DRL's
5. Fold-down rear seats
6. Passager seat controls (I don't car- I hear it from my infrequent passengers
7. Rear foglight

Awaiting my Genny replacement- 2011 Genesis V6 twin-turbo, Brembos with above wish items.

2. Non-retention of accessory power

Say it isn't so! I was just going to be searching here on the forum and in my manuals for how to turn off the engine but listen to the rest of the song-news-podcast I was listening to.

That one is interesting. Which competitors are you thinking of that have folding rear seats? (The Germans, i.e. 5/E, typically have them as options. I don't think the Lexus GS or Infiniti M have folding rear seats. What else?)

My brother drives a '08 535...no rear fold-down seats in there, either! There's a thread elsewhere on this forum that discusses this further. It's a structural/safety thing (as noted by someone else on this thread). There are more details if you're interested and can take the time to check out this forum.

Probably the thing that irritates me the most is the nag message on the nav screen every time you start the car. I know GripperDon came up with his own solution at some point. I wish there were a professional way to get this removed though...

I have to agree with you. I have acknowledged it, why do I have to do it every time I start my car? Let me sign a paper and get rid of it or have it disappear automatically.

I'm really getting annoyed!!!!

The automatic lights keep going on and off every time I pass through a shadow!!! Yesterday, when driving into Boston (50 minute commute) the lights went on and off about 25 times. I'm not kidding you.

It was a sunny bright/cold day with no clouds in the sky. Lots of tree shadows on the way up but what gives?

The sun was conveniently creating a shadow from the front door pillar that would create a shadow directly across the sensors.... but even still, my 01 Oldsmobile worked better than this.

I'm also pretty sure that the guy driving in front of me thought I was flashing him for no apparent reason.

ASHDUMP . . . . . I have had the same issue with the extremely sensitive light sensor. That's when I just reach up and turn the lights completely off!

I just flip something over the sensor and the lights stay on. I pretend I have DRLs.

There are 2 things that are driving me crazy about my Genesis.

The delay on the wipers. Why does it do it automatically? With just a fine mist the wipers are running on high. Then when it is really raining it wont come on for a while. I wish I could just adjust it myself. I know there is adjustment, but the auto feature is horrible

The auto defrost. It always comes on. WITH NO FOGGING.

I hate these features in my Genesis.

The Auto-Defogging is a feature I hate also. After complaining about cold air when the heater is on and its 30 degrees, my dealer found that on page 4-97 of the owner's manual you can cancel this programming. After numerous attempts, yesterday I found out that you actually cannot remove this feature. So much for the manual. I have found numerous errors. An e-mail to HyundaiUSA simply get a form letter reply. I guess if you live below the Mason-Dixie line you can put up with this. If you are above it, they you will be cold both in and out of your car. I have yet to see where it operates as stated. Just another nuisance which will never be fixed.

I suspect the "auto" mode is to defrost the windshield when the the outside temp is low-------for at least some time. Safety/liability thing, you know.

Just go to the "mode" button and set for floor or one of the other possible settings.

Hmm, can't say I agree with you. It is true that the automatic wipers can be inconsistent. Sometimes they fail to come on when the windshield is covered in water. Sometimes they come out of nowhere and give a wipe or two when there isn't any water on the windshield. Most of the time though I find they work well. We were driving in eastern Ontario yesterday. The highway was wet so that every time a driver passed us, it sprayed water onto the windshield. Well, the wipers behaved perfectly. They came on exactly as needed then stopped right away once the windshield was clear. On the whole, I love the automatic wipers. They save a lot of nuisance, having to turn the wipers on and off all the time.

Our defrost has never come on. Do we even have an automatic defrost? There is no problem though. If we need the defrost, we just put it on. It isn't like the windshield wipers where you have to keep putting them on and putting them off all the time.

I love the automatic headlights! So what if they come on a little prematurely? How does this bother the driver or anyone else?

I have no problem with the auto position, I leave the ring sensitivity adjuster all the way to the bottom. the wipers will go to a fast wipe if the rain becomes heavy. Hence "rain sensing" wipers. I wouldn't mind a manual delay position also though.

I still get ticked when on a rainy day I open a wet trunk lid and a stream of water runs into the trunk on to the groceries or whatever.

Early C5 Corvette coupes had this problem, GM solved it with a small water deflector on each side. When the hatch was up, the deflectors are hardly noticeable.

Wish the Genny had them!

Same issue with my 2015 Genesis... Wash the car, open the trunk to clean inside and water drips into trunk. :(

Things that piss me off. Keep in mind I have a base 2013 model.

- I can't turn the headlights off. Some sort of light always has to be on, whether it's DRLs or headlights.
- spedometer is off by 2 MPH
- can't change headlight auto off delay time
- base radio automatically adjusts volume based on speed, I want this feature off. But I can't turn it off.
- base radio is super base, it doesn't even tell you what song is playing on the radio... it has absolutely no features.
- Steering wheel is mega ugly and is way to big, it's like a steering wheel for a SUV
- base head unit is too bright, it's a blue screen with black lettering... HERE'S A THOUGHT, black screen with blue lettering! It wouldn't be so in your face bright!
-can't switch songs via Bluetooth, you have to manually do it.
-Bluetooth/aux/any input other than radio is really quiet and can't be made louder
-cords coming out of the center console can only be ran through these little cutouts in the console, if you don't put them in these cutouts they get pinched by the console hatch and it won't close. Evey time you open the center console and one of your cords moves, you have to realign it with the little cutouts or you won't be able to close the hatch. Super annoying.
- USB plug in is for data transfer only, it will take ages to charge anything.
-no cup holders in door storage. Instead we have these weird flaps we can open a couple extra inches.
-cabin air filter is always operating so the far left and far right dash air vents always have air blowing out of them unless you close them.
-Traction control is a Nazi, it needs to back off a bit.
-Little computer in the middle of the gauges tells you some really useless info but leaves out useful info. I don't need to know my average speed, that's useless to know, I would like to know my engine oil life though, or PSI in my tires, or other things of that nature.
-average MPG reading is full of shit, it always tells me I'm getting about 5MPGs better than I really am.
Seats need to be way more bolstering.
The "puddle lights" in the mirrors automatically come on if you approach the car when it is locked. They don't come on if you approach the car and it is unlocked. Why not,? Just always come on when I approach, always...
- Blue tint strip on the top of the windshield is really small. The sun takes advantage of this fact.
-it's impossible to get under that driver or passenger seat. Drop something and it went under the seat? It's going to stay there. Want to slide a box or something under there so it's not under your feet? To bad, step on it.
-very little storage.
-Homelink buttons on the mirror to open and closer garage doors are not back lit so you can't see them at night. And their on the mirror so every time you press them (especially hunting around for the bottom at night) you change the mirror position slightly.

That's all I have for now. I could make an equally exhaustive list on small things I like but that's not as much fun :)

O yea, I'm amazed that you guys were able to write about automatic windshield wipers and climate control for 3 pages.
I figured I'd broaden our scope of grievences, they need to be aired for Festivus anyway.

Open the trunk about a third, hold long enough for water to run off the lid, than open the rest of the way.

Easier for people to bitch and complain. :p

I only tried it once. I held the lever up for maybe 5 seconds with the car off. Nothing happened. I also pulled the lever towards me and nothing happened.

I'll try to hold it longer and see what happens. Am I missing something though?
Turn car off, immediately pull lever to mist position and hold 5-7 seconds.
