Things you love about the G70

I haven't gone thru all of the comments, sorry, so someone might have already mentioned this, but I love the way the system remembers the volume setting between satellite radio and iPod. I normally have to turn the volume up for the iPod. But that's no problem 'cause when I switch back to satellite radio, the system automatically remembers what the volume was when I switched away from it. I've never seen a car do this. Really neat.

I like the Auto Hold and use it all the time when waiting on a light. Very convenient.

But probably my favorite thing about the 3.3T is its ability to go into hyper drive at the simple stab of the right foot!! Wow!

If the 3.3T is the athletic well dressed older brother, I've come to the conclusion that the 2.0T manual is the mischievous teenager in a suit. The rear end will readily oversteer if you ask it to do so, the pedals are perfectly placed for heel and toe shifts and even if the suspension is a little softer than I would like, the Brembos and the MS 4 tires give you the confidence to push this car hard around corners, with the diff basically letting you get into trouble right up to the point where an adult would get mad because you're now facing the wrong direction. Sadly, the immaturity of the teenager shows up in the crappy throttle mapping and the annoying low end turbo lag.
And for once us Canucks get the better appointed trim level (how did that happen, eh?!), since we do get heated steering wheel, the quilted seats, rain sensing wipers and sport exhaust on the 2.0L version.

I love it when a huge, lifted truck with a large baby doll wearing a mask strapped to the grill is tailgating me as I'm turning onto the highway - and when he comes roaring up to pass me I downshift and floor it right as he gets level with me, and he stays neck and neck just long enough for him to realize that I briefly glanced at him with a smirk on my face right before my car slingshots away and leaves him in the dust, leaving him to contemplate the finer things in life (in this case, maybe the fact that bigger wheels with huge mud tires only make you slower on the road).

Fell in love with my G70 all over again this past weekend. After almost a year and half of ownership I finally got to take it up to the mountains in northern Georgia. I pushed it really hard going over the mountains and the handling completely blew me away. I had a Dodge Challenger riding my butt before I got to the mountain and I figured he would pass me going over the mountain at some point. Nope. He tried twice and just could not hang with me in the curves. By the time I got to the bottom of the mountain on the other side he was way back behind me. The only car that passed me going over the mountain was a Lotus Elise! And I got a bunch of stares while I was up there. The car completely amazed me! Again! Makes driving on the flat straight roads at home seem down right boring.

Yeah, the G70 does handle pretty well considering how well it also rides. It's no light weight, but by today's standards it's not too bad for a loaded sedan. Those Challengers are heavy (around 4300 lbs)! They also have a higher CG and probably lousy weight distribution. Meant for straight lines
Sounds like you had fun! It does kind of suck to drive on regular, boring roads after a fun drive like that. I still remember a great drive home in my E46 M3 through the Vermont mountains. Whoo-hoo! Due to COVID, I haven't taken a similar trip in the G70 yet, but I look forward to it.

Had my second Valet service on 9/8. Though the car was purchased April of 2019 it only has 5600 miles on it so it hasn’t accumulated much mileage. I’d like to say at this point that I’ve become a big fan of valet service. I never thought I could be as I’m particular as who drives my car. One of reasons I’ve purchased my last four cars at my dealer is because of the service and I haven’t been disappointed yet. This last service was as good as I’ve come to expect from them. They did the usual oil and filter change and tire rotation. They took care of an annoying brake shutter and even changed the cabin filter. Lastly the car came back perfectly clean with even the tires touch up. The valet rep was a presentable chap which I had before very professional and mature who always assures me, he’ll be very careful with my car. Yes, by golly I do like this valet stuff.

I just had another oil change on Friday (lol I'm just 10.4K miles) and I too noticed they changed the filters as part of the service; it seems as though they're part of the included maintenance now.

Wish I had a dealership here in Central Florida that could provide as great an experience as you describe! I just had my 3rd oil change on Friday at the Hyundai dealership. They look at the car like they have never seen a Genesis before and I have to nearly hold their hand through the entire experience to ensure I get the correct oil and that I am not charged at the end. Valet? - Hell no would I trust them with that! If the oil changes weren't free, I'd never take my car in to any of the dealerships around here until they start recognizing Genesis as it's flagship brand

The oval LED driver and passenger vanity lights under the visors. Nobody else has this design and it is very classy instead of just the rectangle LED lamp shapes you are used to seeing.

Reading through this thread really creates a new found love for this car, wow. You realize so many things you just took for granted or brushed off that others really appreciate which in turn makes you stop and appreciate them more as well.

One thing that hasn't gotten enough attention are the headlights on the upper trims - everything about them is perfect. Physically they're just downright sexy, the dark bronze accents and the genesis lettering really illustrate the attention to detail.

They also perform incredibly well. I haven't done significant night driving but the few times I have, I've always been amazed by how well they paint the road ahead. They're perfectly angled and incredibly bright and there's no sense of fear when driving in complete darkness without street lights. The auto high beam feature is also really impressive. First time I've driven a car with it and I expected it to be a gimmick that was hit or miss. Instead it was almost telepathic...it would pickup on cars so far away that I could barely see their headlights myself. It would also turn off when approaching traffic lights or areas with street lights, presumably because it realizes it's bright enough that you don't need the high beam anymore. This may be old news for some but I was impressed.

I know auto-leveling headlights have been around for decades, but there's something about the set on the G70 that just stands out. The initial check it does after starting the car is far more pronounced than on any car I've sat in before. My dad has an older ML350 and that was one of its key safety features and we hardly ever noticed. Whereas every single passenger I've had in the G70 during the evening/night has without fail mentioned that my headlights just 'danced'. Aside from its functional purpose, it's frankly a really cool party trick.

Also the way the headlights shift when you make a turn is just so cool. Everytime I notice it I get all warm inside and think to myself that my car is looking out for me every step of the way.

I just really like the headlights on this car. The looks, the tech, and the performance. They just haven't gotten enough credit.

This is one of my pet peeves with the new quad light design. What works on the G80 and GV80 doesn't work well here for me. They now have that aggressive look that lends to the character of the car. The front end is beautiful just the way it is.

Completely agree. I'm really glad they went with the quad lights on the refresh, because now I feel satisfied with my older g70. I think it looks far better than the refresh. The interior hasn't changed much either, so I'm a happy camper.

On a side note, I think the perfect combo would have been g70 headlights with g80 taillights. Those things are gorgeous.

Haven't read all the pages of this thread (mostly the first few ones), I'm coming from driving a Jeep Wrangler for over 8 years... And just ordered the base G70 model (Advanced) it's like night and day! lol

Don't get me wrong, loved the Jeep. Had fun with it. Running around topless & doorless is pretty cool the weather let's you enjoy it. You can jump curbs, sideways and huge pot holes. You can drive in deep snow, off-roading is fun, it's almost unstoppable. But it's kind of slow and even with a manual stick, you won't win any drag race!

So around 2 years ago, I had fell in love with the G70 after sitting inside one (not driving one). Recently, had to let go the Jeep as the new company I work for won't let you have a car that is 5 years old or more. First thing that popped my mind was to buy another Jeep but the price have sky-rocketed, so, wife and I said, may be time to go try that G70 we really liked when we looked at it.

Took us 5 minutes and we were both agreeing. Only thing the missus will miss is the high seating position. Our Jeep even had a small lift, but except that, as I said above, night and day. Comfy, full of tech (we were like, do we need all of this), peppy engine, quiet, awesome handling, still awd so with good winter tires it should be fine. Can't wait to receive our new G70 (it's somewhere on a train going to my dealership at the moment).

So, I should be able to add "likes & dislikes" in the coming weeks.

I noticed the height of the "ground clearance" on my upcoming G70 when I did a test drive! And my Jeep was wearing some oversized tires too so as the wife said, you don't climb in it anymore, you simply let you go and fall on the seat.

I will probably only miss my Jeep when we receive like 2 feet of snow. Not much shoveling was required, I could simply drive over the snow bank in the driveway.
