  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thread to list aftermarket wheels proven on Genesis

Below is a link to a website I used in an effort to prevent any big problems. I subscribed to their "Pro" level by giving them $12 for a month long subscription. Their claims of fender and suspension clearances were very close. Also, the picture of the clearance between my wheels and brakes does not show the, at least, one inch between the two. As I've said, the gent that sold me the wheels stated "lipped" wheels will not work on an R-Spec due to bigger brakes than the 4.6. Another gent on this website said they do work but he can only get a couple of sheets of paper between the two. Just be careful!

Hmmm... It is definitely a matter of taste. From my side, I prefer having just a bit more sidewall. I think that these tires look awesome and fill the gap quite nice. The after market tires that I choose are also about .4 inches taller than stock and I like the effect.

I was not as aggressive on width (I went 245). However, I really like the idea of 270's for the greater contact patch. And it is nice to know that they work, at least with your fitment.

Thanks!
Newman

Newman,
I've only driven the car about 20 miles but the ride is remarkably better than with the Continental Pro-Contacts. Don't know if the Bridgestones are a better tire or the fact that the tires are wider and a little taller are absorbing the road better.

I'm seriously considering selling my stock R-Spec 19's with the Continental Pro-Contact tires, 235/45's. The wheels are immaculate and the tires have 973 miles on them. They would be shipped mounted with TPM's still inside and still balanced by Hyundai. All I've done is bring them home and put them away. The whole shipment to anybody would weigh about 250 lbs. and my zip is 28409. You can go to either UPS's or Fed Ex's web site and figure you shipping costs. The tires are 27.4 inches tall and 9.3 inches wide. Make me an offer?
Thanks

Please oh please continue to post pics :-)

Today I installed some 5/16ths spacers, 7.96mm.s. I wanted the wheels to extend just a little past the wheel wells. Below are some pictures of the spacers I used, purchased at a local Auto Zone. Also there are a couple of pictures of the rear and front brakes and suspension. I haven't driven the car yet but there are no clearance issues. My biggest concern with the TSW wheels was the curved section of the front suspension and the back of the wheels. With or without the spacers I have no problems. With the spacers I have 1.25 inches between the wheels, 35mm offset, and the larger R-Spec brakes.

How is the ride? I have a black 4.6 Genesis 2009 with about 32,000 miles burned up the Dunlaps at about 13,000 miles and now about ready to replace the Goodyear Eagle GTs on it since 13,000 miles and I am going to up grade the wheels I like yours a lot any feedback would be great! Thank you.

Ride firmness, not much of a change from the OEM's (firmer but not bone jarring), but with way more confidence in the corners. The wheels spin less from 0-to whatever, so it feels a bit quicker. It certainly adds to the fun factor of the daily drive. I drive quite a bit and have logged over 64,000 miles since I’ve owned it. I’ve done about 12,000 miles with these wheels and still lots of tread left. I’m told the Toyo’s wear quicker than the average, which doesn’t really bother me as I have winters.

I usually go full custom forged - with custom offsets and width per car... However, I can't do this with the Genesis... no sense in playing with anything if there isn't a single set of Coilovers out there.

This forum was invaluable in setting up my new wheels and tires, thanks to the many posts. Time to give back :)
