If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tilt Telescopic Steering Wheel

Well I don’t want to jinx it but everything seems to be working fine. I had vowed that no matter what, I was going to keep bringing it in as soon as it happen and it must have been scared away!
My Genesis is a 2010 with the 4.6 w/o Tech.
Hope this helps!

Well everything had been working fine until this week while on a trip I tried to adjust the wheel! It was frozen and would not move in any direction! I hoped after shutting it off at a rest stop, it would reset but it did not. Just tried it yesterday and its now working. Going in for an oil change today and I'll tell the dealer again. I'm traveling a lot this summer so come fall it will be in until its fixed!

Add me to this list. I had the switch replaced in the steering column as the movement was very jerky. Now it's smooth, but the memory settings don't work with the steering wheel. Very annoying.

I spoke with one of the mechanics at the dealership and he told me if you had the tilt/telescope steering wheel TSB done on you Genesis sedan (2012 or 2013 TSB), the TSB software significanly reduced the range of the tilt and telescope capability. It is believed that the longer ranges were causing the TSB issues.

So if you don't have problems with your tilt/telescope don't get the TSB done. It will reduce the range of your tilt and telescope.

I have a '10 w/Tech package and had to get the steering column replaced. They changed out parts and replaced fuses prior to having to replace the steering column. Now all is well! :D

Shagnat - I've had a problem with the steering column not extending as far as it should. Your post may be the reason for this. I know the 2013 Sedan new models I test drove had more telescoping travel than the one i bought new. This has been a big headache since I need the steering column to extend so i can drive without reaching out to get the steering wheel. Column only extends out 1 inch maximum. UMMMM. Thxs for your post.

Read all posts, but it's still unclear. I just had the tilt TSB done to my 2009 and it ruined the memory setting. When I hit setting 1, the seat moves but the steering wheel does not.

Is there a fix for this?

Check the car settings in on the DIS screen. The function could have been unselected during the repair.

LOL @ "unselected"..... thanks!!

Hyundai has had several issues with the memory settings with side mirrors/steering wheel adjustment(s) (all of them) and seats.

Your dealer needs to research this issues before they just start "guessing" at what the problem may be.

I had to take mine in 4 stinkin' times for the same problem. Each time they told me the problem was fixed...... ha!!!!!!

Best of luck to all.

It works right when I start the car, but if I were to move it and then hit setting 1, it doesn't go to its spot. Before you could hit Memory 1 and the steering wheel would go to where you set it last. Dumb.

Well I had a TSB done and I'm almost afraid to say it but it seems to be working fine again. I've had the problem since new and it makes me wonder whether or not I would consider a new one?

I'm new to the forum and this appears to be the appropriate place to ask this question. I like my Genesis except for one thing. It only has tilt and I would like it to have both the tilt and telescoping. I can find, what appears to be a steering column over on ebay for as little as $125 and it appears to include both functions. Has anyone any experience or suggestions whether this is possible to change out? Or who might do the installation?

Well I lost the memory of the tilt. It worked alright but would not remember any presets. The dealer just replaced a module and it seems to be working alright except the tilt range does not seem to be the same?

Yeah. If you got your tilt/telescope fixed with the latest TSB, one of the changes made was to reduce the range of both the tilt and telescope. The service tech told me that the extended range was found to be the main cause of the tilt/telescope problems.
So if you like the range, don't get it fixed until it stops working completely.
