In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Tilt Telescopic Steering Wheel

I also had the problem on a 2010, but mine was purchased in Nov 2009 and so had a 2009 build date (don't recall the month).

I had a 2010 loaner the other day with 140 miles and the wheel was already messed up. I would say its range of motion was about half what it should have been.

My 09 wheel never had a range of motion problem, it just never returned to the same spot.

My 2010 has had the limit switch replaced, but the problem seems to persist.

My 2010 Tech tilt just dropped by about 2 inches and refuses to go back up. have an appointment tomorrow. my dealer is one of the larger ones around and the service guy know exactly what I was talking about.
will see how this goes.

For those that are having their entire column replaced... what year is your car? The service rep told me that there was a mid year change on the 2010s where some have switches and some dont.

I could be wrong but I suspect the steering column replacement is not working because the tilt motor on the new column is not installed correctly which may have been the problem from the start . My dealer reinstalled the tilt motor on the steering column and my guess is the tilt motor is position incorrectly and causes the tilt function not to work correctly. The build date on my car was Feb. 18,2010 and to my knowledge I do not have the limit switches. I do not care what year the car they may not have the limit switches but they do have the tilt motor mounted on the steering column.

For what it is worth, I have had the entire steering column replaced and then the switch replaced on my 2010 Genesis. They worked on the car for 4 days changing as many parts as they could think of but the problem persists.

The dealer refuses to take the car back for the same issue. Not sure they can do that but they always say they will call back and don't. So I take that as refusing service.

I have bumped this up to Hyundai Consumer Affairs 1-800-633-5151. After dealing with them for over a month, they claim that the case has been moved up to the regional office and it is out of the dealer's hands. Whatever that means?

I was promised a call back from the regional office in 3 business days, well this is day 6 and no call back.

Good Luck getting this issue fixed! I am frustrated beyond belief with this.

First of all if they have not fixed your car and the problem still persist they can not refuse to fix your car. If you had the steering column replaced there is no limit switch for them to replace. The tilt limit MOTOR may need to be reinstalled and reposition. Replacing the tilt motor and putting it back in the same position will not work. My car was repaired 2 months ago and so far no problems. I did turn off the steering easy exit feature as I do not need it. With the steering easy exit feature off I check the tilt from time to time just to make sure it works but for the most part my tilt nevers leaves the position that I have it set. It sounds like you may need an attorney or arbitration (Lemon Law).

Good luck on getting your car repaired or whatever course of action you have to take.

Latest update on my steering column:

Car has been back twice for problem, first time steering column replaced, second, they have now replaced the tilt telescopic switch which is not integrated in the steering column. This last change was recommnded by the dealer/service hot line with Hyundai Technical.

I have explained that when the tilt does not function my view of the steering column is blocked thus creating a safety issue that is reportable to the GOvernment.

The dealer understands and also recognizes that Hyundai will have to buy the car back if it comes back for the third time. For those confused by lemon law call 1-800-lemonlaw see website http://www.lemonlaw.com/rid.html Summaries for requiremenst for all states is listed on the website.

If you met your state's requirement stop playing with the dealer and go to the state agency involved.

I am so frustrated at this point...

Took my car in to get the tilt function fixed a month or two ago. Was told that it was the tilt limiter switch that went bad. Waited a month for it to come in on back order. Car was fixed and the tilt worked for a day or two. Took it back in and was told that my car did not have switches as they were built in to the steering column (so what was fixed the first time?). Car has been at the shop a week... just got a call today saying that the whole column will need to be replaced BUT the colum won't be in until the beginning of next month.

Are you kidding me? Talk about buyer's remorse.

I had the same issue finally the telescoping would not work. It took 3 weeks for the replacement part to arrive from Korea! But the dealer did provide a 2010 Genesis as a loaner during the entire 3 weeks!

I don't know where you all live that it takes 3 weeks to get a replacement part. I live within 10 mintues of Eastern regional office and distribution center and my dealer in North NJ (50 miles away) gets parts literally overnight or within days not weeks.

My steering column took 2-3 days and switch replaced Monday took 1 day to receive.

I was told the part was not available.

OP: I don't mean to hijack your post but was thinking by providing my update here as well, would give others a single place to check.

Just came back from the dealer and was told parts are out of stock for about 5 days. I was told that the tilt, seat, and overall "easy access" functions are all related. They are replacing the driver side seat track assembly (part: 88500-3m211) and the tilt kit (part number 56390-3m000fff).

My switch was ordered last Friday 9/17 received and installed Monday 9/20. Something doesn't make sense.

Switch or Column? I was told that the switches are integrated into the column on the newer vehicles. So I am waiting for an entire column.

To add to my rant... I was told by the service manager that the car would be ready this past monday, however the parts guy told me they didnt order the steering column until yesterday (Wednesday). I wonder if the techs even know how to fix the problem. If it doesn't work this time, my car is officially a lemon. Shame because it is such a nice car.

Column was replaced two weeks ago. Switch is not the integrated one but another.

Our 2010 Genesis 4.6 had the tilt steering wheel/driver seat issue. Driver seat would move forward but not back and the tilt steering wheel stopped working. Dealership claimed there were some relays in the seat that went bad and the switch was the issue with the steering wheel. They had to order an entire new seat track and the switch for the steering column. It took about a week and a half for all the parts to come in. It took about 6 hours for them to do the replacements. This was about two weeks ago. My wife tried to go to work this morning and found the seat would not adjust AGAIN. Since I was the last person to use it, the seat is too far back for her. Starting to get pretty fed up with this issue.

That is part of the problem all manufacturers have as they keep adding features and computers.

My Corvette had exactly the same problem and took several visits before it could be fixed.
