If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. So this occurred when installer took off Xpel Prime + tiny off rear window. Can't figure out what the cracking ook or web pattern is. Applied glass cleaner and glue remover but no success. Anyone have any idea or experienced before?

Lots of adhesive residue leftover on the window. Why was the film removed? Who removed the film, and why didn't they remove the adhesive?

Looks like adhesive residue like Scottdk said.
You can try rubbing alcohol to remove it.

The tint had bubbles in it after a few days so the installer (Mercedes Dealership) wanted to re-do the install. Took it off and put on solution, this was the reaction. Not even a razor blade or adhesive remover would take it off in between the defrost lines. Seems to be embedded in the glass. They stated its never happened before and wanted me to post the question to the forum.

Since we're on the subject, we are the second owner of our 2015 AWD and since day one the rear tint on the car has annoyed me. From the outside it looks perfect. But when you are in the car and look out the rear window everything you see behind you is blurry. Like if you wore glasses and took them off. There are no bubbles or defects. It's just that the tint makes everything blurry. Side windows look fine.

I would get it replaced but I fear the rear defrost wires will get damaged upon removal.

I saw on another forum that others had tint installed and tint gave off a haze at certain angles. Several tint shop personnel indicated it was installed incorrectly and to have it reinstalled. Supposedly there is solvent they use that doesn't effect the defrost wires. But it didn't work with whatever is on my window.

I think you still have the inner layer of tint film stuck to your window. That weblike stuff is the glue they use to hold the adhesive layer to the dye layer.

Would you have any pictures of what you're describing? I'm curious to see what it's about - It could possible be the distortion from the combination of the rear defrost lines that are raised above the glass surface and the film bending over the lines.

Looks just like this. Blurs whole window, not just defrost.

Geez, this makes me wonder if the film's adhesive is failing. I suppose this was done by the previous owner, so you may not have the film info available?

Either way, you should consider replacing the film for sanity and safety reasons, and the risk for defroster damage is slim to none when done correctly, such as with a steamer.

Good tint should be nearly indistinguishable.

Oh I'm well aware.

Update, the shop found out what caused my issue. Since do detail, install wraps and tint someone in the shop misplaced a bottle with wheel acid mixed in it at the tint station. The installer thought it was the glue remover, but once the acid set on the window, it destroyed it. Yikes! They made good on it though.

Looks like cheap tint, though I cant believe the original install was left like that. A professional tinter should be able to remove it and do it right... $125 fix prob

agreed, cheap tint. when I was in my 20s I cheaped out and bought Pep-Boys tint and did it myself, and it came out like that. Since then I just go have it done professionally with quality 3M tint. Ended up costing me a lot more in the long run with having to remove the tint and replace it, than if I had just done it right the first time.

whoa, that's a costly mistake - glad they owned up to it.

Right, but seeing a $156K 911 Porsche with sticker still in the window next to my car in the shop, I figure it was .02 to the shop to keep their reputation. Mistakes happen and they were apologetic and friendly thru the entire process!
