If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I know there is another thread about the tire recall but it's full of V8 users only and no one seems to talk about the V6 or even reply to their comments. So far we know all the V8s are getting new tires which is great and good for them.

So my dear V6 owners if you have any information regarding the recall please do share with us here thank you.

If they do not experience the "issue", it is not necessarily great, as it appears to be a lower rated tire.

I took delivery of a V6 AWD Ultimate about 8 weeks ago. I called the Genesis/Equus support line 877-378-8727 was informed that I would be getting new Michelins after giving them my VIN. The person on the phone told me that ALL 2015 Gennys were getting the tires replaced. I was told to wait for my official letter from Hyundai and then contact my dealer.

^^ when you get your Michelins, please have them show you a tire gauge live on the tire to measure the depth. I imagine if Michelin holds to their oast policy, they will not make a special run of tires with less than full tread when new for A/S (12-13/32nds). Please report back. One member of this forum already has reported his Continental TX for his V8 at 8/32nds new... Way too thin tread for performance A/S tires. The Hankooks on the V8 are typical 8-9/32nds new. Again, way too little tread compared to tires you buy at the store if the same caliber.

I will be keeping the Hankooks, have no problem with them.
I wish they would give us another option, like how about some free fog lights/drl. LOL

Have a V6 AWD Signature Got the same direction calling this number. If you call your dealer like I did they told me I don't qualify. Great person on the end of this call said the issue is they cannot get the Michelins fast enough so right now this is not even a lot of dealer's systems. Should be getting a letter within a month

I have the flat spotting, wasn't sure what it was and it always disappear within 10 mins, I will get the new tires, I've been out of the country since january and the car sits 95% of the time, I only use the OEM wheels during the winter anyway, hoping I can work something out with my dealer so he can upgrade me to winter only tires

Called the support line at the 877 number and they said all 2015 genesis's are getting the tire recall...Letter is going out now...The good news is was told the recall gives us 3 YEARS to replace tires...Since I do not have any issues with Hankook tires I intend to wait at least 2 years to change mine out...At that time my tires will be 3 years old and have about 10000 miles..I usually change my tires in Florida at about 6 years even though little mileage because of cracking from heat...This way if I do this I can avoid buying new set since I intend to trade in car when it is 7 yrs old or so...
Any comments,,,Have a Good one..

I spoke with Hyundai Canada this morning. I was told that for the V6 both Continental and Michelins were "being considered" and that all 2015 Genesis owners having this problem would be offered replacement tires. The woman I spoke with estimated June or July as likely for receiving a notification letter to schedule the replacement with your dealer. She really did not distinguish between the V6 and V8, although I made clear mine was a V6. She took my VIN and recorded the concern on Hyundai's records.

Good news. Do you have a case number or name of the agent you spoke with? Would be nice to have in case the three year window is challenged by a dealer or someone who does not understand, saying the time limit is very short.

...The good news is was told the recall gives us 3 YEARS to replace tires...

Which makes no sense. If the tires are bad enough to cause a model-wide replacement, that much time seems highly unusual. To solve what was described as a "small number of complaints" by essentially supplying drivers with an extra set of tires seems excessive. I would guess they will get a 99% take on the offer especially in 2-3 years, irregardless of whether it was an issue for some or not. Wonder who is paying for this....

While it may be a bonus to current owners, it seems like an expensive way to satisfy what was sold as a small number of complaints over noise. If it takes someone three years to have the noise effect them, it was probably not that bad in the fist place.

It is probably a CYA on their part in case something happens to the tires. Seems odd to manage it the way they are doing it. I would like to read the letters they are sending out to see how exactly it is worded.

I got my car in July and already have 30K on it. I am VERY happy to get my tires replaced as they are near the end of their life. Haven't gotten the letter yet but will get them replaced as soon as I can.

If it is a safety hazard, that should have been disclosed. Saying a small minority did not like the noise, does not warrant changing out 10-20K+ cars tires. The only way Hyundai would be responsible is if Hankook informed them of a defect and that would require them to notify the public also.

In my opinion, the reason for the tire recall is simply that the tire problem was hurting their reputation, customer satisfaction, and most importantly their sales numbers. Your average Joe or Jane luxury buyer test drives cars for just a few miles and guess what, many of them will not buy a car with a shitty ride. If I had not found this forum and read up on the transient nature of it, I wouldn't have dropped the $50k, not a chance. It's quite possible that Hankook is picking up the tab.

FYI... Your PM indicated you were waiting on letter. Here is a copy of mine. And it does not show the three year availability. I could not attach it to PM in the app.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430355855.485836.webpImageUploadedByTapatalk1430355855.485836.webp

Totally disagree. Not one review mentioned a "shitty ride". If anything, the previous car was universally determined to have the poorer ride when compared with the G2's ride. A Google search of Genesis tires issues brings up this site - not much of anything else. I doubt those who did not buy would have had the tires on the list of reasons not to buy. The Genesis reputation was no where near hurt over those who found performance tires not to their liking - I still suspect of the 30K cars sold to date, the disappointment in tires was minimal. The Genesis sales numbers are being lauded - they are above last years YTD and are in a price and luxury segment which is tough turf to make traction with an economy car badge.

If there was no defined defect in the tire, I see no reason why Hankook will pick up anything. Why should they? The same tire is highly reviewed and if some Hyundai buyers do not like the tires dynamics, that is a Hyundai issue.

By shitty ride, I was referring to the flatspotting vibrations only. Cars that sit on the lot for weeks or month have a lumpy ride until the tire runs on the ground for sufficient period time. I first drove a black AWD base and the ride had VERY bad vibrations. I remember remarking to the sales guy (not Colin, btw) and he said it was due to the road, which was a ridiculous suggestion. Lost sales are difficult to quantify, but to suggest a company like Hyundai hasn't performed market surveys to determine why prospective buyers don't ultimately buy, regardless of current sales figures, would be naive.

Unless you have a copy of the Hankook/hyundai supplier agreement & sales contract then you have no idea if they would have liability or not. And neither do I have that sort of insight but I suspect they might, especially since you have to turn in your old tires to get the new ones.

I have a v8 Ultimate and got the offer for free tires.
