  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

To keep or not to keep the Genesis logo that is the question?

Should I remove the Genesis logo from the trunk when I rebadge?

I replaced all the "H" badges. I also took "GENESIS" off from the right side of the trunk and replaced it with "BH380". Haven't had a chance to move "GENESIS" to the left side of trunk yet because I need to properly line it up.

The H on the glass, engine cover, display and key fob are not a problem to me.
I am not trying to hide the fact that the car is a Hyundai. I just like the wings on the trunk, wheel caps and airbag module. I will tell peopel in a minute it's a Hyundai.

Still haven't figured out how to hack the H on the dashboard display

I decided to try the debadged look. It took 2.5 hours to get the Genesis 4.6 emblem off the trunk. My car is 6mos old. I used:dental floss,Tar&bug remover, hair dryer and micro cloth. I would recommend that anyone else who does this do the same. In some places the adhesive had harden so I had to keep the cloth saturated with bug and tar remover and lightly rub until the
harden adhesive lifted. To protect the paint finish at no time did I use anything to scrape or pick at the harden adhesive. This is the same process that I used to remove the H emblem from the trunk. I really like the debadge look and the rear of the car looks more striking with the wing emblem now being the center point. If the wing emblem had not had Genesis on it I would have
never removed the Genesis 4.6 but I am so glad that it did.

After I pulled the car out into the light I notice a faint shadow of the lettering from the debadging. Also the clear coat was a little milkey looking which may have come from rubbing due to the harden adhesive that was hard to lift.
I did not have this problem when I took the H off but I had only had the car a couple of weeks oppose to six months so I would advise anyone who does this to do it as soon as you get your car.
I will take the car to a detailer or body shop and let them do a light polish which will more and likely correct the problem. Some of the shadow may fade in time as the sun light hits the area that was once covered by the lettering. The fact that my car is black probably did not help matters but than may be 6mo did not help either.

Local body shop gave me the stuff to clean shadow & cloudy apperance of clear coat after debadging. Everything worked out well.

Dealer gave me a free "genesis" leather key fob. No Hyundai mention at all.

Even after polishing, gost shadow of removed lettering kept showing up on my car so I ordered new Genesis 4.6 lettering and put it back on the car today.
I would advise anyone to think twice before debadging especially if you have a dark color car. I was able to place the new lettering in the exact spot of the old lettering but it was not at all easy.
