  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well I took the car to the track yesterday, its a 2010 base turbo coupe, I made a homemade cai and thats all I have done to the car, its a 6 speed. The best run yesterday was a 15.144 at 89.4. Best mph of the day was 90.2. I was pretty pleased with the runs, this was at Bristol Tn Thunder valley which is known to be a slow track. At sea level the car would have went 14.7 or maybe a lil faster, Im happy for what really is a stock coupe!

careful with posting racing experiences on websites. Couple of years ago some guys racing Acura Type R's has problems getting their warranty claims honored because company reps monitored the websites and said that they were racing. Which voids the warranty.
Similar stuff with the 2.5 RS Subarus (that was before the WRX became available)
Just be careful .

What /??!?!1!? Frank dont believe everything you've read on the internet :( . Thats just service departments being DICKS! Warranty is warranty this means manufacturer defects NOT you breaking it.
I'm the local service advisor he should be just fine with warranty. I have a 2.5 RS anyone racing those is pissing in the wind anyway. Bristol is a pitiful excuse for a dragstrip (very nice in looks but probably the worst maintained surface).

Is not a story from the internet, but from people i used to autocross with. They went through a couple of gearboxes and tried to claim them under warranty. Their usernames were their real names, which wasn't too smart...You don't have to believe it, I am not saying that it happens often, but it did. The 2.5 RS is a good autocross car, not a dragcar. I had one myself and was quite sucessful racing street touring street tires class. Dragracing? please... Thats for the high horsepower class.

Frank

Im not worried Frank but thank you anyway.

First, the only way that the manufacturer would know is if they could correlate the owner to a particular online identity. The only way for that to happed is either the owner volunteers the information (which sounds like the case) or the site owner gave up the information (or it's a manufacturer's forum).

Second, kind of ridiculous that anyone would call one of the trims a track model and not expect that it would be tracked ;) Personally, I'd rather have someone time their car on a closed course rather than a street or highway near me...

At a 15 second 1/4 Mile time they should void the Name Sports Cp........:) That's mighty slow.

No one said it was fast willy, just posting some times, I think this is the worst car forum I have ever logged on to.

just playin w u...if it makes u feel better...it is still faster than my 91 Na mr2

I didn't think the base coupe would of done quite that well honestly. I assume that the V6 coupe would easily dip into the 14's then. On the other hand, I predict that the turbo 4 would be a better tuner engine. Man, when I buy a Genesis it will be a tough decision.

Yeah, the 4 can be upgraded easily to be as fast as the V6, but we haven't seen any V6 upgrades yet, so who knows how things will develop.

i haven't been yet, but i'm looking forward to it.

a few questions...

Was this your first time to the track? (other cars...)
How did you feel about your shifts?
Sounds like you made a few passes, How did the clutch hold up?

i wish they would stop calling the Gen Coupe a Sports Car. the thing is a copy cat of a G37 with the trap speed of a Dodge Ram.

actually, the Ram is quicker.

anyways, the 15 second 1/4 mile sucks, but you can always tell how fast a car is by the trap speed. for example, i think even a 50 year old woman would be able to trap 120+ in a Z06 even though she would probably run a high 12, HAHA !!!!

if it's not a sports car, then what is it? mine sure doesn't look like a family coupe. how long would it take the ram to flip over on a road track?
